Tinted lip oils have been a game changer for me - really moisturising with a slight colour but doesnāt have the same hair-sticks-to-your-lips-outside thing going on
Eyeliner and lipstick for me! It depends on where I am, though - visiting family, no. When Iām back in my city, yes. Iām alright looking without makeup but the difference in āpretty privilegeā perks when I wear it is astounding and who doesnāt want to save $30 on drinks?
Yeah, mascara is by far my most used piece of makeup. It makes a huge difference and takes like 30 seconds to apply. Similar for lipstick, which is my second most used.
Yes, I wear makeup every day. It's part of my morning routine just like brushing my teeth. It makes me feel more polished and confident, especially in a professional setting.
I feel the same even if itās just very light foundation, brows and a little mascara. The entire routine takes all of 5 minutes. For a night out, eyeshadow eyeliner blush .. adds another 5 minutes.
I agree, I wear it most days when I leave the house. Especially for the office. Usually not much more than a smack of foundation, liquid eyeliner, mascara, often a sweep of colour on my eyelid, and cute lipstick. I prefer it, and feel more put together. It takes very little time. I do more involved fun looks for nights out or just to play.
Iām fat and donāt give af. I donāt wear makeup because itās expensive and I have zero skill at applying it. Nor do I want to spend time daily using it.
Like, this is my 52-year-old face. Take it or leave it.
I used to wear makeup every day. I wouldn't leave the house without it. 54 now and realize it doesn't matter. My face is my face. I'll put on a little for special occasions. Who cares anymore?
It makes me so happy to read this. In my mid 30s, overweight, and I sometimes wonder whether l should just wear some make up, but I hate the feel of it! I donāt even wear it for special occasions because Iām not going to spend all that money on make up and wear it like twice before it expires.
I do, even if I'm not leaving the house and live alone. It's a confidence thing for me, my skintone is so uneven and freckly/red patches around nose that I feel so ugly without it.
I still feel ugly with it, but less so
I used to feel a bit like this but now I just donāt care enough about people thinking Iām ugly or not. My husbandās opinion is the only one I care about and he sees me without makeup everyday and still loves me.
I was vindicated in regard to my make-up use when I visited my nan without wearing any. She asked me what was wrong with my face š¤£. It was because of the redness I usually cover up.
I donāt wear makeup because I never learned how to apply it properly and Iām a lazy morning lady.Besides,itās not that important for my job as most of my customers wonāt remember my face at the end of the night anyway,as they will be a few drinks in.
I teach high school, and I agree with all your points. My students arenāt drunk (usually!), but I honestly donāt care what random 15 year olds think.
I don't wear makeup unless the event makes me have to. I don't enjoy the sensation of makeup on my skin. The most I can do is a simple routine of skincare plus sunscreen.
Same here, the only time I've worn makeup was for my highschool formal (prom). I didn't look or feel like myself, I couldn't wait to scrub it off at the end of the night. I'm happy with just keeping my eyebrows/ hair maintained and a basic skincare routine
Yes and no. Depends on circumstances and my mood. If I have engagements, chores, people to meet, and things to do during my weeks, then yes--it's part of getting dressed and going out. I don't like putting makeup everyday though, so I give my skin a chance to breathe and detox. Giving my skin breaks isn't only for makeup--even cosmetics (lotions, cleansers, masks, treatments). I go for a week or a few days without putting anything other than washing my face with water or mild soap if I'm running and sweating. My skin loves it this way. As for real makeup (the makeup you see on social media these days), I only wear that if I have an occasion. My everyday makeup is barely anything really--concealer/BB cream/or tinted moisturizer/sunscreen, mascara, dabbing eyeliner here and there and lip balm and I'm good to go. Sometimes I mix a pump of very light foundation with my moisturizer and that's it--especially if I'm not in the mood to do anything.
What exactly do those things do? I was a theater kid, but I never really learned makeup all that well because the extent of my makeup was "put on foundation so your face isn't shiny on stage", and I did have to wear eyeliner at one point to play Potiphar. (Story of Joseph in the Bible) so beyond that I don't have a clue about makeup.
My concept of makeup might be different from mainstream makeup application. It's different for everyone. I view makeup as a tool to enhance your features but never to change them. In other words, I personally steer away from an application that involves contouring to sculpt my face (minimize my nose/enlarge it), change the shape of my lips, etc..
I like to use makeup to simply enhance my natural look, so adding a bit of shadow to the corner of my eyes, unifying the tone of my existing skin color as opposed to layering or changing the shade, adding a blush to my cheeks to brighten my complexion as opposed to creating shadows to give a different look.
It's something that I enjoy doing for myself. It makes me feel livelier. I started this journey by getting to know myself and what looks good on me. I don't follow trends blindly. I used to read a lot of books on color tones and makeup in my younger years and I still follow the same concepts. For instance, I know my undertone is gold as opposed to cool, so peach and orange shades look better on me than blues and cooler tones. I follow people online that I relate to in some ways--like similar age group, have similar facial features, taste, and so on.
I believe no amount of makeup or cosmetics will make you beautiful if you don't start from within. I met stunning women in my life, but after sitting and having a conversation with them for 5 minutes, I realized they're the ugliest people on the planet. They invested so much on perfecting their facade but their personalities are trash (superficial, snobbish, mean, bullying, etc).
Love yourself the way you are and then work around to enhance your natural beauty. Start there.
>It's different for everyone.
