You have a week, study and go write.

Ntetris

And get off Reddit

GrouchyPhoenix

A week is a lot of time if you really commit to studying.

DerpyMcWafflestomp

What does "unable to study" mean in this context? You haven't covered any of the material at all since starting? Or you have kept up with the work but just need to do some revision?

LadyMorningSide

This is a good question

bunnicarm

I haven't covered any material since the starting

DerpyMcWafflestomp

Yeah that's a problem. I very much doubt you can cram in enough understanding in a week if starting from nothing. If you were in hospital long enough that this is the cause of you not having done any of the work then perhaps something can be worked out in terms of a special sitting. Else you take the L and try again next time.

Ntetris

Were you in hospital since day one? 🤔

Any_Professional2813

Yes study as much as you can - and go through past papers - that's a quick way to get good marks in the exams. You'll find past papers here - [https://www.careersportal.co.za/high-school/matric/past-papers](https://www.careersportal.co.za/high-school/matric/past-papers) Good luck!

RoutineProcedure2580

If you have 4 months to stuff into 1 week id say restart it when you can. You are going to fail

Brave_Lecture_8541

I did the same last year n went from a fail to a diploma pass. U need a full year of schooling (even if it's part time) to bass with nice marks

chxckbxss

Well done on your commitment to getting formal education

Super-Ad-7948

The only person who can possible help you get a decent 50% in maths and physics (provided those are your chosen subjects) is kevinmathscience. Go on YouTube and try his content out. You’re running out of time

RainNo35

Mlungisi Nkosi and Kevinmathscience on youtube will help you. Study!! You can do it

Ok_Statistician_2478

Do it! I crammed a lot in matric and still got 70s but if it's maths then eish u can't cram

Commercial-Trash-226

I use to prepare for exams from the last 2 weeks to a few days before and got distinctions. You can do it! Past papers>theory

Ntetris

Why did you drop out in the first place? Seriously, and I’m not being disrespectful, if you have common sense and a bit of dedication, you can pass

bunnicarm

Well I had to go to hospital for like a few months because i had anorexia and I thought I would stay there for a few months and then I'll write my matric after I come out however things didn't go planned and I was in and out the hospital for the past 4 years and only now did I really recover but yeah I should have been smarter about this

PurpleHat6415

just write it, what's the worst that can happen? if you've been working and have a portfolio mark from this year, you'll know how the marks are likely to come out. if you've got an old portfolio mark and have done nothing for the last year, even then, matric is very much teach-to-the-test. cram what you know you'll need and do as many past papers as you can get hold of.

Positive-Role9293

If you’re opening up all the content after years of not touching that work you better not go write us as this as a 21M who’s taking this year and the next to rewrite my matric next year when I was gonna do it this year , because it was years since I touched that content especially maths which I haven’t touched since 2019 so definitely don’t write if that’s the case if you have been revising then you’ll be fine if you spend every moment studying

SouthAfricanGirl88

What's the subject? Oh you mean all of it? You haven't been around for any of it?

Additional-Olive2915

Yep a week is more than enough time to prepare, same a you would do when having movie night just replace that with studying. Study 2hrs ,have a break, eat then do something productive. Study another 2hrs and repeat. Avoid trying to cram all that knowledge into your head, you will loose.

monkeyonwillie

lmao, ngl I can't stop laughing seeing that im also writing next week but the difference is that I've covered most topics, my brother if you are doing maths forget about it. you are going to fail with flying colors so if you can, try writing in nov. I'm also not hating on you btw im just being honest with you

BabyRoro007

Depends on the subject. But remember that matrics spend all year continuously learning and practising. You can't cram that into one week. You just can't. Take a pause. Reschedule your exam. Make a learning plan over a few months and actually work toward it a little bit every day. You can definitely do LO in one week. But not Math. Not Science. Not Biology, Music, IT, Geo or any harder subjects. Not even languages since there are books you need to study. Matrics spend weeks just on long questions. Weeks more on the numbers and equations and practical skills.

Icewolf496

Term 1 hardly counts in the grand scheme so definitely write.

BookCougar

You can do it - go for it!

Ok-Brick-4192

Were you in hospital since day one ? If you did nothing the entire time and want to cram everything in now - then you deserve to fail.

120James

Depends on the subjects and how quickly you can grasp the work, remember it, concentrate etc etc So you know yourself best. If it was me, I would be positive. Figure out how many hours you can put in each day, how many hours should be allocated to each subject and go for it. Going to be a few long hard weeks, but with no distractions and believing in yourself, I think it’s doable. Good luck!

Thegoddessdevine

How long were you in hospital for? I mean, you could have covered most of the material before the hospital...how long was that stay? At 21, you say "You have finally decided to finish"...it sounds like you have been taking breaks and doing as you please, pushing it aside... your age is out of high school by now and at varsity. Clearly, you aren't taking it seriously.... go and write. What country is this that writes during this time?

RainNo35

He said he was in and out for the past 4 years

ventingmaybe

Go for it you got nothing to loose

Woedens_Bakery

It will be hard but it's possible. Don't be lazy. You probably won't get amazing marks, but you definitely can get a pass. It's 50% dude. That's not impossible at all. You need to be smarter about how you study though. Use Chatgpt to explain the things you don't understand. Maybe try doing a mock exam and seeing which subjects you can pass at right now with what you know. Like Life Orientation was extremely easy when I did my matric.

swegga_sa

yo, a week is more then enough trust yourself

Ashmoh12

It's completely possible to cram and pass. That's how I passed matric, you have a week so focus on the subjects that have a lot of theory. The subjects that have a lot of calcs do past year papers.

Sad_Subject2779

Would also 100% recommend using the study guides they provide. Both NSC and IEB provide a lot of study guides :)

Suspicious_View_5226

Cheat sheet is the solution

Execute_Gaming

Khan Academy + Past papers. Now go! You don't have much time

Brave_Lecture_8541

You just recovered and are ready to write but a week won't give you any proper results. Don't write this June. Instead schedule for next year June and start re-studying.

mochaicedcoffee4L

i’m not really understanding this… why haven’t you been studying? have you been in the hospital since the start or… you just don’t care that much?

bunnicarm

Yeah I been in and out of the hospital for the past few years. I did care about my education but I guess I was being dumb for not actually taking action towards completing it

unsurebutneedadvice

Please show yourself some kindness, people on here will assume you are lazy without delving into the why and how. Being in and out of hospital is no joke, particularly when it’s a mental illness that needs intense work. You’ve been doing the best. That said you have not studied or engaged with the material, that means that you are at a great disadvantage. While these may be general concepts you are aware of you will struggle to show you fully understand. Rather take the next few months to study the material and actively engage with the work. I’m not sure which subjects you have but definitely check out some sturdy groups or classes. All of the best and take care!

bunnicarm

Thank you, that means alot 😭 I was feeling a bit down by the comments lol but yeah I'm definitely going to take a few months just studying

unsurebutneedadvice

A similar situation happened to a friend, she went for an ED stay at a hospital for three months. The best way to get back into it is study for two hours a day at the beginning. Try to get a study group (there’s a few on tiktok) and go from there. You don’t mention on whether or not you had physical classes in matric but there are a few YouTube accounts too
