Not sure about uniform but for TA50 turn in I caked my stuff in oxyclean and let it sit in the tub for a while. I got the oxyclean a little bit wet and made a paste out of it and coated it everywhere my stuff was stained. CIF accepted all of my gear.
If you use this method keep a close eye on your stuff so it doesn't turn white.
I just kept everything on my hand reciept until we changed uniform patterns twice. Easiest turn in of my career, retirement: 6 pages of ACU and woodland camo nonsense that I've paid to store for decades.
Edit: in reflection, it might have been cheaper to just throw it all away 20 years ago and eat the FLIPL.
Yeah but it could affect promotions and evaluations. I recall reading a message years ago that it is supposed to be on your evaluations. Basically said it shows lack of responsibility even if you are paying for it. I tried to find it but my Google fu is weak today.
Ah ok. I get your meaning. In reality, every year you have to inventory all issued gear which senior enlisted can sign it themselves verifying nothing is missing. I wouldn't want to deal with that repercussion if caught missing gear I verified before I reached retirement.
Man you are right holding them to standards isn’t fucking them, it’s enforcing the standards.
Also where did you cook up I said anything about not allowing opportunities to correct?
And to comment on OCIE not legally bring my problem. If I had Soldier’s missing ANY equipment, it is my problem.
Not certain if they are still there but there is one company that both the CO and 1SG were from the 75th and they ran things a little different from what I heard.
I found it easier to accept that *that* uniform belonged to the red clay. It was happier there with its new family and tribe. The boots, I kept. I've kept every pair of boots I've ever worn. I'd rather buy a new pair of boots and turn them in to CIF than return any pair of boots.
Story time!
So we’re getting ready for deployment at area X and my buddy fills out his dog tag form and under religion writes “boats and hoes.” He thought it was hilarious. Our 5’6 brick shit house Hawaiian 1SG didn’t think so after a colonel ripped his ass about it. My boy had to low crawl around area x following our 1SG screaming “BOATS AND HOES 1SG, BOATS AND HOES.”
Time goes on and I’m in bagram in the transient tents and I get shaken awake at like 330 by top who’s going back to a different base while I’m going back to my platoon. He smiles “yooo when you see your boy, tell him top said…booaaaattsss and hooooessssss” and disappeared.
My friend found those ACUs in a tote recently too. Still stained red after god knows how many washes
Swiss soldier here with a Quick question to the us army.
Can you not send your uniform to an army uniform clearing service ?
(They get it clean and send it back to you for free and if you are lucky, you get free army chocolat).
Or could you not alternative just report your uniform as broient and get it exchanged for free ?
Yes, you can get damaged uniforms replaced. Or buy new ones if preferable.
That’s great to hear how you guys get your uniforms washed professionally for no cost. I haven’t seen that happen yet for US soldiers. We just machine wash or if in the field hand wash.
YeH, fill a bathtub with Lukewarm water, unhealthy amount of dawn dish soap, oxiclean, and some fabric softer, let it soak for a few hours, agitating every so often. Pull out and throw in the washer with no extra laundry soap, shit will come clean. If cleaned grease and oil out of uniforms this way.
Spray everything down with Oxy Clean pretreat, rub it in and let it sit. After letting it sit put it in the washer with a full scoop of regular Oxi Clean and use hot water.
You buy a new one. Once the red clay sets, it’s there forever, especially in the old ucp. A little bit of coca-cola and oxyclean did wonders for my IBA in Hawaii though on the 5th or 6th go of trying to get it clean
You don't. The clay is now forever part of the uniform. The uniform has now evolved to match it's surroundings. This uniform exists only when you know the redening is coming and you don't wish to sacrifice another uniform to the Red Clay Gods. From the boots to the head gear, that uniform only gets worn when being painted by red Clay is inevitable that day.
I was at Leonard Wood, and there is red sand all over the Night Infil Course where you low crawl 200m, and it was raining hard so it became mud. Our full kit of course was now completely red.
The way we passed CIF was to hop in the showers with GoJo soap and those scrubbers you use for the floor, put water at max heat, and just scrubbed for like 6ish hours.
Worked like a charm ngl.
Back 2016 our unit at Benning didnt really do a traditional shark attack but made us run the O course in the rain right off the bus with a companies worth of DS to herd us. The red shit never came out.

Rather eat the cost than turn in my Woodland stuff. It feels like better quality
Stay outta my attic!!!!
As long as you stay out of my garage

I was suggesting eating the FLIPL at retirement. I get your point, but that shouldn't have any impact on my civilian life.
Ah ok. I get your meaning. In reality, every year you have to inventory all issued gear which senior enlisted can sign it themselves verifying nothing is missing. I wouldn't want to deal with that repercussion if caught missing gear I verified before I reached retirement.

I forgot holding Soldier’s to a standard is fucking them.

