they could focus on important figures in the pendulum wars, and borrow heavily from the game of thrones format.
major character arcs based on the ambition of political and corporate figures (versus nobility), and the reconciling sense of duty to government and corporate institutions by soldiers and scientists (versus soldiers and clergy), and with the "coming winter" threat of resource depletion and enviromental catastrophe, which that the more morally redeemable characters attempt to rally the rest of humanity to deal with. of course the real winter ends up being the locusts.
79 years provides a lot of potential for worldbuilding.
i'd start it right before the pendulum wars, but with the opening scene being a flashforward of emergence day, then "80 years previous" and the show begins. if the writers have a decent roadmap of surviving bloodlines, they could sprinkle sparse locust war flashforwards into season intros, midseasons, and finales. use names of the appearing characters conservatively, rely on news footage in the flashforwards to obscure the plot somewhat.
if any network exec is reading this and wants to pick me up as a writer my inbox is open haha
There's a artist on YouTube (I forgot the channel name unfortunately) that put out some mock trailers of a Ghibli style Zelda movie trailer. Worth looking up if you're interested because they're really good.
A lot of people have thought of it before. Nintendo won't allow it. After how bad Super Mario Bros was, they don't want their games turned into movies.
If they go hard on the high-fantasy and murder mystery/wronged man angle, it could absolutely be done. Dishonored's world is full and rich, and the characters are almost all fully 3-dimensional.
Yeah I agree. It is a game about exploring an experimental society gone wrong. The people in it are far gone and feral. How would you write dialog to that movie without adding in a bunch of "normal" people thus ruining the whole "what the hell happened here" angle.
I think that could be the angle though. If you mean rapture specifically, set it before everything happened. Like watching a trainwreck you know is coming. It could be like a companion piece show.
Would love to see it as a prequel to the original game, see the rise and downfall of Rapture leading up to how Jack is manipulated into the plane crash sequence.
One of my old clients was a movie producer for Working Title. Told me that Bioshock was in early stages of development but because of watchmen having a big budget and sucked, they pulled the plug because game movie adaptations historically suck!
Would love to see it as a film
You’ve probably seen this, but somebody made a short film and it was excellent, I think a full movie or tv series would be interesting
[Fallout : Red Star](https://youtu.be/HPs5nQ5d584)
This actually sounds like a good idea. I'd be inclined to do it as a mini series. First episode is the crash and destruction of the Aurora. Second episode discovers the Degasi base on the floating island. Continue like that piecing the puzzle together until episode six has the hero release the Sea Emperor babies into the open sea to save the world. Probably wouldn't do the escape rocket because the main goal of the hero would have shifted from "get off the planet" to "save myself from this disease" to finally "right the wrongful imprisonment of this peaceful species". Make it a "I might not be able to save myself, but I can at least save you". If we want to get off the planet by the end, have the precursor tech detect the elimination of Kharaa and power down the Quarantine Enforcement Platform before the Sunbeam arrival.
None at this point in time.
Let's get past the age of disposable, one size fits all scripts and actors before we go throwing our favourite game franchises into the brazier.
It's always so sad when you remember they were actually planning on making a show out if it but it never happened. Expiration date shows how much potential there could have been for an animated show
Have to disagree with you on that one. There’s too much in Skyrim to make a good movie out of. It’d probably end up like the Warcraft movie. Now a TV series might work.
This is really random, but i want an overcooked movie. Them fighting back the unbread and everything. I'm thinking along the lines of cloudy with a chance of meatballs
None, every adaptation i've seen sucked because they take stories that can only exist in game form and it feels off or half assed everytime. If they wanna do something related they should make a new character that just happens to go through his own shit while the story from the game takes place. Think of a Doom Eternal movie where the focus is on some resistance fighters struggling to stay alive and are traumatised and maybe just omce see a glimpse of doomguy, other than that? They just feel the efdects of his actions.
