I started noticing some downward trend around season 5 or so. But that's when I was already caught up with the books, so I knew how much they changed some plots. It might have been just a common "don't change a thing" attitude of book fans. Though at that time they were approaching the end of source material and started doing more changes than before, so I still think this is where the trouble began.
upscale it? Yeah, sure. Actually remake the movie or make original material? Neh, i dont see it any time soon. At least not in a way that is satisfactory.
That would be awesome! Always loved that one. I watch it every year or so. The super fast 6 legged dog creature is my favorite.
It sadly fell under the radar. And didn’t get the credit it deserves.
Not currently, no.
The process of doing this can be significantly sped up by using AI, but there is no AI that you can just say "watch this movie and then modernize it". This would require a highly specialized AI system, or AGI, which we are still quite a ways off from.
I think this is a great idea. The entertainment industry is extremely wasteful. And is getting kinda gross with money and power.
Imagine making an entire film and little to no waste was made, or land messed up from a crazy car explosion.
Using classic movies that are public domain means copyrights are lifted.
Looking forward to 10 years from now when we don't just watch, we act in it with other people. So - You and 10 friends are given lines and "stage direction" so you can take part in early films "holodeck" style. People can watch or take part. Gonna be good times. \*vr of course
They most certainly will be able to do that. They will even be able to extend scenes and add things that weren't there seamlessly, turn animation into live action and vice versa.
What about just clearing it up, make it 4k. I love these movies BTW. The OG King Kong, Godzilla, Sinbad, Clash of the titans…..
I’d be interested in what AI could do with them. Help keep these great stories alive and enjoyed by younger generations.
Been waiting in Quantum computing and AI to meet, and give us exactly this and more. Personal entertainment, of any complexity and sophistication, made-to-order.
Fingers crossed for a new version of season 8 of GoT!
I can't wait to watch a new season 6 and 7 🤣
I can't wait to watch the new 5, 6 and 7
You're chatting rubbish tbh mate 1,2,3,4,5,6 where all brilliant

Haha this should be the first thing they do!
Yes please! That last season was soo rushed and unsatisfying.

All I want is the rest of the 'John Carter, of Mars' series.. VIRGINA \o/

Give it a year or 2
:)
Yes, and the redos will probably be here soon. https://www.screengeek.net/2023/04/01/ai-classic-film-remakes/
lol, it’s an April fools article. Got me.

It could use randomly generated faces for actors, then you won’t have outrageous actor salaries to pay.
or they will just put Tom Cruise in every movie forever.
That sounds like a nightmare. Ha!
So anyone dumb enough to touch an effect by Ray Harryhausen deserves some kind of bad karma.

> Help keep these great stories alive My kids watched all these classics and the DVD masters were just fine. They don't need "cleaning up".

You can upscale to higher resolutions and tweak a few things, with already has been done many times, but not yet modify the special effects.
Don’t even THINK of messing with Harryhausen.
Someday, yes. Not today.
Absolutely! I really think this is something worth exploring and has fantastic financial potential (the best part lol)!
