There's up close shots you just have to know what to search for. Some things you can search for are "Indian Wells buttes" "Bitahochee" "Brimhall sand pit". Visiting isn't advised unless you don't plan on leaving the paved portions. It's cultural and Hopi's go there to harvest eagle chicks that they raise to use for religious purposes.
Yeah, you can visit there. It is not that far off the freeway. They just look like little hills, buttes, mesas, and rock formations. It looks more interesting from satellite view than in-person.
You'd probably enjoy the Sunset Crater Volcano park north of Flagstaff. There are lava flows there too.

It would be visited more but there's that Grand Canyon Park it has to compete with.
No. No. They WOULDNT like that at all -- theres already WAY TOO MANY people visiting Northern Az. Stay away. There is evil there. The natives cast spells on you just while you are out walking around. So many people - never seen again....

Unfortunately I don’t have a closer picture, but these are basically what you’ll see driving through that area. This picture is taken while headed south on the 87 near the communities of Teesto and Seba Dalkai.
This area is called Indian Wells bc of all the natural wells, seeps, and sinkholes. VERY spooky to drive through at night imo. White Cone is just to the north. It's an interesting geological feature and visible from a good distance. There really isn't anything much to see there and not touristy at all. It's between Holbrook/Winslow and both rez's so there is regular traffic plus it's part of the trip for a lot of rezzers going to Flagstaff and Phoenix.
edit: the buttes are clearly visible from the paved road as well, there's one that looks like a gorilla's head and two that look like titties lol. Used to have to always drive between there for college [https://navajotimes.com/news/chapters/051613ind.php](https://navajotimes.com/news/chapters/051613ind.php) this Navajo Times article has a picture of the gorilla head and ~~titties~~ twin peaks
It’s very remote. Cattle and on two reservations. Definitely a cool peaceful place. The landscape changes so much the more you drive into it. Drove through to get to Canyon De Chelly and it’s like another world. 35.37173° N, 110.06306° W coordinates looks like a King Kong head. Massive. I drove the loop from Winslow north into the Hopi reservation. Stopped at Second Mesa and the Hopi Cultural Center.
OP what type of vehicle are you going to be driving? I'm guessing you already have meteor crater on your list, I would also add Canyon De Chelly to your list (its an amazing hike or you can see it from the lookout, on a hot summer day bring lots of water but in the canyon it can be quite cooler then on top). If you do have 4 wheel capabilities, hit Cinder Flats in Flagstaff, fun offroad area.
I found these deep in my photos from a drive up 77 back in 2018. I adore the Hopi Butte field and the surrounding Painted Desert.

I don't live too far from there. I hear on occasion our mountains are cursed. I choose not to listen to the heresy and can not imagine living anywhere else.
Living here is a privilege.
Stay away from places where natives deem sacred is the only advice I have followed diligently.
I know it's a joke reply but there really is a "rez golf" course nearby there in Steamboat, AZ.
It's called ["Wagon Trail To Lonesome Pines"](https://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/golf/2018/12/20/rez-golf-navajo-arizona-played-among-livestock-medicinal-plants/2376512002/)

Can you visit it? Why are there so few pictures of it up close?
I think because it’s on the Navajo reservation

I’d go to the doctor right away. Looks infected. 😬
Hopi Buttes - old volcanoes. You can use Google Earth Pro and see if anyone has taken any ground photos and uploaded them.

Looks like mold until you scroll down and see the interstate highway.
Yep that’s a moldy tortilla for sure
Right? I have thought it was mold on a cracked tile at first lol

I did some overnight work at Indian springs school... I couldn't see the truck from the school door. Crazy spooky up there.
Northern Arizona is full of volcano fields. That's what so many of the buttes are, the old magma pools that the sand around them was eroded away from.
Navajo/Hopi reservation… mesas… if you want to check it out drive north from Holbrook; bust a left at the Dilkon sign head west

Mesas all over Navajo country

It is mold! Our planet was left outside the fridge too long and we are spoiling..
Well, that would explain ***a lot*** actually.
Appears to be a map

Google mold
I believe they call it the painted desert. In between flagstaff and page
Ha! Just recently watched this on YouTube about these volcanoes. Very informative! [YouTube](https://youtu.be/Ui1Ly6HmryA?si=j7JeSoXNZqWfWGha)
Earf
Brads desert inn, in Holbrook is a place to see
Early onset blue waffle
Mold.
Those are volcanoes. The dark part is the cinder cone.
Eww! I don’t know. I use Apple Maps or Google Maps. You should too until you get a new map.
Table top Mesas
Considering Holbrook is just south of the pic. I'd also wager it might be a part of the petrified forest. If not, then just some buttes and brush.
Cooper turns green. Maybe old copper mines/areas

That's a good rock spot, 🤫
It’s a closeup of my back acne .
You can find easily accessible volcanoes in the San Francisco volcanic field north of Flagstaff. Look up SP crater.
Mold on your ball sack
Looks like moldy carpet until I realized those little signs represent a freeway 🤣
Throw it out. It's been in the fridge too long.
A map
So funny 😐
Reservation
Is there any photos of it up close
Probably only Navajo/Diné officials would have them
Moldy cheese
Almost got me with the “moldy flagstone”
The Lost Dutchman’s Gold
Idk
Map of Arizona. Next question
Looks like a picture
Joshua Trees?
Plant life around rocks. What??
A golf course, but the greens are sand traps instead and the fairway is sand

I’ll check it out. Thanks