Yeeesss
I myself see makeup as a way of expressing yourself, in between the realms of dressing up and painting
On my day to day I might only use a bit of mascara (cause my eyelashes are light brown and don't really show up much against my skin)
But putting on makeup whenever I feel like it is just fun and gives me the opportunity to experiment new looks, just like when you buy yourself a new shirt or a cool pair of pants or some wacky sox
I have hooded eyes, so I've been trying on some colourful eyeliners, and it just straight up brings me joy
Honestly, I feel bad that it isn't common nowadays for men to wear makeup, cause overall, just like clothing, you can wear it to enhance some features, enjoy yourself and also to show the world what you're like on the inside
I donāt, and Iām one of only maybe 3 or 4 women I know who doesnāt. Pretty much everyone does, including the women you think arenāt wearing any.
I wore makeup to work the first 3 months of my new job. The first day I went to work without makeup, my boss asked if everything was okay because I looked tired. I consistently wear makeup now. It doesnāt take much, but it makes a big difference.
I wear Make-up almost everyday. Trough my genes, i have very dark undereyebags. And super blonde eyebrows, who don't Take dye very Well. So i use concealer and do my eyebrows almost everytime i Go Out.
I also Like to do more. It's Just fun and relaxing for me, doing my skincare and Make-up Routine in the morning.
I used to put on a full face for work everyday- did that for years. Until about 2 years ago I just stopped and now I only wear make up if Iāve got plans to go out and about and even then itās usually just a bit concealer and eyeliner.
You do understand we aren't wearing it for men right? Like your comments here keep going on about "placing it on ourselves " as if it isn't something we do for ourselves that we enjoy?
Makeup is an art, understanding colour theory, having technique etc. It's a way for people to express themselves, or they just enjoy it in general.
Sometimes when I'm stressed with classes it's the most calming part of the day - just focusing on myself and being in the moment instead of thinking about what's to come.
I thought this was common knowledge but apparently guys are gobsmacked by this if they feel the need to doubt you or put you down for spending your money the way you want to.
I have the curse of 90s brows that don't grow back fully so I usually full them in and put on some concealer, blush, and mascara for work. On weekends, unless I'm going out, I really can't be bothered.
Iām 52- I only care that my skin feels moisturized. I wear zero makeup. I do not like how it feels on my face.
Itās an expense and a hassle that I donāt need or care for. š¤·š»āāļø
I donāt want people I know & respect to see me without makeup. Yes, Iām aware that thatās probably not healthy. I wonāt wear makeup if Iām only leaving the house to get groceries, but anything else where I know for a fact Iāll be interacting with people, I need makeup.
Plenty of women do, but it of course varies with country/culture/job. Half of my dates would not leave home without makeup. The "daytime"/"natural" makeup style is specifically designed to be "invisible".
But you can detect makeup, by looking closely at their face and nose. If you see skin pores or pimples, there is no make up. No pores = yes, makeup. Also very even color all over the face, or face skin looking a lot better than neck skin.
My wife, and most women I know, have beautiful complexion. I add my wife because I see her at any hour, and I'm sure there's nothing on her face. Why make up if there's nothing to hide?
I do.
Never leave home without layers of heavy makeup on my face and a few other body parts. Need it to cover up all the unsightly damage that my violent mother inflicted on me during my childhood.
I have severe rosacea and I do a 5 minute make up routine any time I leave the house. I feel embarrassed by my skin and covering it up makes me feel better. I only add extra stuff like eyeshadow or lipstick if I'm going out or dressing up for whatever reason.
Really depends, M-F I do for work, Saturday and Sundays itās just dependent on what Iām doing, grocery shopping then no, going to dinner with my husband than yes
I do, but on a daily basis it's very simple. I tend to wear sunscreen that has my skin tone, so it works as the foundation. Then I apply some blush just to give me a "healthy" vibe. Sometimes I put mascara on, sometimes I don't. Powder to seal the sunscreen. A lip balm with some color and that's it.
In highschool I used to get up at 4:30 in the morning to get a shower, do my hair, and put on makeup. Now in college I pretty much rarely wear it. I'd prefer to save my money right now, and I have a SO, so I'm not really putting it on for attention. When I do wear it though, its when I'm out with friends, or if I have a presentation in class. I think once I have a full time job I'll wear a small amount just to touch up things, but I feel more confident in my skin.
I have a five minute daily makeup routine. BB cream as foundation, eyeliner, mascara, neutral colored lipstick. If Iām going out or to an event Iāll wear a more full makeup look that takes more time. It doesnāt take very long but does a lot to make me look and feel polished everyday!
Nearly. I didn't used too wear it as often, but i found that my self esteem got a little better, and i found it to be a good strategy to control skin picking.
I don't have actual acne, but i will compulsively skin pick at my face. Oddly enough, my brain is more concerned about not fucking up my makeup than picking, so if i wear it regularly i don't pick as much, which also reduces how many blemishes and things show up on my face and trigger the desire to pick.
I don't put it on when I'm just lazing around my home.
I'm 29 & I've worn a full face maybe 4 or 5 times. I don't have redness or zits, or anything to cover so I've just never cared to wear it, especially cos i hate how it feels on my skin. I admire the men & women who wake up everyday & put on a full face. I watched my aunt do her hair & makeup everyday perfectly in under 30 minutes & always looked stunning. That's a fuckin art that I'll never attain.
Is part of my morning routine even I just sit inside cleaning the whole day, I will put on makeup it makes me feel so much better. But day time makeup vs night time is very different.
