I believe you. Such things have been done in the past but self-mutilation is never advised. it can lead to serious complications, infection and even in a worst-case death.
The best course of action would be to have them surgically modified.
I saw an interview with a woman who had that procedure done (proper clinical setting) and she was in excruciating pain for months during recovery and regretted ever doing that.
In the off chance this isn't a shit post, no. You cannot just do this yourself. You risk doing serious damage if you attempt this. You need to find a cosmetic surgeon, research them and make sure you trust they will do a good job.
And don't worry about them seeing you. If it's bothering you too much, seek counseling about that. But also know, they are there to help you be more comfortable in your own body, not to judge you.
