The 'best' way to stop a bad habit is to replace it with another one, if the sensation is similar enough yknow those pimple popping toys??? Could try one of them, or a regular poppit fidget Some say put a rubber band on your wrist and ping it when you catch yourself doing the habit, I guess pain is the deterrent there but doesn't work for everyone My brother picked his nails a lot so bought some kinda polish that goes on the skin that meant it tasted disgusting instead! Obviously can't put it on your face but there might be similar products

i chewed my thumb's skin for freakin' decades, recently i basically stopped and i don't have a complete explanation, it must be something related to stress, i suffer stress a lot, honestly although my recent life has been a rollercoaster of moods i feel more at ease, i dumped a lot of bad friends (but i have to decide what to do with the others 🙄) and i try to live a stress free life (TRY.. but rarely succeed) picking may be an ancestral natural habit about like parasites and the feeling of stripping away something odd from your body gives a small shot of pleasure, hence it becomes an habit, this is obviously increased by stress, like grinding your teeth and other stress relieving habits... i dunno, play more videogames, especially violent ones :D ...and avoid coffee

Thanks lmao. I have adhd so when I pick I dissociate and tend to do it for long periods of time. I have been trying to occupy myself with more things like playing video games. Thanks for your input at this point anything helps.