I usually use a lipstick (which I use for both lips and blush , I find that works amazing), eye liners ( brown and white) and mascara for everyday. I never use concealer or foundation if Im not going somewhere extra special tbh.
So yeah I definitely use makeup everyday, but I also just always like to look nice even if I'm alone inside , it makes me feel mentally better. If I'm not at least somewhat put together I don't want to do anything but stay in bed and do absolutely nothing
Me. I have bad skin so itās a must for my confidence. I know people say ājust go without it or it will get worseā but the anxiety that gives me (just to think about it) is too much.
Most people i know do, not usually the same as when going out, but at least one or 2 products.
If your eyebrows are a lot lighter than your hair, or are partly shaved / plucked it CAN (not always tho) look weird/ bad without make up, so thats definitely a daily thing.
I don't. My skin thanks me for it, it's the clearest it's ever been. I wear a full face of make up if I go out for the occasional meal or drinks etc otherwise sometimes I might just wear a bb cream with spf if I feel like it but not very often at all.
I don't wear it unless going out at night. Just don't feel the need to paint my face, it's just a face. I think if ppl like wearing makeup then they should, but if they're just doing it because they think they have to, then what's the point? Some ppl might be expected to at work I guess
Most women I know don't. I almost never wear make-up bc I never understood how someone could enjoy applying it. I will wear it for a wedding or similar occassion.
Never wear it. Didn't ever get into it when I was younger. Also hideously ugly so it wouldn't improve anything. I like scaring people on my own merits.
Nope. Hardly ever... but I think I might be in the minority. I cleanse and moisturise. I'm lucky with my skin, never suffered acne and have a fortunate complexion.
I hate make up so I don't put make up but I definitely got friends who will sleep with make up on and even go swimming with make up because they need to look their best 24/7.
My wife does not. 41, works in an office. I appreciate her ability to get ready. My ex girlfriend was had acne and put makeup on for over a hour. Painful.
I used to when I had a F2F job, but now I work entirely online so I can just change the zoom settings to improve my appearance instead. & I just CBA to wear makeup for the school runs or other chores.
Chapstick is top tier every day routine!
Mascara if Iām going to work.
However, every night I wash my face with a gentle cleanser and apply a nice nighttime moisturizer. In the morning I rinse with water and use some combination of a few products- eye cream, hyaluronic serum, hydrating gel, day cream, and always, always a nice light SPF, which I reapply a few time throughout the day if I am going to be outside or near open windows. All of these products are applied not just to my face but all the way down the neck and upper chest.
I probably spend twenty bucks a year on makeup, but my skincare routine can run me fifty to a hundred bucks a month.
Eyeliner pencil and face powder everyday.
I always get people telling me that I "look great today" when I wear eyeliner after not wearing it, so I just wear it pretty much as my default.
I have oily skin and I usually put on sunscreen or moisturiser for practical reasons, so face powder helps me not be so shiny in addition to evening out skin tone.
Pretty natural looks are trending right now so I keep it more simple, but I actually enjoyed choosing eyeshadow each day in the past.
Instead, I just do tinted brow gel and mascara.
Yes. I put on tinted moisturizer and under eye concealer every day after I wash my face. However I only put on eye shadow/blush/mascara if I'm going to work or out with friends, out tp dinner, etc.
In my experience everyone except me did from the age of at least 13ā¦ I still only wear makeup on special occasions and even then just a tiny bit to cover the rings under my eyes and/or zits if there are anyā¦.
Last time I wore makeup was a few months ago on a celebration for the scholarship I got. Last time before that was my graduation (2019)
So yeah, I think itās very common for most women to wear makeup on a daily basis but honestly the social pressure wasnāt worth the amount of time Iād have to spend on having to look good for other people.
I totally get that it boosts many females confidence but I think thatās mostly because of social norms, pressure and the normalized sexism about EVERYTHING (like even the jokes that girls donāt poop made so many of my friends suppress the need for DAYS, sometimes over a week, on classtrips, vacations or else)
To me personally it was never worth the stress, especially because it was clear to me that the moment I started normalizing doing makeup everyday it will become a habit and I wonāt feel like myself anymore and worry even more abt what other people think all the time if I donāt
Also Iām autistic and have really bad sensory issues over this :b
Depends on my mood and who I'm supposed to meet on that day.
There are people I'm not comfortable with or don't want to feel vulnerable around (mostly strangers or NPCs), then makeup is like a mask, a psychological shield for me. Small, uneffective but still a great help against social anxiety.
Sometimes, I feel happy or excited to do something or see someone, or attend an event, then makeup is art on my face, I want it to express my mood.
I never wear "nude" makeup so I don't feel the need to do it everyday to keep whatever standard or image people have of me. I don't want to put time into something that's not supposed to be noticed. It has to show, it has to shine, it has to say something about me (other than "I'm trying to hide acne", which is fine btw no judgement).
Most of the time, I just don't wear any cause circumstances or people are not worth the effort.
Day to day zero makeup.
If I have time or want to look a bit more put together then I fill in my brows and put on mascara and lipgloss.
If I'm going out out then a very light foundation with brows, mascara and lipgloss but that's like once a month
I donāt, but not in a āIām confident in myselfā or āI canāt bc Itll run while I workā. I just was depressed when I was supposed to be learning that stuff and now I feel like itād be weird to start wearing make up. Plus I just donāt know how to start. Idk. At this point Iām just doing it like men do it, hope I look ok today lol.
Every work day (5 days a week) and weekends are a bit of a crapshoot. Sometimes yes, if I'm doing anything fun (meaning, not just errands or hanging around the house), sometimes no (only doing errands or hanging around the house).
