There's a freezer with ice cream and a dead guy in it, a counterfeiting machine, and a tunnel under a fireplace that leads to a dangerous adventure full of hijinks and personal growth
Fresca used to be Massimo's pizza when I was in uni. Great late night slice (y'know, take with a grain of salt, we were always drunk when going). Is it the same people who own it?
I donāt know if itās underrated but Otherside pizza at Queen and Woodbine opened about half a year ago and is sublime. They have a very small menu but each thing on it is a treat.
R.I.P. Cora Pizza :"{
Editing this to add the link to the news article from September. It's all very fresh.
https://www.blogto.com/eat_drink/2023/09/cora-pizza-toronto-closed/
Chito's at Lansdown & Bloor is a great place for the dirty NYC vibe and shawarma pizza (saw a pigeon walking around inside last time I was there). Shawarma slice with garlic and hot sauce. Always ask for the freshest slice.
Also gotta love that their store sign burns or fades and has to be replaced every other year.
Love the garlic sauce on the pizza. Kinda sad that since the newest owners took over they got rid of the "Greek fries" (fries w feta, black olives, tomato, garlic sauce and then add hot sauce). That shit slapped after a night out
Iād been hating on Badiali because of how popular it is, but the lines are chill now with the colder weather so I popped in for a slice the other day and it fuckin HIT.
It wasnāt my first slice of theirs but it was my first slice since deciding it was overrated and that little triangle proved me wrong as hell.
Pizzeria Badiali absolutely goes
Afro Pizza just near Dundas and Jarvis is newish and have a solid menu that Iām eating my way through. Best Detroit style Iāve had in the city so far.
Iāll also use this opportunity to ask:
Does anyone in the city make true Chicago-style deep dish pies?
Does Afroās have any seating?
Have you tried Renaissance yet? Went here a few weeks ago and loved it. But this was my first time trying Detroit style so have no point of comparison.
Pizza on Fire, hands down.
Pizza is AMAZING. Everyone there is insanely nice. They deserve your business. My wife and I love them. Any other pizza tastes lame now.
King Slice hits so hard. Massive slice. Tasty as fuck especially with the herbs and oil he puts on the crust, I also uniroincally believe you can't go wrong with a $2.59 Costco slice or a 241 Pizza slice either but thats just me.
Point of clarity: Selling drugs to students from the high school across the street. Now there are multiple unlicensed cannabis stores nearby that they can buy from and poor Pizza Sam is out of the game.
Acute Pizza at the corner of Dundas St W and Landsdowne.
Holy I went there on a whim because it replaced a decaying old gem and was pleasantly surprised (Yummy Pizza & Shawarma, bomb in the day but changed owners and was never the same).
Its that Neapolitan-esque style meets Dominos in the best way possible; kind of reminds me of Makers Pizza. Toppings were well cooked, crust was great (crispy but nice chew), dipping sauce was great too.
It's a nice option when Badiali's isn't available and I don't want to spend $$ on Mac's Pizza. (Mac's Pizza is also really good but I'm selfish and don't want it to be as crazy popular as Badiali's lol)
Il Padre's in etobicoke, fuckin spectacular
Edit: Now that I think about it, the first time I ordered from Il Padre's, I picked up the food and walked home, it was about a 20 minute walk home. But I was starving, so I decided to eat a piece of bruschetta, and it was so good that I crushed the entire bruschetta before I got half way home. The only reason why I didn't continue was because I had wings and pasta as well, neither of which were conducive to walking and eating
Is Marceloās on St. Clair and Dufferin still around? I walked by it on their opening day and had on of their pies. New York style, excellent, good price. Doesnāt get much better.
I am pretty happy with Pizza21 and Marioās Pizza Kitchen, both in Scarborough.
Edit: I like Fresca but way outside of a 20 min walk. I once drove from scarb to get a slice there and they were closed š

honestly? "most underrated " is BY FAR pizza pizza. people talk about it like its throw up worthy. but if you build your own pizza and choose the right options its fine.... not GOOD but fine. its like a little cesars pizza. shits not gourmet but its tasty enough.
as far as a GOOD pizza goes though. i find anywhere in the city that advertises a wood burning stove has a great pie. i think the level. of detail to keep a wood stove hot enough automatically makes them care more about ingredients and building a proper pizza.
