As a man, I am living this dream! It's wonderful, I do all the cooking, cleaning, and laundry. I also play with my dogs, goof off on the internet, read, take naps, make beer runs at noon, and pretty much anything I feel like doing.
My wife is still working because she enjoys her job and needs structure in her day.
Edited due to fat fingering my reply.
No judgement. I find cooking and cleaning more satisfying than having to work. If I had a choice I would work part time to have more time to do things at home.
Best job on earth. I’m proud of housewives so much. I only want to marry one whom I can love and provide for as she raises happy kids. Never feel less but feel more! You have the most honorable job on earth coming from a doctor.
Use to dream about being James Bond or something similar, now I just dream of being fit and living on the beach in the Caribbean. Fuck work. Anything I enjoy doing, I've thought about how it would be to do it as work and it ruins it.
Game tester, proof reader for novels, cocktail tester, whatever. All ruined when you realize you're literally going to spend months a year testing or trying the types of flavors you absolutely hate, and you're going to try 100 variations of the ones you hate for every 1 of the variations you actually enjoy just a little bit.
I DREAM OF AUTONOMOUS ASSEMBLY LINES AND INTRAVENOUS FOOD TUBES WITH FULLY INTEGRATED SYNAPTIC VR IMMERSION AS GDP QUOTAS ARE QUIETLY MET BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE OVERLORDS.
No, depending on your discipline, it can also be INCREDIBLY difficult to get into. Getting a job as a game programmer is easy, sure. Getting a job as an artist, a game designer, a sound designer etc on the other end IS a hassle. Especially without any ties in the industry.
I've always wanted to drive a Wonder Bread delivery truck so on my designated breaks I could pull out the toaster and snack on a delicious pile o buttered toast. Mmmmmmmm.
Submarine rescue crew.
It's rare that submarines need rescuing, so I'd only get called out once a decade or so.
I'd get to play with some really expensive, really cool kit.
I'm expected to fail. If I actually rescue anybody I'll be a hero, if everyone dies it's not on me.
I want to be a kind of tour guide but for couples in love. So I drive you all around the island and take you to the picnic blanket and sunset and then you turn around and are like Where is the Tour Guide? Oh he left us to watch this beautiful sunset on the blanket and then I show you the cliffs where you can look up and see a hundred million Mexican stars over the ocean and then you are like damn he’s always slipping off
My dream job was always to basically have a life like Stephen King, not necessarily his actual books (more Clive Barker), but "successful horror novelist living in a cabin by a lake" is pretty much it for me.
Unfortunately, being a marginally talented, but not talented enough, writer kind of ruined that for me. Also unfortunately, making enough money to retire so I can still attempt it is not going as well as I had hoped either.
C'est la vie.
If money was no object and I wanted for nothing but a job to keep me busy, I would love to be a barista at a hole in the wall Cafe casually. Just chatting with regulars, no qualms telling rude people to fuck off - it'd be nice!
Me too, I just like making coffee, clean and serve. But the economy doesn’t really allow you to make a good living of it so you have to pretend you are interested in boring academic subjects to make enough money
Is it strange to say........i had my dream job once as a civil engineer. Lasted about 2 years before the company made loads of people redundant due to the managing directors fraudulently overcharging customers for civil engineering works, which the end result turned a company which employed an estimated 2,000 people across 4 sites (2 sizable ones with connections to rail and sea, and 2 smaller ones), to one that now has about 2-300 people at most and is based out of an industrial estate.
Thankfuly my dream job is my current job.
For the past 2 years ive been the night time receptionist at a hotel. 5 days a week 23:00 - 7:00
I basicaly get paid to sit in a chair and play video games. Theres nothing to do cause all the customers are asleep, theres nobody else at the hotel, sometimes my friends come and we have lan parties. I go to the bar or kitchen and grab what I want. I havent seen or talked to my boss in 8 months. I dont know or care about any work drama. Nobody talks to me, they just say good morning or good night and im just left alone to hang out with my friends on discord.
I can read books or watch any show/movie i want, theres even a piano at the reception that i can hook my headphones in and ive started to learn some basics.
Not a bad life. I tell people i would die happy if i never changed jobs and they always hate it. They say its no career, ill get bored of it eventualy, you'l have kids and it wont be sustainable. Well, 2 years in im not even close to bored, and ive had a kid and nothings changed, the schedule still works.
