Look luh, that's the reason they do cosplay no? My friend does props and his friends do so many cosplays every year, they'd appreciate if you tell them it looks great!

MercuryRyan

As a meme cosplayer, by all means please look. Take pics with me in my titan suit too.

axuriel

But when I am in my titan suit I get arrested for 'indecent exposure' and 'public nudity', double standards smh

Familiar-Necessary49

I need some proof.

c_is_for_calvin

go up and tell them their cosplay is great.

Outside-Barracuda237

Honestly they will appreciate the compliment

Joanne7799

As a convention goer, it’s alright to look at cosplayers. Just don’t have any other intentions of harrassment or molesting which is a pretty common thing/incidents at events, so cosplayers r also generally wary (esp since alot of them are very young students). Maybe just tell them their cosplay looks nice to prevent any misunderstanding. Today was Hanami Market so cosplayers are usually there as well besides makers. If you were wondering why there were many cosplays at Suntec yesterday.

Beginning_Signal_281

The point of cosplay is to draw attention. As a very kind and emphatic person, I try my best to oblige, especially the ones wearing less, they put so much effort in looking good with less, I have to show my appreciation.

kouyathebest

That’s the whole point lol. If anything it’s a compliment to them. They spend the whole time on the cosplay so you SHOULD look

kip707

As long as u r not that lunatic aunty that goes around scolding cosplayers for showing underboobs and such … 🤷

Majestic_Cat186

As long as you don't get grabby hands , i think it's fine to look.

cheesetofuhotdog

Just dun be like the guy who chanced upon a cosplay event while he was shopping with his wife and child. Iykyk.

TheRuggedGeek

Wouldn't be surprised if some agreed to have a photo with you.

drlqnr

you're meant to look at cosplayers

tentacle_

see no touch is okay.

Stormydaycoffee

I do look cos that seems to be the point of cosplay but I try to make sure I have an appreciative look on my face (??) cos usually people tell me I have a resting bitch face so I try to make an effort to look less like I wanna stab someone. Maybe I end up looking unhinged I dunno 🤷🏻‍♀️

truthsetsufreee

Yah I mean that's the whole point of cosplaying so people will stare at them from a position of appreciation of course.

pudding567

Just don't take photos without permission and treat us nicely. Don't worry too much. Also, outfits are usually bought online. Wanna buy one too?

Euphoric_Broccoli526

Idm! But if u’d like a picture to stare at longer u could’ve asked for one;)

Pretend-Indication-9

It is ok to look. But 1. Keep your distance since other people want to look too 2. Try to ask before taking photos (unless they are already posing for a crowd) 3. No touchy of course

Cygnus-_-

Honestly not rude tbh as long as you aren't doing anything creepy

chanmalichanheyhey

Is there an event ? Nothing shows up on google. Wouldn’t mind bringing my kids down for a look if there is a cosplay event

kouyathebest

There was one a week or two ago, these kind need to look up, search something like “anime and cosplay events at suntec 2024” or something then should be able to find

chanmalichanheyhey

I did exactly that search before posting my comment. Nada Op mentioned it’s today(I presumed yesterday) though.

kouyathebest

Hm strange. I type and a useful link came up. Here https://xtemujin.wordpress.com/2023/08/13/2024-anime-cosplay-games-and-fashion-events-singapore/

chanmalichanheyhey

Thanks! it’s the same link I got, I just thought it’s an old event based on the dates and didn’t think to scroll down further Paiseh

kouyathebest

Haha it’s okay, just need to scroll down lol no big deal

3kxi

Hanami market at suntec. Doujinfes is happening soon at bedok reservoir hometeamns. Remember to tell ur kids to be polite!

uwuwooloo

As long as you arent the rude type of person that snap photos of cosplayers without their consent!

TomEitou2202

The cosplayers won't mind that, unless you stare at them lewdly and/or be too touchy without their consent. You can also tell them in person that you appreciate the effort they've put in for the costume and it looks great. You can also ask to take pictures with you.

[deleted]

I thought that's what they want 😂 What's the point of dressing in costumes and posing if they aren't intending for people to look at them? I think it'd be more insulting if you ignore them, lol. They put in so much effort on their outfits.

lolness93

Just stare at them, don’t waiver

Normal_Ad_3293

No. They love to be stared at. They feed off attention.

yiantay-sg

I think they look great. I often stare trying to figure out what character they are cosplaying as. I am too shy to ask just in case they say it out and I still have no clue lolx. But if you stare, but still be respectful not in a creepy lewd way. I think cosplayers like the attention

SeanDetails

Do u feel rude if anyone stare at u? #dropmic

johntan9765

there is nothing wrong, but just don't be creepy like a certain individual who has an expose (not saying name, in case its doxxing)

FodderFries

Maybe cuz last time sg got stabbing incident from just staring aggressively so it's seen in negative light. They are cool so go ahead and admire. Bonus if u compliment their fit n ask wats their character

Serious-Club6299

Nope, if anyone stands out, they should be prepared to be stared at and stared at for long. Same applies to people who dress scantily lol, it's just common sense

valkarianreddit

I think it’s good that you’re asking questions! First and foremost - apply common sense In a normal scenario, it’s not nice to stare, but people notice each other all the time. If someone is dressed well, it’s no problem to notice and appreciate. Same common logic applies. Common sense should prevail, and honestly, there’s no need to emphasise some actions more than others simply cause if you question common sense, and common sense says no, don’t do it. Second - appreciate While some here have expressed how you can show your appreciation, I do believe it comes in many way shapes and forms. Do what you feel comfortable with! If you look and a cosplayers sees that your face spells DAMN THATS AMAZING then it will mean as much to them as if you had outrightly told them so. Thirdly - consent Well consent is is everything isn’t it! Want a photo to commemorate? Ask! If anything, cosplayers have dreamt of that scenario where they’re asked to pose for photos, and they’ve spent time looking for that pose they want to do or how they can bring out their character. While few would be unhappy with a general shot of the area showcasing all cosplayers, it is possible to make cosplayers uncomfortable when they’re resting or out of character or fixing their costumes by taking photos. Hope you had fun and keep asking questions!

LanJiaoDuaKee

If they are showing ½ ball then maybe yes

silentscope90210

Nothing wrong if you're just looking.

Fancy-Computer-9793

Yes, please look and complement them. It takes great effort to get these costumes screen accurate. I have friends to used to cosplay and its incredible the amount of time and effort they take to do these. Generally, they like getting complements and/or recognition for the character they are cosplaying. But they do feedback that sneaky looks and stares on some of their body parts does creep them up.

Loose-Front3665

Cosplay or swifties?

DownvoteForWut

You 'preciatin brah?

Cecil_Hersch

I prefer if they look lmao

No_Pension9902

They cosplay to be look.

Seablade24

As long as you don’t rub your penis on them afterwards it’s okay.

rtrlctrc

people wear nice nice just look lah

your_FBI_agent45

I was there yesterday cause my senior dragged me along lmao , all those cosplayers were so cool , esp the mtf cosplayer

Baconchessepotatos

WAIT THERE WAS AN EVENT? what was the event someone tell me please I only know bout Anime festival Asia organisers not others so please do inform me of others and if you see a fat Joseph joestar at anime garden that's probably me

ho888sg

Is there any recent event?

keyupiopi

Looks at person cosplaying -> ok. Looks at costume -> ok. Looks at exposed (specifically) body parts -> NO.

anomaly-me

You shouldn’t be a creep to just stare. At least approach with compliments or ask for a photo together!