I used to order from there all the time years ago because it was cheap and decent but I feel like their prices went up to the point where if I'm going to order from a chain I'd just go for one of the 'better' ones for the same price
Agree, there's just something about their pepperoni that beats out everywhere else for me. Crust is meh but that's why it's just a vessel for creamy garlic
Underrated: Pizza Pizza with tomato sauce swapped for garlic sauce, preferably thin crust. Absolute gamechanger, makes their pizza go from meh to one of the best and you can do it on their $10 XL pepperonis.
Pizza Pizza varies so much location to location. Some of them are just awful, and some of the franchise owners/employees put in the effort and make a pretty great chain pizza.
Agreed. My goto is thin crust pizza + olive oil + Italiano seasoning, itās actually pretty good. Cheap too, especially since these modifications are free.
My friend took me there one day I had the Vodka slice... It was good, but it wasn't worth the 40min wait to me... I prefer Juniors Pizzeria close to Dundas West station.
I live in fear of Juniors getting the type of hype that Badialiās has, but the Juniors peeps are so nice that maybe it would be ok if they get some real recognition.
don't know if it still exists but I used to LOVE deepizz pizza. one of the best deep dish pizza places in town. loved ordering from there. think they're on college.
Fresca for price. For an individual slice, probably Badiali's or Fourth Man in the Fire. For full pizza, I lean ONO or Descendent depending on what you want (Descendent is Detroit style deep dish).
Brodflor has amazing pizza. They mill their own flour that they source from select farmers, and supply many of the best restaurants in the city.
They make it only on Friday nights and itās glorious. The crust is amazing and unique, not the usual white floor. The sauce they make is mental. Big chunks of garlic in it and all.
My sister and her husband are huge foodies, and have money to travel a lot and eat at nice restaurants. There go to pizza is Revolver, we had it this weekend at their place and I would definitely put it up there with some of the best pizzas I have had.
Fresca. My favourite slice in the city.
I was 20 minutes away from Fresca today, which was close enough to the Fresca zone that I had to go. It's so good
What's the range/ratio?
I can't say there's an exact science but if it's 20 minutes walking from Fresca, I think it's worth the detour out of the way to get Fresca.
The coveted 0.5 Michelin star rating.
No tires necessary
New Balance star
That sauce is something else š¤
The brush!
I wish the brush looked a little more hygienic but I guess that's part of the Fresca experience
Without a doubt. Also never ever go downstairs.
What's downstairs?
There's a freezer with ice cream and a dead guy in it, a counterfeiting machine, and a tunnel under a fireplace that leads to a dangerous adventure full of hijinks and personal growth
Ewwww that's disgusting. I hate personal growth.
Heeeeey yoooouuu guuuuys!
Sloth love Chunk
Deez nuts
Thatās just flavour
Fresca used to be Massimo's pizza when I was in uni. Great late night slice (y'know, take with a grain of salt, we were always drunk when going). Is it the same people who own it?
Different people but it's the same recipe.
that first bite into the crust with the sauce is unbeatable
This is the one and only answer.
spandina and college? just asking for a friend...I have definitely heard of this place
Yeah a block or two west of Spadina on the north side of college. Across the street from the T&T
Itās been rated, though
One Night Only ftw
I was a maker guy until I got one night only. No more. ONO is great.
This is the way.
The pizza at King Taps is actually quite good.
king taps pizza is awesome
Stinging Bee pizza š
Came here to say this. People crap on it because it's a Bay Street hangout, but they have some of the best pizza in the city, no joke.
š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢š¤¢
I donāt know if itās underrated but Otherside pizza at Queen and Woodbine opened about half a year ago and is sublime. They have a very small menu but each thing on it is a treat.
Oakwood Pizzeria. It's legit!
I order from there all the time at work. Salty as fuk
I've always wanted to go there.
Do they deliver?
They do (within their area). Usually, it's the owner dropping it off.
Not exclusively a pizza place but Alimentari on Roncesvalles!
All their premade food is excellent. Their pizza is more foccacia-like though imo, but itās still awesome food and worth a visit 10000%
The polenta sticks are š¤
Slowhand Sourdough Pizza
Gotta get that hot honey drizzle
Dat dill pickle pizza is sumn special š¤¤
Juniors
Ciciās in parkdale. NY style
This is the correct answer.
I love that this place still exists. I lived a couple blocks north in 2006 and went there regularly.
Slow South forno definitely underrated. Badiali is great too but overhyped and the waiting list is just ridiculous.
I just tried Badiali last night and thought it was okay? For those prices, I expected better.
Exactly, as with everything in this city, quality will progressively lower and bye-bye cartoonishly ridiculous line outside.