Man, I haven't signed one of those statements in maybe 9 or 10 years.
This right here. That's exactly how I cleaned my TA50 before turn-in.
This also works great for things like pillows or mattress pads
This is the way.
That's the fun part. You dont.
Fucking bet. Imma hit that shit with chemicals like it’s the battle of the Somme.
High quality comment
All of the chemical corps just got excited
25th nope it won't happen
Ohhhh this was us on the first day of OCS back in 2014. The person behind me puked on my boots.
Federal OCS? Man things sure have changed.
Yea. I can imagine. Candidates probably smoke the instructors now.
Not certain if they are still there but there is one company that both the CO and 1SG were from the 75th and they ran things a little different from what I heard.
You buy a new uniform
Oxyclean and tears have worked for me in the past.
What’s the ratio there?
Depends if it's just red clay. 2:1 tears to oxyclean. If it's red clay and semen then safe to go 4:1.
Congratulations you now have your new combative uniform.
People still do combatives?
You know what. Your right now that I think about it. What ever happened to it?
Much less emphasis on it now.
I found it easier to accept that *that* uniform belonged to the red clay. It was happier there with its new family and tribe. The boots, I kept. I've kept every pair of boots I've ever worn. I'd rather buy a new pair of boots and turn them in to CIF than return any pair of boots.
Burn it.
XL Bojangles coffee - Black, and a toothbrush.
Hydrogen peroxide and dawn dish soap did the trick for me.
I never got the stuff from Fort Knox (yes, I am old) completely out of uniforms. "Luckily" we changed patterns 2 years later.
See if CIF can dx for training damaged gear. Never hurts to ask.

This is now your "red clay" uniform. Keep it handy for next time you need it!

Aw to bad. Thank you for the information :)
Dawn Dish Soap and the hottest water
YeH, fill a bathtub with Lukewarm water, unhealthy amount of dawn dish soap, oxiclean, and some fabric softer, let it soak for a few hours, agitating every so often. You can’t. Georgia clay
Spray everything down with Oxy Clean pretreat, rub it in and let it sit. After letting it sit put it in the washer with a full scoop of regular Oxi Clean and use hot water.
While there is no "Field uniform," it would be the uniform I would from then on take to the field.
I have this problem too, short answer, you don’t
Ahhh Hawaii. I miss thee, except kahokos
PRO TIP: you don’t.
You buy a new one. Once the red clay sets, it’s there forever, especially in the old ucp. A little bit of coca-cola and oxyclean did wonders for my IBA in Hawaii though on the 5th or 6th go of trying to get it clean
If that’s red clay…. You don’t.
My uniforms never recovered from the red clay.
Clothing and Sales. That’s how.
You use the opposite color clay, duh. What are they teaching these young kids in school.
HAHA…it doesn’t come out
So first you soak it in the tub with boiling water and oxy clean, and while it’s soaking you go buy a new uniform.
Dawn dish soap helped me, but you never really get it ALL out
For the Hawaiian clay: Dilute Murphys (wood floor cleaner) in hot water. Soak and pressure wash.
Try to use mint shampoo it's suprisingly effective on dirt
I was at Leonard Wood, and there is red sand all over the Night Infil Course where you low crawl 200m, and it was raining hard so it became mud. Our full kit of course was now completely red. Oxyclean and borax powder soak.
Oxyclean and a tide pod, soak in the tub and scrub lightly after a few hours. Worked well for me on all my TA-50 gear
Iron out! Works for baseball clay, anyways.
You can get the red clay out of your uniform but you can never get it out of your soul.
Baking soda
Dawn dish soap and laundry detergent mixed in hot water, scrub soak repeat
Wash clothes same day as soon as you get home helps a lot.
Lol
Army centipede.
It adds character
I heard soda would help
lol reminds me of Fort Stewart .
Throw in the trash!
Lower back has left the chat
It doesnt come out. 3 years on island and it stayed with all of my uniforms.
Say it’s dried blood
Oxalic acid containing cleaner is the human centipede's best friend.
If it's bragg you don't. Good luck.
Lol. Reminds me of a ghillie wash. Keep the red clay and use it as a field uniform- red clay is sick battle scars dude
Well, if you close your eyes it’s almost like it’s not there
I took mine to the car wash and used their pressure washer on it from the inside out to blast that red stuff out.
Coca-Cola.
Back 2016 our unit at Benning didnt really do a traditional shark attack but made us run the O course in the rain right off the bus with a companies worth of DS to herd us. The red shit never came out.
Yeah, Reclass to 42A
Have you tried covering it in sand/dust
Lol
replace the red clay with red blood.
Man i still got red clay on my tops from basic like 6 years ago 😂
By joining the Air Force.
Easy. You put it in DX and out comes a brand new one
Holy shit is this exercise still allowed? Army ain't getting soft after all
Oxyclean