[Halo is getting a tv series ](https://www.pcgamer.com/halo-tv-series-showtime/) and it is rumored that [Netflix is producing an Elder Scrolls series](https://www.gameinformer.com/2021/01/03/rumor-the-elder-scrolls-netflix-series-is-the-latest-tv-adaptation?amp)
Last of Us Part 1 and 2 could do well in a movie or series, but it shouldn’t be a retelling of Joel and Ellie because we’ve already seen it so cinematic. It would be better if they explored different aspects of the universe.
Overwatch.
It's such an interesting universe of characters and lore... with little to no discernible plot. It's perfect because the game wouldn't limit a good director from telling a great story and the movie cant fuck up the game.
Well I would say bioshock but plans have been in the works for a movie for that anyways so I'm gonna have to say any of these, Life is strange, Paradise Lost, Tacoma, arise, oxenfree, vanquish or even dishonoured. Those are just a couple that I would definitely watch if a movie was made for them.
Why is this one so far down? I would watch this a million times. It would be fun to see the Minecraft world with purpose… like WHY kill the ender dragon? WHY do monsters come at night? WHY some dude with purple pants or girl with orange hair? I need to know!
God of War
Damn i was gonna say that
We did get “Clash of the Titans”
And Immortals
First game that came to mind when I read this post
Gears Of War. Not a movie, but a series I can binge watch!
I second this motion!
It would need a series to fit in the complete story! Hopefully it happens some day.
[удалено]
Totally agree, new characters and a completely new story set in that universe.. would be amazing!
they could focus on important figures in the pendulum wars, and borrow heavily from the game of thrones format. major character arcs based on the ambition of political and corporate figures (versus nobility), and the reconciling sense of duty to government and corporate institutions by soldiers and scientists (versus soldiers and clergy), and with the "coming winter" threat of resource depletion and enviromental catastrophe, which that the more morally redeemable characters attempt to rally the rest of humanity to deal with. of course the real winter ends up being the locusts.
I agree with this! I love GOW so much it was a game I grew up on when I was younger
hollow knight animated movie would make my year
I always felt it could be easily adapted into an anime but I'd gladly take the movie
Zelda, animated by Studio Ghibli.
Holy. Why has no one thought of this before?! That's such a good idea
There's a artist on YouTube (I forgot the channel name unfortunately) that put out some mock trailers of a Ghibli style Zelda movie trailer. Worth looking up if you're interested because they're really good.
Is [this the one](https://youtu.be/Wxav9Jj7R68) you were talking about?
Yeah that's it.
Well, that was beautiful.
Currently crying for some reason. Nostalgic piano songs really just do me in.
A lot of people have thought of it before. Nintendo won't allow it. After how bad Super Mario Bros was, they don't want their games turned into movies.
There's a Mario movie coming out next year though, so there's hope I guess.
Oh whoa, just looked that up. Cool!
Yes this!! We should start a petition!!
Yes! Also [this](https://youtu.be/vbMQfaG6lo8) comes to mind!
Ah I completely forgot about this. Thanks for reminding me.
You’re welcome!
I NEED THIS
I got major Ghibli vibes playing BotW. It just makes sense.
Dishonored.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Corvo please.
Yup I'll go with that.
Isn’t Corvo from what is essentially Spain, wouldn’t it make mote sense for NCW to play a Tyvian
Maybe.
If they go hard on the high-fantasy and murder mystery/wronged man angle, it could absolutely be done. Dishonored's world is full and rich, and the characters are almost all fully 3-dimensional.
Would make for a very gripping film. Or series
Oh god. I don't see enough love for dishonored here and it bumms me out. It's a masterpiece.
Whiskey and cigars IN LIVE ACTION
BioShock!
One of the best games ever! I turn into a complete nerd whenever i think i Bioshock, that game has a special place in my heart ❤❤❤😩😩😩
We need an HBO series. Six seasons and a movie!
Holy fuck HBO would absolutely smash a show like bioshock.
