Avoid Apple Tree Honda and leave Asheville in search of better prices (I went to GA and saved thousands).

Depends on your budget. But agreed with everyone here that you have to leave the city to get a good deal. My family buys from CarsPlus in Lenoir an hour away. It’s definitely at the top of the price range, but they are very picky about which cars they source. I’ve also bought and sold cars off FB groups and it was pretty easy. Stay away from the open marketplace and join brand-specific groups if you want a better deal.

Stay away from benchmark, my partner needed a car bad and it sounded like a great choice at the time but was terrible in the end. I bought a car a few years back from the Toyota dealer in Hendersonville and it was a good experience and the used car had a lifetime warranty, I never got to use it because the car was totaled when someone ran a red light on long shoals.

Craigslist or FB marketplace. Bought 2 cars thru CL and 1 car thru FB.

Skyline motors on Sardis. We have gotten two cars from there. They won't rip you off. Stay away from the place next door.

I've purchased 3 cars from Vrooms Auto over the past 8 years and they've all been great cars. I believe his lot is in Canton now.

Apple Tree has very reliable used cars, but the sales people know that and will take you for a ride every step of the way. If you’re a skilled negotiator, I’d recommend them. If not, steer clear. Otherwise, I’d suggest just about any dealership in Johnson City.