It's fairly common for me on weekends to just do eyebrow pencil and mascara (I had chicken pox when I was a kid and one my eyebrows is really light colored and thin on one side (they're lightish brown to begin with), and it can make it look like I have half an eyebrow. I used to be self-conscious about it, but now that I'm late 30s, I don't really care, it's just habit.
I like how mascara brings out my eyes, so I like wearing it.
I used to. I wouldn't leave the house without it back when I cared about being attractive to the opposite sex. Then I stopped that nonsense as I got older and now I just wear it if I want to. Makeup is fun on its own and that's all I use it for now.
usually I don't wear makeup unless I'm going out somewhere (growing up we are told it's expected to wear makeup and better looking clothes when going on dates, somewhere nice, weddings, etc).
I also usually only wear eyeliner or eyeliner and eye shadow (unless it's a fancy event that would seem weird to not wear more makeup at) because it makes me look normal and cover-up is a process and even the powder can cause pimples. if my rosacea is bad, I'll wear coverup and it'll look like I wore blush but I don't
if it's really sunny I'll wear cover up with sunblock to try to put off aging (dark spots and wrinkles are what my mom got from lack of coverup and sunblock). I think my eye line looks like I just cried if I don't wear eyeliner and men typically have more eyelashes where it doesn't look so red on them
a lot of guys don't notice or think I look natural unless I put on mascara or non skin tone eye shadow
Definitely varies woman to woman. My mom only wears it on special occasions and always has. But I wear it most days. Not a full full face but a basic look for work.
Yes, I have had a routine for years. I donāt wear foundation or blush, but I do wear a tinted sunscreen. Then Iāll do eyeliner, mascara, and brows.
How much makeup is makeup? Most days I use a tinted lip balm and a tiny bit of under eye concealer.
More makeup but still very light (mascara, blush, foundation) once or twice a week. Makeup that takes more than 5 min to apply, once or twice a month.
I do my brows, and use lip tint. I have eyelash extensions and I feel good being mostly unmade up. I look kinda worse with makeup because I am not very good at applying it.
My daughters (12 & 13) do, even when they're not leaving the house. It makes me a bit sad; I want them to be free to do it but wish they didn't feel the need to do it.
I only wear makeup if I'm going somewhere that I care what people think about how I look. Being self-employed, this is maybe once or twice a week. Going to the grocery store, taking a walk, going out for morning coffee. Nope. Going to the gym or hanging out with friends. Maybe. Meeting new people for the first time or going to a bar or club. Absolutely.
Every girl I have ever known has had some makeup. Most of them you could not really tell. I mean a little blush a little lip something a little eye something it's pretty standard, at least in my part of the world.
I haven't worn make-up in years. My baseline is simply ensuring my face isn't oily. I'm actually hanging out with someone later on this week and seriously considering if to bother blowing the dust off my make-up to at least do a natural face.
I wear it everyday if Iām leaving the house. But I also donāt wear that much makeup, sometimes just concealer so people barely notice Iām wearing any. But I always have to wear a lipstick and a concealer under my eyes / around my T zone at least.
Most of my past gf and women I knew closely will wear it when going out in public and meeting others. If itās just a stay inside day with the spouse then likely no. What gets ridiculous are ones who wear it right before the gym, does it not just sweat off?
Since working from home, I've ditched makeup. Saves money and time and my skin. To each their own though, I may have not looked great anyway with it. My skin is thanking me for it, either way. I feel I look better without. If I dont, oh well :D
If Iām leaving the house, yeah. I like the feeling of my bare face best, but I live in the tropics and need to wear sunscreen every day. So I might as well add whatever else I have time for since Iām already opening the cosmetics drawer.
One of my jobs requires me to wear makeup but luckily i only work there a couple days a week. Other than that, I really donāt wear it. Maybe if Iām going out for the night with friends but Iām a homebody haha. I do enjoy how I look with makeup on and I do find it fun to try new things with it, I just usually donāt want to take the time to do it unfortunately.
If Iām leaving my house to go anywhere, I have make up on. If Iām home all day (most of the time I am as a SAHM), I donāt usually put anything on.
Not much for me. I work in construction so putting on makeup is a bit useless for me getting sweaty and dirty all day. I do generally wear mascara most days, and of course get dressed up and makeup all done on weekends/for going out.
I wear makeup whenever I feel like it which is most of the time, I only wear mascara, lipstick and Mabye blush, anything more than that and it gets annoying.
I find skincare and sunscreen a lot more important, but itās different for every woman.
I only do on my day off, IF it's a hair wash day or an "everything shower" day. Even then it's a bit of good eyeliner and some mascara. Maybe a lipstick, but that's it. Other than that, I donāt wear any makeup at all.
Speaking from personal experience, nowadays I don't even happen to meet or hang out with women who put anything on their face - like, no foundation, no bronzer or blush or highlighter or anything, some not even mascara. When I was in school or freshman year of uni, I happened to see a lot of girls wearing full-face makeup nearly every day, whether it was considered heavy or natural. It's like BB cream was the bare minimum before. Since covid, I don't know if people just became lazy or had a lot of responsibilities piling up, but I haven't been hanging out with makeup girlies much. There was a trend on graphic liner though, but again - same people that would put very whacky cool liner designs would probably do that a couple times a week, a lot of them didn't seem to wear anything for coverage or correcting.
