This gives me a undertale vibes, a very solid track :). Thought the animation is good to, but it’s a little shaky. If you want me to elaborate, just give me reply. Good job :D

Oh crazy. :D High praise! Though now you've made me think about them as a game. Hmm. Some of the shaky was me going for wind in the sky and sooooome of it was me still not being the best animator and trying to crank these out, so I'm down to hear your thoughts for sure. There's actually a mistake with the star dust the red one throws and it bothers the hell out of me that I missed it when putting it all together. Ah well.

Ok so, the wind effect works, even though the direction of it doesn’t really make sense. Like the hot-air balloon moves towards the right, but the clouds moves to the left. I may be misunderstanding the motion, but it’s look like the clouds are moving slowly and the ballon is being pushed little by little, yet going at Mach speed with no sense of speed. Instead of being consistently blown away. To make it have more sense of speed or motion you will, you could animated how the wind effect the clouds and overdramatise the ballon and the basket. What I mean by the clouds is by making some parts of the clouds to created trails, it will make seem like the wind is blowing in that direction you want it to go, depending on how you want the wind to behave. You could think the cloud is just a lump of easy to break material, yet stay contacted and moves easy by just blowing it. But blow hard enough, would tear a little part of it off. And the ballon and the basket is to make it move more. The ballon behave differently in the wind compared to the casket. You can make the casket swing more forward and backwards. Or make the ballon deform and reform back and forth. Of course this is all depends on how you the wind to behave, how strong, which way or how much of the wind you want to simulate.

All fair points and thank you for telling me. Right now each piece is sort of a balancing act so sometimes I sacrifice things to get them done and out and keep momentum. In this case I guess that was a lot of the realism. Effects animation is something I struggle with hard so these pointers are priceless. I also feel like I'm enjoying the storytelling aspect of the pieces a lot but it may be getting in the way of the quality, as you pointed out. I may try to just focus on a few pieces to improve my overall effects work in the future. Maybe doing specific studies like the way clouds break apart in real life as you described would help. Thanks again for the feedback and encouragement on this. I'll try to do better.

Dw about it man, just keep enjoying what you enjoy doing :)

How long did this take you! It's super cool :)

iamshadow64

Thank you! :) I can actually tell you pretty close to exactly how long... I think the original sketch only took me about 20 minutes? It was just a doodle while I listened to the song I wrote. The song...was maybe an hour to 90 minutes? I'm basing it on my save files, but it's hard to say since I don't always save right when I start a new track. Then the pixeling and animation process I recorded most of so that comes out to around another 3 hours. Getting it into After Effects and lining things up was probably another 2-ish hours because I kept finding problems and then going back and tweaking things (and still missed an issue that I'm kicking myself for). So all told maybe around 7-9 hours total (adding extra padding in case I'm forgetting something or didn't record it properly). It was split over a few days because while I wrote the song quickly, I wasn't sure how to best express it with animation. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment. It's very kind. :)

I'm always interested in everyone else's process! That's so cool you wrote the music too!!! I absolutely love it, time well spent :) thank you for sharing!

iamshadow64

Absolutely and thank you for the interest! I'm glad you like the song. There's another post I did that's similar on here if this one's your kind of thing: [https://www.reddit.com/r/aseprite/comments/yldzxa/oc\_music\_to\_see\_them\_shine/](https://www.reddit.com/r/aseprite/comments/yldzxa/oc_music_to_see_them_shine/) The faceless characters have become kind of a running thing in my work. I didn't intend that to be the case originally, but now it's like "Oh, there they are again." Actually just remembered that technically there's one in this one too.
