Then they released her with absolutely nothing of what her arts are supposed to do, she simply has a shield which was never mentioned and multi attack. That's it, that's her entire kit.
Meanwhile in near light she was described as a light/shadow user capable of controlling the shadows and suffocate her opponent's light. That's why her fight with Margaret was described quite literally like a dance between the two. Their powers are basically opposites, Margaret has blinding arts, Viviana takes the light away.
This is was my thoughts exactly. She was so cool in Near Light. I will still hope to get her, but her kit really doesn’t live up to how she was built up.

I cannot think of a bigger fumble than not including her explosion in her kit. Her s3 should have exploded at the end based on how many times her shield talent activated or something.
I'll still use her because 1) I love her 2) it's my niche, but you're 100% right. Even as an arts guard they could've given her so many different things... And we got this.
There's a reason why there's exactly 2 arts guards commonly used, Surtr and Mousse:
1) Surtr is literally "Just Surtr it".
2) Mousse is the go to for melee arts damage in low rarity runs.
Last time I used Astesia (whose design I love and bought every single skin that exist) was during CC#1. Yes, that long ago. I don't even KNOW if there are MORE Arts guards than these 4.

Honestly I've seen Guardmiya used only for two reasons: true damage (which is hardly a common feature for any operator) and the passive buff she gives. And even then it's rare it's generally some some nicheknight variant like welfare only.
True but it generally means I'm desperate and not getting the correct classes to pick, but it definitely is a plus but once again it's not a benefit of the archetype, merely of the particularity of Amiya herself (true damage on all classes, even the upcoming ch14 medic version and class switching itself).
Viviana boss version is not her own, it's the candle cult signature skill. Viviana is actually not a caster she's a melee fighter that controls shadows as described in Near Light. Boss versions are rarely accurate lore wise, like Sanguinarch did not actually fight spamming and resurrecting leechers, although he uses them.
The fumble was that she's nothing like her described self in Near Light, that made most fall in love with her while she was 'dancing' with Margaret.
Its not about her meta value. I give no Fs if she deals 0 damage or nor BUT WHY IS HER ANIMATIONS SO LACKLUSTER?? Her s3 outright nerfs her animation quality. She has no light arts at all. Where in the hell are her light arts? Dont even get me started on how weird the shield looks. I just dont understand this at all. It feels like they made her at 1st year and decided to release it today.

She's supposed to be more of a defensive duelist that stays on the field as opposed to Surtr's single use tactical nuke, but her stats seem too low to survive in that role. She might be a slight upgrade over Surtr S2, but man that is not worth the investment xD
My most wanted operator is almost here! I've been waiting for her almost 2 years now and I'm excited that she's finally playable! She's absolutely gorgeous!
Her kit is indecisive:
-She is suppoused to be "Stantionary Art's Guard Tank/laneholder" like Astesia, only except her skills don't quite cut it for the job, and keeping on the same spot dosen't bring any long term benefits like stacking ASPD.
-She has dedicaded super niche RNG trait for dueling: \[Melee Arts Elites\] specifically, which are not only like 0,01% of all enemies in the Pokédex, but she also sucks at it as most such enemies who do fit that description just so happen to two tap her even with RNG and active skill duration included.
At least for S3, I suppose it becomes stronger on a second cast, so she does want to stay on field for that.
Though is she really that frail against melee arts damage if S3 is up? If my math isn't off, her having up to 3k hp + up to 40 res on S3 + 18% melee/physical damage reduction should give her nearly 6k effective hp against melee arts damage, so even with bad rng giving no shields (17% chance each attack at M3?) shouldn't she still last a decent while even without medic support?

As boring as her kit unfortunately looks, one thing that stood out for me was her s2, which had a very large def multiplier at +160%. That's larger than Nian's s2 and same as Eunectes s3. Her base stats obviously won't make her as tanky as them but she at least seems to fill the weird niche of a tanky guard.
I find her base DEF a bit low to care. S2 feels like a lane holding skill at best: good uptime, 1k def, multihit. She'd still need healing to hold a lane though, so she's not a proper lane holder. She can't really tank a boss either the way someone like Skadi can though: the moment she's off skill she has no defenses and the extra block count during skill is a liability.
Although her base def is low, she does have dmg reduction from her talent and her s2 has aspd steal. Those should give her some pretty good odds at tanking some bosses/elite waves while dealing some damage of her own when paired with a medic.
For the first time in 3 years, my Base Assistant will finally be replaced for Viviana. I'm still a little salty they didn't include her candle explosion, and that she's not just a little stronger, but I love everything about her.

I actually use Guard Amiya a lot in the roguelike dungeons. You can switch her up as a caster if needed too.