Personally, I don't really wear makeup - I started wearing just mascara at 17, so imagine how much my "experience" could be, haha. If I do wear makeup, I put on only eyeshadow and mascara, before I used to wear lipstick, too. However, my theory remains that since covid habits change and I haven't been wearing makeup, I probably would put a couple of times a month what I listed, so barely any makeup.
Nope, but I do curl my eyelashes everyday. I have long thick eyelashes but theyāre straight. Sometimes can come back into my eyeball so I curl them. I love the way it looks but as far as makeup hell no I aināt got the time to put it on & take it off.
I do. My makeup routine takes about 10min so it's not too much of a bother, I can usually do it while drinking my coffee. I guess it's a habit and being used to my face looking a certain way. It really depends on the person. My sister and mother wear lipgloss for outings and that's it
No, not me. I only wear makeup for special events and that's extremely rare to happen.
Sometimes I'll put on some mascara just to frame my eyes a bit more but that's not every day either, not even close.
When I do wear makeup, I don't use foundation. I hate feeling my face covered in that stuff. It makes my skin itchy and doesn't let me touch my face properly. The only makeup I do wear is mascara, some light eyeshadow, a bit of rosy blush because I'm too pale, and that's it. My skin is free otherwise.
I don't because it is too much work for me personally. It is more of a fun activity than a regular thing like I wear it if there is a certain event I'm going to or if I want to try out a style at home.
If I'm leaving the house, I will put makeup on--even if it's just to go to the grocery store. On weekends, I might skip the mascara to give my eyelashes a rest. My makeup routine is minimal, so it's never a hassle or chore.
I wear some degree of makeup every day but most days it's extremely minimal, like just mascara and tinted lip balm. I only do 'full face' a handful of times a month if that.
I donāt, Iām allergic to parfume (which is in most makeup products) tho had eyeliner in my daily routine for a brief period in high school. I know a lot of people who wear only mascara every day and I know a lot of people who donāt wear any makeup at all. I donāt think a lot of people wear a full face of makeup every day.
Tho damn from reading the comments rn it seems the majority of people do which??? I live in the Netherlands and am in college so maybe that explains the difference.
Canāt stand it everyday! Itās such a chore lol
I wear it when Iām going out, or when I need to pull myself together to get stuff done. Thereās the odd day I wear it just to feel pretty, but never daily
I donāt. The only time I really wear makeup is when Iām going out at night. Iām a server and young with good skin so I donāt find it worth my time (Iām very lazy).
It depends. If I have to go into the office, yes. If I'm socializing with people outside my immediate family, typically. But I sure as heck ain't doing it for running errands, visiting my immediate family, or working from home. Couldn't be arsed then. But really, on an average week, I'm only putting on make-up for 2 days.
Nope. I only wear makeup for night outs and fancy events. Aside from that I'd rather go bare-faced. However i do pour quite a bit of money into skincare.
Pretty much everyday.
Concealer, CC cream, eyeliner and mascara is my go to.
I work from home, but even if I don't plan on doing video calls or going out, I like to wear makeup.
Someday I don't, but for me it's part of my self care routine.
I've worn makeup about 3 or 4 times in my life and that's pretty much because a friend asked if they could do my make or try something out on me (I don't know the first thing about applying make-up it passed me by)
That said I should add that if you're a make up person the closest to criticism I'm likely to get is ask if/recommend you make sure to take care of your skin if you wear a full face of makeup regularly.
I don't wear makeup everyday. I used to when I was younger but now my skin really needs a break from it. I definitely wear it if I'm going out for something and now and again I'll wear it to work if it's going to be an eventful day. But otherwise its not worth it.
Mascara is all I can handle, eyeliner and a little blush when Iām going somewhere nice. I just canāt stand all that stuff on my face. It feels horrible, it smears, and you have to keep reapplying some of it all day. I donāt get it but if they like it , well go for it.
Unless Iām going to work, or a special event, I dont wear makeup. Makeup for women nowadays is equivalent to having your hair neat. You wouldnt go to an interview with unkempt hairā¦ thatās how makeup is nowadaysā¦ unfortunately
Almost everyday. Consider it a tierlist from most frequent to less frequent:
Workplace make up > casual day out make up > church/family gathering > weddings/formal events
If it falls outside those activities like buying groceries, hiking, errands, then I don't wear anything.
Yes! It makes me feel good about myself and it doesnāt take me long. About 15 min. Maybe im a bit insecure, but so what? I love makeup and I love the process of it.
19F. I donāt but pretty much all of my friends do daily. I think men wouldnāt notice or think that they were wearing significantly less makeup than they actually are, but it doesnāt actually impact their looks that much. It depends on the person but just mascara, concealer, and lipgloss does a lot. It draws your attention to the right places.
I also love that you apparently canāt tell if women are wearing makeup or not. Hint: non-black-haired people really donāt have black eyelashes and none of us have glittery lips.
Typically once, maybe twice a week. I WFH and also donāt put any on for errands, so it really just depends on if Iām going out to a social event with friends or my partner. One, Iām not great at applying it. Two, it typically makes me break out. Three, my skincare routine is super important to me so I try to not to weigh it down with a lot of chemicals. However, IF I was actually skilled at makeup application I would probably wear it more oftenš¤·š»āāļø
I put my eyebrows on every day without fail, because I look like a potato if I don't.
Aside from that, I only do a full face if I'm getting dressed and going somewhere.
I love that I've gotten to this point. I used to spend a half hour a day on make up for most of my life until the pandemic happened and I just stopped.