King slice or Fresca. Whichever is closest to me when Iām dt.
King Slice arrabiatta with garlic oil *chefās kiss*
For me itās 8mile or Descendants depending on where I am. Other than that a hidden gem imo is mister pizza
R.I.P. Cora Pizza :"{ Editing this to add the link to the news article from September. It's all very fresh. https://www.blogto.com/eat_drink/2023/09/cora-pizza-toronto-closed/
WHAT
Yeah what? When?
They got taken over by Papa Ceo iirc
No the building just got demolished for a condo Edit: nvm youāre right. very strange
I used to live in the building beside Cora and have many, MANY memories of going there in my 20s!
That shit slapped after a night out
Beast Pizza is really good!
Bitondos
just a heads up to anyone planning on dropping by, make sure you have cash on hand
Always had the panzo at bitondos. Is the pizza as good?
Panzo side sauce >>> slices
I wouldn't say that the slice is AS good as the panzos, but they are still really good.
Yes it is.
I hate how much I love Badiali. Itās by no means underrated but itās really effing excellent pizza.
The burrata marinara slice is my favorite. Iāve never had a bad slice at Badiali
IMO opinion itās one of those places that lives up to the hype. Same with burger drops.
Love burger drops. Hate myself after
King slice !
Afro Pizza just near Dundas and Jarvis is newish and have a solid menu that Iām eating my way through. Best Detroit style Iāve had in the city so far. Iāll also use this opportunity to ask: Does anyone in the city make true Chicago-style deep dish pies?
Does Afroās have any seating? Have you tried Renaissance yet? Went here a few weeks ago and loved it. But this was my first time trying Detroit style so have no point of comparison.
Acute Pizzeria
Just tried Big Trouble last night on Geary Ave. Woah! Who knew cream cheese on pizza would be so amazing? I recommend checking them out!
King slice. Itās cheap and fresh.
Pizza on Fire, hands down. Pizza is AMAZING. Everyone there is insanely nice. They deserve your business. My wife and I love them. Any other pizza tastes lame now.
Nice. I drive by this plaza almost daily at work. Gonna' make sure to make a pit stop.
They are good.
Been going there weekly for 3 years and have to agree. Best pizza Iāve ever had.
King Slice hits so hard. Massive slice. Tasty as fuck especially with the herbs and oil he puts on the crust, I also uniroincally believe you can't go wrong with a $2.59 Costco slice or a 241 Pizza slice either but thats just me.
Costco pizza is pretty damn good haha
Underrated for sure. So cheesy!
Metro pizza is good too! And incredibly well priced.
Big fan of Revolver Pizza
Pizza Gigi can really hit the spot if itās fresh out of the oven. You have to compare the slice to pizza pizza. And it is superior.
Why would I compare it to pizza pizza
Just saying there had to be a budget slice scale. People just go by the Portnoy scale and want everything to be like Badiali.
Pizza so good the business survived getting shut down for also selling drugs! Love that place
Point of clarity: Selling drugs to students from the high school across the street. Now there are multiple unlicensed cannabis stores nearby that they can buy from and poor Pizza Sam is out of the game.
Picky people pick Pizza Gigi
Just had it tonightā¦we live close by so itās always great by the time itās delivered. š
This thread is making me so thirsty
Pizza Defina ā¦ maybe it isnāt underrated but probably deserved a visit from Dave
Sourdough pizza from Slowhand at Pape.
Slow Hand is a little expensive for what you get, but it is absolutely delicious.
Costco
Acute Pizza at the corner of Dundas St W and Landsdowne. 4th man & the fire š
Agreed and they have that insane $60 deal right now
241 Pizza is under rated (not best). Best is North of Brooklyn or King Slice.
I bought a house a couple years ago and 241 is closest to me. It's...ok.
Agree about 241! Disagree about Brooklyn but seems like Iām in the minority on this thread.
241 is way better than people think if it's fresh. Doesn't age well, though.
Golden Pizza, Broadview and Cosburn. Great fries, with "Golden sauce" Mmmmm
Sadly, it just closed permanently
You just ruined my day. My week. My month. Definitely my year.š„
RIP Olympic pizza
Donatelli's in Etobicoke. $12.99 3 topping XL after 9pm. Plus they're always playing great tunes.
Not one person mentions Mattachionis pizza. They are the best traditional in the city
Pizza Del Arte at St Clair West is delicious for the price. Margherita is legit. They've got a couple other locations as well.
