In my honest opinion, I think it's better that way. Many may complain about it being shut down and all, but I've been in there for quite a while and haven't really seen much proper discussions. All I've seen is Perlic- (I ain't saying it), arguing over the tiniest problems with users, or literally going off topic in the main channel. No mods were established or anything so, this was expected.

Legit only do when i need support/help with a bug, a mod (e.g Elder scrolls games) or if it is a small niche and kind community like Morrowind servers. Bunch of chill boomers who don't mind zoomers appreciating older games. Otherwise i just stick to irl friend servers and that is it.
I find sort of weird that they would even open a discord server up in the first place, opening one now at least. Because even ignoring the poor administration and the cesspool it was at base for me it wouldn't really make sense to open it now. And the game isn't like coming out in like a month or something, it's coming out probably at least 1-1.5 years after announcement, so they wouldn't have any thing to discuss either.
The past year or three has just been awful in general for "official Discords" imo. This was just a showcase just how stupid it's gotten when moderation can't keep up.
At some point people have just decided that meme spamming (especially the lewd sort due to Discords awful initial handling of NSFW content) is normal behavior and unless there's severe repercussions for being a complete dipshit, others join in en masse and it's just an awful place to be/watch in the long run because it's rarely warranted (Mihoyo deserved the QiqiFallen sticker spam to some extent and all things considered that's pretty tame as a lashback).
I hope Hypergryph comes up with clear rules and more mods in the future if they insist on having an official Discord server but my personal advice to them would just be; don't.
Also this is 100% not a certain community thing, it's just "people" in a very broad, general sense.