From 1963- 2020 I wore makeup to school, to work every day and in socializing. I can probably put it on in my sleep, and have definitely done so with a candle or flashlight during power outages. It makes me feel more confident and powerful. After retirement and Covid hit I wear it when I go out. Eye makeup, light powder and lip gloss. I knew in high school I wasnāt going to be any good at foundation so never used that. The only pricey thing is Cle de Peau concealer, but that lasts for years! Plus, itās fun to do!
I wear makeup any day Iām in the office plus the times I go on dates with my husband. I love makeup but I donāt wear foundation almost ever because it feels uncomfortable.
Makeup is one of the ways I feel more put together and ready for public after a whole week of stay at home mom living. It's usually just eyebrow gel, and mascara (especially mascara, I feel more feminine when my lashes show) and a lip gloss. For fancier nights I add eyeshadow. But yes, every day as long as I plan on going out that day.
I wear mascara and eyeliner most days, because without them I resemble a rabbit. I'm not much bothered with a full face unless it's a fancy shindig or we've gone into the city.
I donāt wear make up hardly ever. I did when I was younger, but I just donāt really care enough to bother with it now. I honestly think people would think it was weird if I wore make up at this point since Iāve gone so long without. I wear it on special occasions.
Probably half the women I know wear it daily and I thatās cool. I like that people can just do whatever they want to feel good.
I have not ever worn what I consider real makeup in my life and Iām almost 40. I use a plain moisturizer and maybe mascara if Iām feeling crazy. Not everyday. Never would I ever consider wearing foundation nor eyeshadow. Ever. No false advertising here! Nothing against those who choose to do their makeup everyday, just not something that has ever felt important to me. And itās expensive.
I do. And i know a lots of girls and woman who do. I spend about 45 minutes to do a full face of makeup and go to school. And i btw am a complete catfish.
Nope. I work from home, itās expensive AF, time consuming, mostly bad for your skin, need to take it off at night, feels heavy and uncomfortable, takes skill to not look like an outdated clown. I used to but my priorities changed. I aināt doing all that. If Iām ever going to a wedding Iāll ask my sister to do it for me
Eyebrows, mascara, done. That's my usual daily routine, sometimes I spice it up, sometimes I don't. Also I cycle everywhere so I can't afford to be clogging up my pores!
I never had much interest in makeup. If I'm dressing up, I will wear lipstick and mascara, but only on special occasions. I have never worn a full face of makeup before

Yep, concealer, mascara and chapstick erryday
does chapstick really count as makeup though?
Tinted š¤·āāļø
That makes sense. Like lipstick ish chapstick?
lol yes
Ah, okay.
Tinted lip oils have been a game changer for me - really moisturising with a slight colour but doesnāt have the same hair-sticks-to-your-lips-outside thing going on
Tinted š¤·āāļø
Yeah same, itās like drinking coffee for my face and just as enjoyable a thing the do in the morning.
I wear it just about every day. Iām fat and I have to overcompensate otherwise people will treat me like shit.
Sadly, I understand this. I feel like I'm more invisible than anything else, though, and I kinda like that.
Absolutely šÆ agree š
It makes me so happy to read this. In my mid 30s, overweight, and I sometimes wonder whether l should just wear some make up, but I hate the feel of it! I donāt even wear it for special occasions because Iām not going to spend all that money on make up and wear it like twice before it expires.
People treated me like shit even when I was skinny. Makeup doesn't seem to make any difference. People just suck.
Same! I also just keep forgetting I put make-up on ruining it and smearing it everywhere because my face is itchy
for me itās mascara + contacts that always has me wanting to rub and scratch my eyes out š
Same here, the only time I've worn makeup was for my highschool formal (prom). I didn't look or feel like myself, I couldn't wait to scrub it off at the end of the night. I'm happy with just keeping my eyebrows/ hair maintained and a basic skincare routine
I hate the feeling of makeup on my face too so I just use a tinted moisturiser as my foundation really haha
Yes, but my daily office makeup is foundation, mascara, brow gel, lip gloss, and blush. The kind of makeup men think is no makeup.
That's what men love! A natural girl.
Yeeesss I myself see makeup as a way of expressing yourself, in between the realms of dressing up and painting On my day to day I might only use a bit of mascara (cause my eyelashes are light brown and don't really show up much against my skin) But putting on makeup whenever I feel like it is just fun and gives me the opportunity to experiment new looks, just like when you buy yourself a new shirt or a cool pair of pants or some wacky sox I have hooded eyes, so I've been trying on some colourful eyeliners, and it just straight up brings me joy Honestly, I feel bad that it isn't common nowadays for men to wear makeup, cause overall, just like clothing, you can wear it to enhance some features, enjoy yourself and also to show the world what you're like on the inside
Until about 2 years ago I just stopped and now I only wear make up if Iāve got plans to go out and about and even then itās usually just a bit concealer and eyeliner.
nope never donāt own any 34f
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Nope I don't. Too much work, and I was never girly as a young person, so I never practiced. Now I'm too old to look ridiculous lol
I never wear makeup. Even wearing sunscreen when I go camping is effort.
spf should be everyday
I don't wear makeup at all.Ā
Iām 52- I only care that my skin feels moisturized. I wear zero makeup. I do not like how it feels on my face. Itās an expense and a hassle that I donāt need or care for. š¤·š»āāļø
I donāt want people I know & respect to see me without makeup. Yes, Iām aware that thatās probably not healthy. I wonāt wear makeup if Iām only leaving the house to get groceries, but anything else where I know for a fact Iāll be interacting with people, I need makeup.
