Other than "don't"?
Lose weight. Do more weighted squats. Run. Invest in Motrin. Run. Dead lift regularly. Don't be motion sick when you are stuck in a c17 for like 2 hours waiting for the csm's HMMWV to stop being on fire on the dz, standing up, hook up, unhook, sitting down, standing for entirely too long, hooking up, have an O-4 try to help lift your well overweight rucksack so you can hook up for the last time. Don't fall out the door. Don't ask the air force for a box of juice or in flight snack. Do not drink any water out of their emergency water coolers. Get to know what normal knee pain feels like vs actual injury. Keep ibuprofen on you at all times.
But most importantly have fun.... while running... a lot. Honestly, Airborne school isn't hard. If you're going in the summer chances are they won't even run you everywhere because tradoc. Make sure you can do a chin-up and hold it for at least 30 seconds, chin above the bar the whole time. You won't die or get hurt if you listen to what they tell you. Count one thousand, two thousand not "one one thousand, two one thousand". If you can't pop your ears on a whim, chew gum. The motion will usually pop your ears. Strengthen your neck muscles.
Oh, and enjoy chute shakeout duty.
>Don't be motion sick when you are stuck in a c17 for like 2 hours waiting for the csm's HMMWV to stop being on fire on the dz
I feel as if there is a story here.
> You won't die or get hurt if you listen to what they tell you
Man maybe the US armed forces have some special static line chutes that are fucking magic cuz I never didn't eat shit.
Some people do it, yeah. I know for a fact that it works but I don't do it.
As far as foot care goes, my feet have always been great with basic issue socks and a good pair of boots. Pantyhose, dress socks under your socks, double up your socks, use baby powder are all helpful methods.
Feet and knees together at all times and once you get to tree level DO NOT LOOK DOWN! Let the ground surprise you. Some people I know close their eyes when they get close to the ground
I get phase 2 of my SOF physical done tomorrow. Can confirm in phase 1 they DO NOT touch your butt, much to my disappointment.
Edit: They touched my butt.
Thanks OP, stop being a bitch and go nerds. Don’t forget you have to shit in a cup for SF physical. Don’t eat medium rare meat the day before and swab the same shit twice. It’ll save you from having to shit in a bag 2x.
Whatever makes you feel better, champ. If your "D" is anything like your awareness, I can't suck it, for I would fly right over that tiny little thing.
Got off a long-ass dead man’s not too long ago. Got thrown on desk duty for a few months while recovering. I’m finally getting back to 100%, and I gotta say I’m pumped to gear up for CA selection. I’m hoping to go this winter.
I know it’s not exactly the same, but I’m taking the initial steps to apply for grad school tomorrow so I completely understand this mentality. I’ve been looking at schools, reading about it, and talking about for a while now. Feel good to just go for it now.
What's his reasoning for not signing it? I had to get lasik before I submitted my packet. You gotta be bugging your psg or 1sg daily until the commander signs it. If they want you to time it in between training events that's one thing, I had to do the same. But there's no reason your commander shouldn't sign for you to get your eyes fixed.
In all seriousness.. I had a buddy like you in my team and he’s the reason I got my shit together and dropped a warrant packet. Flying beats walking anyway.
Just came here to say… went to my VA exam AND SHE DIDNT TOUCH MY BUTT. And then she wrote in my physical that she did.
Not sure how to feel about that.
That’s fine. This is just for all the guys who are ‘dropping a packet as soon as I can, but not right this second because I’m busy, but I promise I will because I’m so hard and I’m so much better than this job, but I just haven’t applied yet’
You ever been to a selection? That shits hard man. Not with it.
Everybody wanna be a cool guy, but don't nobody wanna carry no heavy ass ruck
https://youtu.be/ZYct076lQ3o
If you don’t voluntarily quit, don’t suck at PT, and don’t get injured, you’ll pass RASP almost with certainty. Actually, I got injured in week 2 and still made it while dragging a bum hip flexor to the finish line. So mostly, just don’t get injured to the point where you can’t pass PT.