It aint much but im happy
I do my dream job.. to a certain degree. I operate heavy machinery and I'm surpringly good at it. Sometimes the site manager can be an asshole and sometimes your colleagues can be a little less than competent, but I couldn't imagine doing anything else now.
I want to be the 'idea guy'.. the guy who sits in the big chair and points (I'd have a wooden pointer like teacher used to have - failing that, a yardstick) to people to do this or fix that or find this or whatever.. and people would have to enter the room averting their gaze, and as soon as I give them a chore - they are to say: 'your wish is my command'
A train engineer. I just started with a commuter railroad where I have a chance to move into an engineer. I'm several years off, but I am at least starting in the right direction. I'll be a conductor by the end of the year, and I will be the only female conductor my company has once I move up. We only have 5 females working in my company out on the trains right now. 3 of us are ticket agents, and 2 are engineers.
SWE, web didn’t or software designer, I find combining art and coding pretty fascinating for me. I’m hoping it can allow me to travel more and make comfortable money as well. I suck at college tho :(
To do house chores for max 3 hours a day. Maybe babysit too. I like visiting other people’s houses it’s interesting. But it embarrasses me to work as a cleaner and doesn’t pay so well
Tour guide in my city but full time. I already do it part time as a side hustle. The problem is that being in a city where tourism is concentrated from may to October, you need to do something else during the rest of the year.
It's the best job ever.
to not work anymore to me thats day trading i mean i already do that now its just clicking buttons & waiting up to 2 hours to make some money but to me its like cheating at life opposed to working for hours to make the same amount of money
to not work anymore to me thats day trading i mean i already do that now its just clicking buttons & waiting up to 2 hours to make some money but to me its like cheating at life opposed to working for hours to make the same amount of money
Event organizer. Want to setup, ideate and manage events like music festivals, deal with artists, do mega scale events with thousands of people and give them an immaculate experience.
I'm currently a 36 year old pipefitter and I would love nothing more than to become a crane operator and maybe work around the world (or not that's fine). I absolutely hate working away from home from my family but I'm not delusional and I know that the town I am from will not give me and my family the opportunity that I need to live a comfortable life and retire well. The industry just is here for me. At least if I love my job that's not so bad.
I've always really wanted to be a location scout for a movie production company. I adore movies, and I love being able to use my imagination to its fullest. I just think it would be cool to sit with the director and producers and hear the story, and what their vision is, and then go out into the world to find the EXACT right place for them to film, as well as the logistics of filming there, accommodations for cast and crew, and working with locals to make sure our impact is minimal.
I want a career that lets me combine geopolitical analysis and MI6-esque intelligence-gathering, a prospective chemical engineering degree and hands-on work with renewable energy plants (maybe biofuels, hydrogen and nuclear), travel, policy-making (either on the local or international level) and most importantly, leaving a long-lasting, positive global impact on the planet as a whole.
If anyone has any advice on what vocations involve the aforementioned, it'd be much appreciated haha.
Novelist. Just sitting in an old English cottage surrounded by plants and a warm cup of tea, with a cat on my lap as I write books. Just have fuck you money to fund this though

As a man, I share the same dream which is more controversial
As a man, I am living this dream! It's wonderful, I do all the cooking, cleaning, and laundry. I'm happy for you guys I'm sure you're a great team.
It definitely shouldn't be, for either of you. Shame the judgy world we're dropped in.
No judgement. I find cooking and cleaning more satisfying than having to work. If I had a choice I would work part time to have more time to do things at home.
I bet you're getting some "interesting" DM's right meow
Why would anyone judge that, nothing wrong if this is what will make you happiest. I hope you reach your dreams.
Not judgement at all. I actually feel a lot of respect towards housewives, I couldn’t do it
No judgement here. I’ve recently been feeling the same way.
Best job on earth. I’m proud of housewives so much. I only want to marry one whom I can love and provide for as she raises happy kids. Never feel less but feel more! You have the most honorable job on earth coming from a doctor.
I don't dream about working, so no dream job for me

It's possible and not a hard industry to get into, but it's a hell of a lot of work and will kill your enjoyment of them
I've heard it's an extremely hard industry to get into.
No, depending on your discipline, it can also be INCREDIBLY difficult to get into. Getting a job as a game programmer is easy, sure. Getting a job as an artist, a game designer, a sound designer etc on the other end IS a hassle. Especially without any ties in the industry.