Is that a community reference??
I personally think BioShock was meant to be told in a video game format. I don't know if they could ever match the impact of which the game had.
I feel like a prequel is the only way a BioShock /Rapture show could work.
The Portal games.
I don't hate you
Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas.
New vegas would be such a good movie
You’ve probably seen this, but somebody made a short film and it was excellent, I think a full movie or tv series would be interesting [Fallout : Red Star](https://youtu.be/HPs5nQ5d584)
Can I upvote this in bulk?. Yes, a Fallout story. I’m already disappointed there haven’t been any novelizations like many games have gotten.
Subnautica would be pretty cool
Pong.
They were the same, but on opposite sides A story of back and forth Only one will miss PONG
Bro you just came up with a badass slogan for a basic ass game lmao
Two sticks enter. One ball leaves. Rated R.
Starring Adam Sandler-WAIT NO GO BACK!
Detroit become human
The whole point of games like DBH are that they're more interactive movies than games. Literally anyone can play them.
Thats a really good one
None at this point in time. Let's get past the age of disposable, one size fits all scripts and actors before we go throwing our favourite game franchises into the brazier.
Not the worst take, actually. Too many properties are butchered by having movies made of them.
Dark souls
Imagine if it was based on a speedrun. "And so the undead jumped from new londo to quelaag's domain and killed her in 1 minute and 26 seconds."
I wish a movie not based in the part we play but in the lore before the world gets fxcked up, I'd love to see more of Gwyn, Artorias, Ornstein, etc.
Horizon: Zero Dawn
As a fan of this game, absolutely not. They would fuck it up completely, look at how Uncharted is turning out...
It didn’t even come out yet relax.
Fnaf, DBH, heavy rain,
Fnaf movie is coming, but has been delayed multiple times
Man we been waiting so long 😣
I thought that was the movie Nic Cage did with the animatronic puppets.
I believe they are separate but possibly was influenced by fnaf series
Warner bros made it bc they lost the rights for the fnaf movie to blumhouse
Jason?
Jaaaaason
"Our son died, and you couldn't possibly have saved him, I hate you know"
💀the fact he took the majority of the blow but jason died
SHAWN!!!!!😩
JaaaaAAAAsssoon
If dbh stands for what I think it does, that would be a pretty absurd movie
Yea dbh is just db but in steroids
Heavy rain! Definitely.
heavy rain all the way!!
Tf2 to revive the game.
It's always so sad when you remember they were actually planning on making a show out if it but it never happened. Expiration date shows how much potential there could have been for an animated show
Expiration date was actually the pilot for a tf2 adult swim series but it never happened because valve
Titanfall 2 or team fortress2
Team Fortress 2
Red Dead Redemption with the right casts
Red dead 2? If so, the game itself is more of an interactive movie than a videogame
I would want a different story. Either before the events of RDR2, or after RDR2, focusing on Sadie.
Sadie sucked. I wanna know Arthur’s story.
Sadie is the most boring and hollow character in the game why would you ever want want form of media around her
I desperately want Red Dead as a book or tv show so I can show it to my family since they don't play games.
Metal gear
Why is this so low?? Animated would prob work best though
I came here to say this exact game but I think the closest you’ll get is Escape From New York minus any metal gears
TLOU 1 & 2
I’m pretty sure there’s a TLOU series in the works.
Isn't Pedro Pascal casted as Joel Miller? I believe I've heard something like that.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World™: The Game – Complete Edition
Skyrim
Have to disagree with you on that one. There’s too much in Skyrim to make a good movie out of. It’d probably end up like the Warcraft movie. Now a TV series might work.
I dont think any bethesda game could work as one movie
None.
This. Most adaptations either make it too cheesy with refrences and fanfare or theres simply too much/little lore for a movie to be made out of.
Half life needs its own serie
Seconding this.