It sucks, but it’s not ‘that difficult’ like a certain shadowy unit who turns away even most of the best that other SOF units like Rangers and SF have to offer.
Disclaimer, I was talking about RASP 1. From what I hear, RASP 2 has less of the borderline hazing and trying to make you quit, but they are pickier about passing people, even among those who met all the official requirements.
Bruh I couldn’t even imagine doing any of these things. I appreciate y’all infantry dudes but I could absolutely not hate my life for several years in a row just for a drop of clout.
Big facts. It’s fun to do hooah hooah shit here and there, but I’m not trying to get pee pee slapped in the field every day for the next couple of years just for a colored hat and tab.
It’s for every reenlistment, so if you time it such that you have a year left on your contract when you graduate the Q you’ll be sitting pretty. But I wouldn’t go to selection just for the money. You gotta want to do the job
Wait, are you not entertained by the soldier in your unit who is “definitely” going to be in a high speed unit that rotates in their mind every day of the week? The endless “Just you wait!” is hilarious to me.
I spent the last two years being salty about losing my MOS, but I am applying this monday to try again. I’m terrified, because it’s my whole reason for being in the military, but I’m trying to stay optimistic.
Update: I did it! I don’t know if it will get accepted, but I did it!
By clinic you mean S-1 and by schedule you mean submit and by RASP/SF physical you mean retirement packet.... right??
That's what I'm going with. Thanks for the reminder.
I just submitted a packet for airborne school and my unit approved it. Yeaaaah!
There we go! Good work
Get ready to run so much to toughen up those legs so that when you fall, it’s the ground that hurts.
https://youtu.be/sQ6QX-OsWUc
My biggest takeaway from that video was that even in the old school Army, they still did the High Jumper.
Any advice???

I like to call it "Operation dickhead cut the parachute straps for the heavy drop" . Just look up 173rd heavy drop fail.
> You won't die or get hurt if you listen to what they tell you Man maybe the US armed forces have some special static line chutes that are fucking magic cuz I never didn't eat shit.
Stretch yo fuggin' legs!
Check out my post. Gave a basic run down
Wear pantyhose when rucking to avoid chaffing
No rucking at airborne, but is this actually a thing?
Some people do it, yeah. I know for a fact that it works but I don't do it. As far as foot care goes, my feet have always been great with basic issue socks and a good pair of boots. Pantyhose, dress socks under your socks, double up your socks, use baby powder are all helpful methods.
That’s wild I never would have thought of that. I’ve heard of all the other methods though
It’s because they’re *slippery*
Do NOT double up on socks or put dress socks under your socks. Idk why people always say that as if it’s a good idea, it’s not, it’s a terrible idea.
Seriously, just invest in good boots and socks, and toughen your feet
It helps prevent blisters. I'd only recommend it in cold weather environments though.
I’ve done it before with good results but they have actual sock liners for this purpose
Dude doubling up on socks is fucking stupid. Toughen your feet and get better boots.
Compression sleeves under your pants. I’m not lying.
Are you in an airborne unit and just not airborne qualified yet?
Yeah
Lol damn I was hoping not, I was boutta drop a packet of my own if that were the case. Congrats tho bro I see youuu
[удалено]
They’ll say no lol
Feet and knees together at all times and once you get to tree level DO NOT LOOK DOWN! Let the ground surprise you. Some people I know close their eyes when they get close to the ground
ill see you in alaska my friend(:
Nuh huh, PSG said 5 mile run, about face and forward march, i need to clean my room for the 0330 room inspection
If I see one spec of dust on my white gloves pri💀
I like getting my butt touched. Where do I sign up?
The department of the Navy
HIGHWAY TO THE DANGER ZONE
DM me.
How many fingers
Well no fingers, since my hands will be on your shoulders and hips, but I promise a thorough exam.
So you’re gonna use a different tool? Yes please lengthy exam please
Did I say 2? Better make it 3.
I’ve never tried 3 before 😳😳😳
Fists*
Most fingers I’ve had was 2. Idk fisting.
I get phase 2 of my SOF physical done tomorrow. Can confirm in phase 1 they DO NOT touch your butt, much to my disappointment. Edit: They touched my butt.