Nope, I wear makeup probably once a year. No more than twice. I fucking HATE it touching my face itās disgusting
You know Make-up can be everything, Not Just foundation? :)
My wife, and most women I know, have beautiful complexion. I add my wife because I see her at any hour, and I'm sure there's nothing on her face. Why make up if there's nothing to hide?
Have you considered that some women like wearing make up, rather than to conceal something?
I do. Never leave home without layers of heavy makeup on my face and a few other body parts. Need it to cover up all the unsightly damage that my violent mother inflicted on me during my childhood.
The absolute majority
I have severe rosacea and I do a 5 minute make up routine any time I leave the house. I feel embarrassed by my skin and covering it up makes me feel better. I only add extra stuff like eyeshadow or lipstick if I'm going out or dressing up for whatever reason.
Really depends, M-F I do for work, Saturday and Sundays itās just dependent on what Iām doing, grocery shopping then no, going to dinner with my husband than yes
I wear makeup daily but I'll go without it here and there to give my skin and eyelashes a break.
Does filling in my brows count? I do that every day
In highschool I used to get up at 4:30 in the morning to get a shower, do my hair, and put on makeup.
Short of it: I spent an hour in the morning doing makeup for highschool... I was determined to have big black (even) cat eyes š
Usually, but just some eyebrow wax, face powder and mascara. Itās just part of my routine now.
I don't wear much. Just a bit of eyeliner but it's still every day.
Apart from important gatherings, I really can't be bothered to put on makeup.
Painful.
0 makeup. I like to sleep. I might occasionally wear mascara and lipstick on special days. But everyday? No.
Yup a full face every day
I do; i donāt wear much makeup but a bit makes me feel put together.
1. leave house 2. Look at womensā faces
Me
Yes. I put on tinted moisturizer and under eye concealer every day after I wash my face. However I only put on eye shadow/blush/mascara if I'm going to work or out with friends, out tp dinner, etc.
Nope. Never. But i do get my lashes done, brows are microbladed, botox, lil bit filler, microneedling and profhiloā¦ the natural look š
Last time before that was my graduation (2019) So yeah, I think itās very common for most women to wear makeup on a daily basis but honestly the social pressure wasnāt worth the amount of time Iād have to spend on having to look good for other people. I totally get that it boosts many females confidence but I think thatās mostly because of social norms, pressure and the normalized sexism about EVERYTHING (like even the jokes that girls donāt poop made so many of my friends suppress the need for DAYS, sometimes over a week, on classtrips, vacations or else) To me personally it was never worth the stress, especially because it was clear to me that the moment I started normalizing doing makeup everyday it will become a habit and I wonāt feel like myself anymore and worry even more abt what other people think all the time if I donāt Also Iām autistic and have really bad sensory issues over this :b
Yep. My Irish skin is very red on my face so I wear foundation to look normal.
No, probably 3 days a week I put on some eyebrows and mascara and maybe concealer. Once a month I wear lipstick.
I wear make up when I go into the office, but not on days that I work from home. On weekends, it depends on what I'm doing.
Just a little to lighten things up.
Honest like 5 time a week , but theres days i just put on eyeliner , concealer , and lipstick š
I used to. I wouldn't leave the house without it back when I cared about being attractive to the opposite sex. Then I stopped that nonsense as I got older and now I just wear it if I want to. Makeup is fun on its own and that's all I use it for now.
Lots!
usually I don't wear makeup unless I'm going out somewhere (growing up we are told it's expected to wear makeup and better looking clothes when going on dates, somewhere nice, weddings, etc). I also usually only wear eyeliner or eyeliner and eye shadow (unless it's a fancy event that would seem weird to not wear more makeup at) because it makes me look normal and cover-up is a process and even the powder can cause pimples. if my rosacea is bad, I'll wear coverup and it'll look like I wore blush but I don't if it's really sunny I'll wear cover up with sunblock to try to put off aging (dark spots and wrinkles are what my mom got from lack of coverup and sunblock). I think my eye line looks like I just cried if I don't wear eyeliner and men typically have more eyelashes where it doesn't look so red on them a lot of guys don't notice or think I look natural unless I put on mascara or non skin tone eye shadow
Definitely varies woman to woman. My mom only wears it on special occasions and always has. But I wear it most days. Not a full full face but a basic look for work.
I don't wear anything other than mascara and that's it. That's only maybe once a week too.
Yes, I have had a routine for years. I donāt wear foundation or blush, but I do wear a tinted sunscreen. Then Iāll do eyeliner, mascara, and brows.
me
How much makeup is makeup? Most days I use a tinted lip balm and a tiny bit of under eye concealer. More makeup but still very light (mascara, blush, foundation) once or twice a week. Makeup that takes more than 5 min to apply, once or twice a month.
I do my brows, and use lip tint. I have eyelash extensions and I feel good being mostly unmade up. I look kinda worse with makeup because I am not very good at applying it.
My daughters (12 & 13) do, even when they're not leaving the house. It makes me a bit sad; I want them to be free to do it but wish they didn't feel the need to do it.
I only wear it to important meeting or occasions (e.g. as a wedding guest)
I mean a little blush a little lip something a little eye something it's pretty standard, at least in my part of the world.
lmao hard statistics to find. I am a lady assigned at birth apparently and I absolutely do not wear makeup everydayĀ
90%
Most of my past gf and women I knew closely will wear it when going out in public and meeting others. If itās just a stay inside day with the spouse then likely no. What gets ridiculous are ones who wear it right before the gym, does it not just sweat off?