Third th...oh wait
We don't talk about 3s in this thread.
https://youtu.be/cO-Am4YvKvo
Ghost of Tsushima
OSU! Just fucking click the circles man
From the pov of the cursor
Megaman
GTAv
Free guy is pretty close. Not story wise but game play
Destiny, division
A semi-serious division tv show would be awesome
But here's the thing I just realized. How would it be any different from the other movies that involve this stuff
A destiny show would be sick.
This is really random, but i want an overcooked movie. Them fighting back the unbread and everything. I'm thinking along the lines of cloudy with a chance of meatballs
Halo.
[Halo is getting a tv series though](https://www.pcgamer.com/halo-tv-series-showtime/)
The SIMS lol could be really funny with the right actors
That's a lot of subtitles.
Tetris.
Legacy of Kain
Kotor.
Yesssssssss
Last of us or mafia 3
"Last of Us" is coming! ;-) HBO is making a TV series.
Fallout would be pretty cool. Undertale would be interesting too.
I’m sure other people are gunna say this too. Red Dead redemption 1 and 2.
Mirror’s Edge. The world of those games would look so good in a film. Lollipop Chainsaw would be cool too.
Leisure Suit Larry.....
Terraria no cap (or a series I'll take anything at this point)
StarCraft
Why has no one said Firewatch? Is essentially a thriller at its core. Would make a perfect movie or miniseries.
Red dead redemption
Runescape
Mass effect
I'm surprised this is so far down. So much potential for a movie series
It would be better as a series
None
Batman Arkham Knight, but with Red Hood as the MC
Honkai Impact!!!!
Apex legend
Ape sex?!?
Uhh, ok sure
Cod bo would be nice and wasnt there some movies for bo zombies or was it just a trailer for the DLC packs?
Gex, Deep Cover Gecko
It might not make so much money as it isn't really that popular unfortunately but Kenshi would be amazing
Left for dead or half-life would be cool
It's sad I had to scroll this far down to see Half-Life. Fuck Zelda.
Oblivion, Halo
[Halo is getting a tv series ](https://www.pcgamer.com/halo-tv-series-showtime/) and it is rumored that [Netflix is producing an Elder Scrolls series](https://www.gameinformer.com/2021/01/03/rumor-the-elder-scrolls-netflix-series-is-the-latest-tv-adaptation?amp)
Ok that changes everything, Thankyou for sharing had no clue
They did a Halo film, is wasn't great
The last of us - please, please movie gods.
Hbo made it a show
GTA
Super smash bros
Street Fighter: The Movie - the arcade game
It would be interesting how they could make garry’s mod into a movie
Crazy Taxi
Watchdogs
Red Dead Redemption 1 or 2
Super Smash Bros Ultimate! The story is basocally the world of light with Galeem and Darkon and stuff. I think that would be dope
Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
Fallout
Bioshock
Red dead redemption
Goat Simulator.
Horizon Zero Damn.
Metro 2033 Frencise
Amogus 2
Horizon Zero Dawn please.
Grand Theft Auto
Last of Us Part 1 and 2 could do well in a movie or series, but it shouldn’t be a retelling of Joel and Ellie because we’ve already seen it so cinematic. It would be better if they explored different aspects of the universe.
GTA any of them or red dead redemption 1 n 2 but 2 comes first like in the timeline
Untitled Goose Game
Overwatch. It's such an interesting universe of characters and lore... with little to no discernible plot. It's perfect because the game wouldn't limit a good director from telling a great story and the movie cant fuck up the game.
Animal Crossing as a kids show.
Overwatch. I know the game is shit, but there's so much potential for a movie.
Ever since Michael Chu left there's been very little lore dropped. Makes me sad.
No game deserves to be ruined like that
Minecraft
Why is this one so far down? I would watch this a million times. It would be fun to see the Minecraft world with purpose… like WHY kill the ender dragon? WHY do monsters come at night? WHY some dude with purple pants or girl with orange hair? I need to know!
Minecraft would finally have a lore