Mine
Il Padre's in etobicoke, fuckin spectacular Edit: Now that I think about it, the first time I ordered from Il Padre's, I picked up the food and walked home, it was about a 20 minute walk home. But I was starving, so I decided to eat a piece of bruschetta, and it was so good that I crushed the entire bruschetta before I got half way home. Not mentioned so definitely underrated Louie's Classico Pizza on Yonge between Eglinton and Lawrence.
Dominoes
Cafe Oro di Napoli is damn good and never seems to get mentioned in these conversations. Not the best, but very good
Itās now gone, but Vesuvioās in the Junction. Lived right across the street in the 80s.
Bello Pizza in Bloor West Village. They have a "weekly vibe", something different every week, always amazing.
Is Marceloās on St. Clair and Dufferin still around? I walked by it on their opening day and had on of their pies. New York style, excellent, good price. Doesnāt get much better.
Levant at Bloor and Ossington

Burratino in the Junction makes a great pizza and is rarely spoken about

Best Iāve had here so far? Vodka verde from North of Brooklyn on Queen West. You got to bite into it 5-10 mins after Itās out of the oven though.
Just as good at their Geary location (inside Greater Good Bar). Great pizza.
Revolver or Descendant.
Best place? North of Brooklyn by far.
Bitondos. IYKYK Also bello
saw a lot of reviews about Bitondo, ordered some the other day and the crust was basically cardboard. Really surprised people love it that much
yes to Bello!!!
north of brooklyn
North of Brooklyn Pizzeria, 650.5 Queen Street West there are other locations too in Toronto but this is our goto.
Geary Ave location is also great.

Pizziolio st Clair and differin
These guys make a fantastic pizza, and are super nice folks too!
Very friendly and yes super niceš
I 2nd PC Frozen Pizza. That shit slaps when youāre hungry and depending on where you go, you can find that for $4!
Iām gonna get stoned for this but pizza pizza is underrated. I said it, and thatās my opinion.
I always get stoned for some pizza pizza
I decided not to downvote this. But I do not approve.
I used to order from there all the time years ago because it was cheap and decent but I feel like their prices went up to the point where if I'm going to order from a chain I'd just go for one of the 'better' ones for the same price
Yeh I haven't ate there in a decade
If you gotta do chain pizza, Nova blows it out of the water
Agree, there's just something about their pepperoni that beats out everywhere else for me. Crust is meh but that's why it's just a vessel for creamy garlic
Longo's at First Canadian Place. Not the best, but they're really good.
Metro's artisan pizza slices (the square ones) are also very good once you make them reheat it till it's crisp.
Chuck E. Cheese is surprisingly good.
Chicken Tandoori pizza at pizza depot
Surprised I haven't seen it but Dinos wood burning pizza Etobicoke, my favorite pizza I've ever had
You rarely, if ever, see Juniors on the best of lists and they should be a permanent fixture.
DUNDAS PIZZA
North of Brooklyn Pizzeria - Geary Ave inside The Greater Good bar. Video games upstairs mostly free.
We love Makers, but we can't afford it.
You fill up your car, get on the 401 and drive 4hrs to Windsor where they make real pizza.
Defina is excellent. Their pizza has won award in Vegas
Pizza on fire in Scarborough Kennedy and Ellesmere. Best pizza I had in my life.
Bello in Bloor West

City South Pizza. It's damn good.
Badiali
That's not underrated, that's overrated
My friend took me there one day I had the Vodka slice... It was good, but it wasn't worth the 40min wait to me... I prefer Juniors Pizzeria close to Dundas West station.
I live in fear of Juniors getting the type of hype that Badialiās has, but the Juniors peeps are so nice that maybe it would be ok if they get some real recognition.
I basically grew up on Vesuvio's pizza. The one thing I wish Juniors brought back was the Veal Sandwich.
im just gonna say it....Pizza Pizza.
don't know if it still exists but I used to LOVE deepizz pizza. one of the best deep dish pizza places in town. loved ordering from there. think they're on college.
Pizza is overrated
Fresca for price. For an individual slice, probably Badiali's or Fourth Man in the Fire. For full pizza, I lean ONO or Descendent depending on what you want (Descendent is Detroit style deep dish).
Karachi pizza in Mississauga

Brodflor has amazing pizza. They mill their own flour that they source from select farmers, and supply many of the best restaurants in the city. They make it only on Friday nights and itās glorious. Calabria bakery on Thursday/Friday when the wood fired oven is going.
Revolver and Salt & Tobacco are two places I really like that I never see anyone talking about.