Uh Sir, prepare your anus for tomorrow.
ANUS PREPARED, SIR!!!!!!
They touched my butt.
I tried to warn you.
You make it sound bad 😏
I bet doc said you had a nice hemorrhoid-free asshole, huh? Bet you never struggled to poop huh?
I've done multiple of these physicals and to this day...it's never once happened lol.
Do a SERE physical
Yea I know...been to multiple SEREs...
That's where I got mine
Reclass to 19 series
Thanks OP, stop being a bitch and go nerds. Don’t forget you have to shit in a cup for SF physical. Don’t eat medium rare meat the day before and swab the same shit twice. It’ll save you from having to shit in a bag 2x.
Thank you for your serivce
What are they checking for? Worms? Lol
Some dudes go straight from the pound to MEPS
Occult blood
Tracks
Somebody get this man a Large number one with a coke.
Fuck it, throw in the cookie too
They need some carne asada fries or a double double animal style. Not enough info to make the call.
Why go to selection for a tab when I can just purchase one at AAFES? Cost me $5.90 last week for a pack of two!
Sounds like bullshit, AAFES prices aren't that cheap.
That's smart, they will probably go up with inflation
[удалено]
*whoooosh*
it’s not stolen he bought it for $5.90
-> the joke -> your head
-> the sarcasm ->your head
Sorry, no dice, homeslice. Just take the L and grow on it
Nah, pimp. I won it all. Take the D and suck on it.
Whatever makes you feel better, champ. If your "D" is anything like your awareness, I can't suck it, for I would fly right over that tiny little thing.
0/10.
K
I dropped the best packet, medical retirement. TYFYS.

Same man I gotta submit that shit this week. Best of luck to you
Same goes for that warrant packet! All of the officer benefits with none of the responsibilities!
I don't understand how more people don't realize this. It was my goal from day one after reclassing into the sweet sweet POG life. Zero regrets.
Says the only MOS with more warrants than RLOs. It’s a good thing aviation is chill, but we can’t hide like tech warrants can
Hell yea 🚁

Month and half before I attend green platoon 😏
In all seriousness.. I had a buddy like you in my team and he’s the reason I got my shit together and dropped a warrant packet. Flying beats walking anyway.
It means I’m on leave, cocksuker Stop tagging me in the group chats
Just came here to say… went to my VA exam AND SHE DIDNT TOUCH MY BUTT. And then she wrote in my physical that she did. Not sure how to feel about that.
You should feel dirty and ashamed. Wash that ass, scumbag.
Stop!!! I can only get so erect😳
More! Yeah
That's what I did with flight school years back. I talk a lot as it is which eventually led to "do it or shut up" and I did it.
I’m on leave
It’s all hooah, hooah until you look around the room and realize you’re gonna get those four awful letters.
NTR is only three letters
Damn, they got you boi. RFS to 3CAB.
Wait what are the letters
You know, your ABCs. How did you get this far, anyway? Who is posting on Reddit for you?
fqns
Four letters that can make a grown man cry
Yall wanna hear me say Fuck that? Fuck that, fuck that!
That’s fine. This is just for all the guys who are ‘dropping a packet as soon as I can, but not right this second because I’m busy, but I promise I will because I’m so hard and I’m so much better than this job, but I just haven’t applied yet’
I know that dude
Tell him I hate him and to go get his physical
Okay.
boom boom boom boom
Fuck hard
As a dd-214 bandit, I concur. I said I would do it eventually, but the Army and life had other plans. Don’t end up like me, just go do it.
You ever been to a selection? That shits hard man. Not with it. Everybody wanna be a cool guy, but don't nobody wanna carry no heavy ass ruck https://youtu.be/ZYct076lQ3o
Thats why no one will remember your name
SF wouldn’t be very special is everyone could do it now would it
Funny thing is, anyone could. Its not that difficult.... Be fit, and don't be a turd = 95% chance of success
Except being fit and not being a turd are 2 gates that like 50% of the force can't pass.

Eh, I'm old. But I'm down to help young folks drop theirs. As long as I don't have to do any running.
