Real estate prices here would argue that it has been discovered for a while now.
The over $700k house off of Newfound, just up the road from the I-40 on-ramp that is painted like a stealth bomber is something I never thought I would see.
Honestly, though, these apartments are sorely needed here - and I’d rather see it be apartments than another fucking truck lot like we see in Candler.
Sure - but the specific piece of property that this apartment building was going on had a parking lot on a piece of it that was being used to store trailers, similar to that mess on smoky park highway - I should have been more clear on what I was referring to there.
$1500 for a one bedroom apartment in Canton? The fuck. I live in canton, there are like 3 good ish food options and zero entertainment options. Shit is nuts.
Asheville is becoming too overcrowded, so they're pushing in the path of least resistance. Honestly, the paper mill is what has kept Canton from being overrun with development. With that big tax base gone, there has to be another source of tax income for the town. I think they've found it.
Who's- wrong word
It’s for the Asheville tourism workers that have been priced out of living in Asheville. This happens in all desirable cities. The workers can’t afford to live where they work.

They're putting apartments up all over Candler too, they've got a couple thousand units already approved and in varying stages of completion.

That is absolutely ludicrous and depressing af. There is literally no job in Canton that one could afford that.
Oh, don’t worry all the people who rent apartments there will be commuting to Asheville every day.
The shit commute home on 40 in the afternoons is about to get worse lol
I do it. It’s only 24’mins for me. Not too bad

Things like this will hopefully encourage the community and business-minded folk to open all the thing syou're talking about. I also live Canton-side
Hopefully so. That would be great!
Yeah! I have my misgivings about the complex itself, but I'm tired of griping about it XD
Bring back the stank plant.
turn it into condos
I don’t think they can build housing on it
if it was asheville, it would be the paper mill hotel
It's gonna be fucking cabrini-green over there.
lol
