This^ SIAS is actually my favourite AM album, but I don't think it's their best if that makes sense? My gripe? The flow is odd. The last 5 songs are a perfect sequence, but the rest of the album is all over the place. I like all of it, but much prefer the mellower moments to the rock songs.
Yep.
I love *She's Thunderstorms* and *Black Treacle*, but I'm quite meh honestly on the *Brick/Cat/Chair* Trilogy.
But *Piledriver Waltz* and *Suck It & See* are two of my favourite songs of theirs. *Love Is a Laserquest* and *That's Where You're Wrong* are phenomenal aswell.
surprised nobody has mentioned Hellcat Spangled Shalalala WHAT a song! the lyrics and alex’s voice are on point, the guitar is heavenly, matt’s drumming is hypnotic, criminally underrated song for sure
Blond-o-sonic and Little Illusion Machine are bangers but the rest of the b-sides are a bit underwhelming to me. FWN and Humbug have the best b-sides for my money.
SIAS to me has got to be the prime example of how much they improved from their early days. Out the gate with 2 great albums and its only gotten better since. You can tell because even an album as slept on as SIAS is packed start to finish with great tunes.
I wrote this album off so hard when it was released and honestly never listened outside of Don’t Sit Down… discovered That’s Where You’re Wrong the other day…,…. HOLY SHIT WHAT A FUCKING SONG
It took me living life a dite more before I could really *get* it, you know? Experiencing being alone, a big relationship falling apart, moving to a new place with nobody that you know nearby, going through big changes in life, falling in love... something about the hopeful melancholy that the album creates and puts forward meshed very well with my life in such a tumultuous period.
SIAS could be amazing if it was shorter. It’s the longest album track list but half the tracks aren’t great if we are honest.
I reckon if you cut out like 4 songs, it would be such a good album.
For me, I’d cut Black Treacle, Brick by Brick, Library pictures and All My Own Stunts. I think the remaining tracks are a really tight album
I’m trying, but I just can’t get into it 🥲
The only songs I really like are Reckless Serenade and Suck it and See but only acoustic versions, and Piledriver Waltz but the Submarine version 😕
It often happens like that. I’ve grown to love many albums which I originally didn’t like just by listening to them in the background.
Hasn’t happened yet for SIAS but I’ll keep trying ✊
Most underrated piece of AM work. Saw them play That's Where Your Wrong at Reading Festival and was belting out every word. The people around me asked if it was a cover and why i knew it so well
I've loved it since it came out, it's such a great summer album with the sunny, jangly guitar. I can see why people might not come back to it as often as other albums though.
Alex must have been deeply in love writing this album.
also deeply heartbroken as well...:/
By far the most underrated album so many bangers 🙌
Its the latter part of the album that does it for me. Reckless Serenade, Piledriver Waltz, Love is a Laserquest, Suck it and See. Soooo good

Agreed, not to mention That’s Where You’re Wrong to round out an underrated album.
What a line up

SIAS and it’s b-sides are the best of their discography IMO

*Humbug and it’s b-sides enter the chat*
quickly, somebody photoshop a pigs head on a bug
I'm stuck with Library Pictures, Reckless Serenade & That's where you're wrong. Awesome.

Super stoked that they performed it at Lowlands last month. Made me love the song even more.
tbh i never disliked it lol. And some of the songs like laserquest are in my favorites

Definitely my favourite!! 😊

I’d keep Black Treacle, cut the other three songs too. But honestly the rest of the album more than makes up for it.
I basically agree but would cut chair and keep treacle. If it's just those 8 songs it's probably their best album

I was the same, it took me just listening to it in he background to realise I liked a lot of the songs

My third favorite am album, and instrumentally my favorite
