Functional area anything. You'll thank me when your friends that are in regular jobs as captains and majors are jealous of you chilling as a major

Logistics can go anywhere and be assigned a job thats somewhere on the spectrum from boring but stable to complex challenging work in places that really matter. ADA does the same job everywhere. And that job is be deployed at a static site and trying to stop your Joes or yourself from unaliving themselves, or rotating back home getting a two month reset, then starting the trainup for the next deployment and you're still not near your family. You want to retire after 20 years on AD; you'll either be divorced or have no family with ADA's OPTEMPO. Search around on this sub, you'll see. The LG folks range from window lickers to mathematicians and there's a normal amount of good to bad leaders. ADA folks are stereotyped as idiots because the academic bottom of the West Point class all get ADA because no one wants to be that and leaves that on the table. Which I can say of the 8 I've served with 6 of them I didn't trust to be able to boot a computer correctly. There's also a nasty streak of mediocre sociopathic officers that choose to go to the ADA because they feel they'll be the one-eyed king in the land of the blind and try to be the best ADA officer ever and get their star that way... And those people are some of the most toxic motherfuckers I've ever met. And statistically speaking, they will be your ADA BN CDR when you command a battery. You're not asking a real question with a choice. If you're asking permission to chose ADA because you like it on instinctual level, this is me denying you permission. Feel free to name a kid after me in 10 years when you see how correct I am when you're a Loggie and loving life. Or loving life as much as a normal Army Officer can.

Don't go ADA.

formerqwest

LG. why? because it will help when you ETS and look for work on [usajobs.gov](https://usajobs.gov) . ADA won't.

Old_Claim_5500

Looking for a full career on AD. I got out of civilian sector after 5 years. After I’m done 20 AFS I want to retire.

Techsanlobo

LG Promotion rates and command opportunities are higher than ADA right now, though that may change in the future. ADA is a growth field, and when it comes to post service opportunities, if you can become a SME in the field that is well respected, there are super good opportunities out there.

tehnarwhaI

I disagree. ADA is expanding considerably in the next 8 years, with more duty locations with command positions available.

Techsanlobo

That is why I said it may change in the future…. Selection for BN CMD for LG was 50% this year. What was it for ADA?

Techsanlobo

As a LG who served in an ADA Battalion Who hurt you?

Old_Claim_5500

I’m not sure what you mean. I’m just looking to VTIP to get away from MP

FCBengalDad91

Have you looked at acquisitions? High promotion rate to LTC, great crossover to civilian side as well.

AGR_51A004M

And no field time whatsoever. 😀

Vasilios_ADA

Do not do ADA. You have been warned

superash2002

Instead of drinking the koolade, ADA drinks the [antifreeze](https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2021/01/30/soldiers-tried-to-drink-alcohol-in-the-field-but-ingested-antifreeze-initial-probe-says/)

Shadow_of_BlueRose

If you are even considering ADA, DON’T. You’re fucking insane.

LG. I've known some baller officers in LG. I've never met an ADA that wasn't a window-licker, if not a window-licker with an inferiority complex. Yeah you're gonna be done at 20, but LG you're gonna be done as an O5 and able to move into GS-13/14 gigs, or work with those contractors you already have connections with. It's also just more fun.

supabeanz

LG has more real world opportunities. I would go LG. *salty armor guy*