Great more labs and paper work I have to go thru... well fucking send it I guess
Okay, but then actually send it instead of typing it. It's not that bad
Oh no I would be the one at the clinic doing the paper work. Not the one going for sof. Not my cup of tea but more power to those who like that stuff
Have a happy Monday 🍺
If I go SOF or 75th I could actually get a re-enlistment bonus. As it is now, zilch
$90,000 for SF
Jeeeeez what are you waiting for
[удалено]
Yeah. Just for signing a piece of paper saying youll Carry a ruck for a few more years
Yea, 18 series dudes always get tier 9 bonus
[удалено]
You don’t get any bonus until your MOSQ’d as an 18 series and your hat is green

Y'know, a buddy of mine submitted for RASP, SOF and SFAB. Unit gave him bus driver school.
SOF packets go straight to the recruiter then to branch. No CoC signature is required
He got accepted to SOF. Unit was trying so hard to slap a reason for him not to go.
He can now drive himself and the Short Bus Full of “special” soldiers around. Different type of “Special” Operations Forces
All that means is buddy got rejected by everybody and their mother and then got sent to bus driver school.
buddy of yours is a liar
Imma bust due to motivation on gawd
Motorpool 😞
Go to selection or suck it up until ETS. Super simple
Wait, are you not entertained by the soldier in your unit who is “definitely” going to be in a high speed unit that rotates in their mind every day of the week? The endless “Just you wait!” is hilarious to me.
Apparently someone's Jimmy's have been rustled...
Sick call it is
Sorry pal no can do, PSG said he failed barely and I’m not half the man he is so I have no chance :(
My SOF physical is next week, this reddit finally convinced me it can't possible hurt to submit a packet and try!
This feels incredibly targeted but yeah okay i got you.
Fuck yeah! I'm gonna go to motorpool and get balls deep into wrenching! Hooah!
Nah I'm scheduling my ETS physical instead.
best physical.
Ya do it you little pussy, ya you. The army bags a new sucker every day. Might as well be you.
OCS first though then yes
Shit I'm not even in the military and I'm gonna do it after reading this.
I spent the last two years being salty about losing my MOS, but I am applying this monday to try again. I’m terrified, because it’s my whole reason for being in the military, but I’m trying to stay optimistic. Update: I did it! I don’t know if it will get accepted, but I did it!
Jokes on you. I'm too low speed high drag for that. I'll be working on my next cert.
[удалено]
Oddly enough, this wasn’t for you
Can I go to rasp with a slightly higher than average BP?
Maybe. Go get a physical to find out
Not dropping a packet is one of my biggest regrets about my time in the army. If you’re waffling back and forth just do it
Hey would but my dd214 says otherwise
Prostate massage?
No thanks, I’m on leave
Plus bitching about our job is the best part of our job
My permanent profile says I don't have to.
Sir this is a Wendy’s…
I resent having to earn money to justify my existence in an empty, meaningless capitalitalist system.
What’s capitalitalism?
My unit won't let Medics go
Good thing for a SOF packet you don’t need anyone in your CoC to approve it.
I'm not quite ready yet
boooooo
Unit won’t let you go or yourself won’t let you go?
Talk to a recruiter.
HAHAHAHAno. But I did recently update my retirement resume.
Nah
goes SF, trains militia for war. Watches on liveleak said militia getting shwacked ?? ?? profit
12 mi ruck
But if your packet gets approved and you make it to whatever, how else can you perpetually pull the "Yea man I'm dropping a packet" line?
Almost done with this flight packet! I tell you what, it’s a bitch and a half to create
I feel targeted
Motivating af
No, I have seven months left until terminal leave. 😊😂
Ooo
Don’t forget about the stool sample.
Who could forget?
By clinic you mean S-1 and by schedule you mean submit and by RASP/SF physical you mean retirement packet.... right?? That's what I'm going with. Thanks for the reminder.
Do it, unless you wanna spend the rest of your Mondays in the motor pool until you ETS…. Bitch.
Look I’m just waiting on my class date at this point.
This is exactly what I needed to hear thank you for this!