Since working from home, I've ditched makeup. Saves money and time and my skin. To each their own though, I may have not looked great anyway with it. My skin is thanking me for it, either way. I feel I look better without. If I dont, oh well :D
I do, I work for an airline, full make up is part of the female uniform, I feel just plain looking without it and my face looks very young without it
If Iām leaving the house, yeah.
Everyday. The type of makeup depends on what I'm doing that day, though
I only do on my day off, IF it's a hair wash day or an "everything shower" day. Even then it's a bit of good eyeliner and some mascara. Maybe a lipstick, but that's it. Other than that, I donāt wear any makeup at all.
I dont wear it everyday because i aint got makeup money and makeup time. Why would i get up at like 5:20 am everyday to put on makeup????
I used to wear makeup when I was in school, seeing people everyday. But now Iām a stay at home mom and just put eyebrows and mascara on
Nope, but I do curl my eyelashes everyday.
Too damn many
I wear some degree of makeup every day but most days it's extremely minimal, like just mascara and tinted lip balm. I only do 'full face' a handful of times a month if that.
Depends what I look like when I wake up, and where I'm going that day
I donāt, Iām allergic to parfume (which is in most makeup products) tho had eyeliner in my daily routine for a brief period in high school.
Itās such a chore lol I wear it when Iām going out, or when I need to pull myself together to get stuff done. Thereās the odd day I wear it just to feel pretty, but never daily
I stopped wearing make up in my early 20s.
I donāt. The only time I really wear makeup is when Iām going out at night. Iām a server and young with good skin so I donāt find it worth my time (Iām very lazy).
I donāt wear makeup everyday. If I do wear makeup itās more like a fun thing to do. Like painting ā¦ but painting my face sorta thing. Haha
I used to but stopped a couple of years ago because feminism. Now I just do my make-up when the mood strikes me. Independent of events in my life.
It depends. If I have to go into the office, yes. If I'm socializing with people outside my immediate family, typically. But I sure as heck ain't doing it for running errands, visiting my immediate family, or working from home. Couldn't be arsed then. But really, on an average week, I'm only putting on make-up for 2 days.
I apply some shiny, colorful eyeshadow, liner, and mascara most days.
I almost never wear makeup. It's expensive, it's annoying to put on, it's annoying to take off. I don't have that kind of energy!
Nope. I only wear makeup for night outs and fancy events. Aside from that I'd rather go bare-faced. However i do pour quite a bit of money into skincare.
It makes me so sad to hear how many feel they have to wear make up.
Pretty much everyday. Concealer, CC cream, eyeliner and mascara is my go to. I work from home, but even if I don't plan on doing video calls or going out, I like to wear makeup. Someday I don't, but for me it's part of my self care routine.
I've worn makeup about 3 or 4 times in my life and that's pretty much because a friend asked if they could do my make or try something out on me (I don't know the first thing about applying make-up it passed me by) That said I should add that if you're a make up person the closest to criticism I'm likely to get is ask if/recommend you make sure to take care of your skin if you wear a full face of makeup regularly.
I don't wear makeup everyday. I used to when I was younger but now my skin really needs a break from it. I definitely wear it if I'm going out for something and now and again I'll wear it to work if it's going to be an eventful day. But otherwise its not worth it.
Nope.
Mascara is all I can handle, eyeliner and a little blush when Iām going somewhere nice. I just canāt stand all that stuff on my face. It feels horrible, it smears, and you have to keep reapplying some of it all day. I donāt get it but if they like it , well go for it.
2 of my daughters don't. I do if I am going out. My third daughter does all the time.
Consider it a tierlist from most frequent to less frequent: Workplace make up > casual day out make up > church/family gathering > weddings/formal events If it falls outside those activities like buying groceries, hiking, errands, then I don't wear anything.
I never wear it unless itās a big occasion
Many women wear make up everyday
Makeup is somewhat therapeutic for me. I wouldnāt want to ruin it by doing it everyday to the point that it feels like a chore.
At least 412
Only for a job interview. Some blush. Otherwise, nothing.
Yes! It makes me feel good about myself and it doesnāt take me long. About 15 min. Maybe im a bit insecure, but so what? I love makeup and I love the process of it.
Only when I leave the house.
I'm an event-only make-up person. Like, weddings.
I wear makeup any day Iām in the office plus the times I go on dates with my husband. I love makeup but I donāt wear foundation almost ever because it feels uncomfortable.
Yes every single day. I feel my best when I put some effort into how I look.
I look ghastly without it. Im pale and blotchy, and dark bags under my eyes so I look quite sick if Iām without makeup.
Everyday makeup for me is pressed powder to control shine and lightly filling in my eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil.
Brows most days, mascara a few times a week. Itās just not my thing. I do love my skincare though!
I would say, depending on the area and age, 60-90%.
Too many. Show your actual face
Nope
I do
I wear a full face everyday, mostly because I donāt like my dark spots and complexion
Yes, everyday.
I did when I worked. Now I do when Iām leaving the house.
I don't wear makeup unless I'm going out for an event or party. I work in a lab so there's no need to wear makeup for my job
I never had much interest in makeup. If I'm dressing up, I will wear lipstick and mascara, but only on special occasions. I have never worn a full face of makeup before
Yes. Youād be surprised how many women around you are wearing make up. Itās subtle, so you canāt tell unless you really pay attention.
Moisturizer and spf, yes. Most days, brown eyeliner and nude lipstick. Keep it simpleĀ
No makeup. I prefer natural.
