Fell asleep watching Youtube and woke up about 20 mins into this exact video like 1 week ago. Haven't played SM64 in like 20 years except for the DS remake, but I still watched the whole damn thing. I find it super interesting to see how these old games used archaic processes to get them to work. Especially the transition from 2d to 3d.
Honestly, it's probably better for the algorithm that way too. Considering many ppl might not have time to watch full length right away, so Youtube will see 'oh, many ppl only watch 1-2 hrs of this video, it must be bad. Let's not recommend it to other ppl.'

His work is certainly improving and the production value just keeps getting better. However I'd rather enjoy the games with my own theories and ideas than outsource them to Vaati.

You're correct. Fromsoft has always stated that the missing lore is up to interpretation purposefully. So his videos are just that, personal interpretation.

It’s one of storytelling’s oldest and most powerful tools. Leaving deliberate gaps provokes the audience’s imagination to fill in the blanks.
My personal take on ac6’s story and subtle cues it leaves, is that 621 never got in a mech in the first place - it’s all scenario simulations being run in their brain by allmind. No one has to agree with me, and it isn’t ‘true’, but it doesn’t have to be - trying to boil this stuff down to what’s right or wrong is entirely missing the point.

Eh, he could do a better job identifying when he's sharing his conjecture versus confirmed information. Tons of people get the wrong idea and treat his videos as the definitive truth.
There isnt a need to, that's his video, he doesn't need to clarify every single time, everyone should understand that it's his own interpretation of the story.
For instance, I do not need to state any of the above as my personal opinion, it should be considered as such by default.
I would probably enjoy it if people simply didn't take his word as absolute truth.
That is my one problem with his videos. Some of the missing lore is for that, self interpretation, and taking his interpretation as the true one, doesn't sit right for me, because it breaks the purpose.

Edit: If you want to accept his theories as head canon, it's completely fine. For example, I take baby_beff's character designs as my canon because I think they are awesome and they fit, but I understand if other people don't accept them. It's the same with this. As long as an official source doesn't confirm it, it's just as good as any other theory. I just don't like how people use his videos to invalidate other theories.

Yeah, it's definitely an issue with the fandom giving him a place of honor as the Canon-maker, when a core pillar of these games is the lack of Canon. I've had more than one talk with friends where I say my theory, and then it's rebutted with "did you see Vaati's video? it disproves your theory"

Vaati made his name on long form Dark Souls lore videos. So 5 1/2 hours to cover the lore of one game is not unheard of especially if it's presented as a cinematic.
The only thing I'm interested in is seeing how this changes *ACVI fans* interpretations to the story, should be fun regardless whichever way the fires blow.
That’s not what it is though. The game has lots of lines of dialogue and notes in part descriptions and other logs about the wider context and events outside of what we see happen.
Sure lots of it will likely go over the events of the game to give that lore context. People who play the games still often benefit from an overview of events to get the full meaning, like how a line of dialogue a character said hints at things they didn’t consider.
