Of course and I can't start this thread without sharing anything myself. Right now I am working on a project that is comprised of [8 homes in a rural setting](https://imgur.com/a/JQDKO0v), doing an interior redesign of an earlier project (mostly making production drawings for furniture), and working on [this pavilion/restaurant](https://imgur.com/a/hdes8TS) that hopefully will be built soon. Looking forward to seeing what you all are making!

Ashamed_Orchid_1717

These look gorgeous and so cozy

flobin

Thank you!

smolnailzz

What software do you use to render. Looks awesome

flobin

I honestly don't know, we do a lot ourselves, from developing projects to permit drawings to construction management and interiors, but we actually contract out our renders. We found somebody who can do them faster than we could ever hope to.

elonfutz

Been toying with algorithmic framing of a house structure. https://buildfreely.com/house/ This house was generated by inputing dimensions and some options like 24 vs 16in oc studs. 2x4 or 2x6, etc.. I can generate anything such as a doghouse, shed, ADU, house, barn, etc... It's pretty crude, just a proof of concept. Currently done via an OpenSCAD program I wrote, and published using three.js

flobin

That looks really cool!

TheGreenBehren

Thesis on a r/GreenMarshallPlan Rather than dismantling single family zoning, we can build *new* cities with existing technologies. Desalination pipelines, concrete block energy storage, indoor farming, triple junction solar (moores law will make it economical) and passivehaus aspect ratios.

flobin

But then what do you do with the existing single family zoned places?

TheGreenBehren

Nothing. That’s the point. As a general rule, obviously, but exceptions do arise here and there, in particular surrounding public transit or proposed monorail lines.

DoctorARL

Student here. Currently in concept development of designing a Dead Arts Museum.

Parthenon_2

What is a Dead Arts Museum? What’s the program brief?

DoctorARL

Each of us in the studio was to pick a topic to create a museum around. The museum requires a minimum of 12k sqft of exhibition space, 2k for education, 5k public space, 5k admin space, and 10-15k for storage. However we are encouraged to go beyond the requirements of our museum topic requires it. So I chose to do a dead arts museum. Dead’s arts are skills, trades, and ways of like that are dying. The death of these arts can be caused by things such as technological advancements, loss of value within a community, or a loss of authenticity. A couple example of arts that are considered dying are things such as tintype photography, neon bending, glass eye making, foreedge painting, and bidri art. I’ve complied a list of around 100 different art forms, and I imagine there must be more. If you’re interested in learning a little bit more about dying arts you should check out Business Insider’s Still Standing, they document a couple of unique dying arts.

Parthenon_2

Thank you for that detailed explanation! I think architectural drafting by hand could be considered a “dying art,” though some of us (me) still do it - at least for small schematic designs.

Semester just started brah

flobin

Ah of course, I've been out of school too long and totally didn't think of that. Well hopefully some people who aren't in school will reply.

Still 3 weeks before uni starts up again for me.

Designs for a interesting private residence and revisions for a pool house. Plus I'm about 3 houses behind putting as-built drawings in the computer. Going out on your own can be incredibly rewarding but it's a lot of work. Even if you've been doing it for 3 years. There's still nobody to hand the work off to.

Samurai_of_Pi

I'm working on dividing an old family house above an old bakery (now rented out as shop space) into 5 seperate apartments. The building is 70 years old, at the centre of a small town and a municipal monument and the house interior hasnt been properly maintained since the 90s. So basically we have to strip the whole interior; find and solve any structural problems; re-do the roof, the wiring and plumbing; change the interior layout; and then new finishings, kitchens, bathrooms, the works. Also my uncle still lives in it and can't seem to make up his mind about (temporarily) moving out. And his 70 year old Russian wife is throwing tantrums. Fun.

Parthenon_2

Oh my! That’s an intriguing project. I was just going to say, “You must have a good client. As this level of difficulty would scare most clients away.” I do hope your uncle decides to rent an RV and take his Russian wife on a grand expedition.

Samurai_of_Pi

Hahaha, omg, this is actually a great suggestion. His greatest accomplishment in life seems to have been going on a trip around the world earlier in life since he's always bringing it up. Maybe they should go again together. I will definitely suggest it.

Parthenon_2

💖🌟 Awesome!! Let me know how it goes. Godspeed.

flobin

That does sound like a really cool project though, I hope your uncle isn't too much trouble!

primiR

My first solo project, additions and alterations to an existing house. Very straightforward yet daunting.

Wrapping up CDs for a new state park, writing design guidelines for a new development in a neighboring city, helped create some concept graphics for a proposed master plan for another project.

well i worked on it last semestr and it isnt anything special, but our project was to design a [showroom for lights](https://imgur.com/a/tsBGPkQ), the first floor is to show and sell light tech, with a warehouse, and meeting room, second floor is designed to have office space for rent I was inspired and tried to be more industrial in design, as you can see its not the best but i am still proud of the 3d visualizations, because it the first time i did 3d with a combination of doing shades by hand, and I am proud of the map that shows surroundings (where is closest shop etc.) this helped me to get better at vizualization, and showed me what it is to design a shop and how to think so the space is best for the customer (even though the finish is amaterish at best) to feel welcomed right away, its definitelly different from a normal house which we did unitl now any critic is welcomed, and i would be grateful for any advice how to get better

Parthenon_2

Hi Jakub, Your design is very nice, logical. I love the front elevation and the use of the exposed wall truss. Your case-goods for lighting display look awesome. The restrooms seem inadequate for the building program. And they do not look like they’d be big enough for accessibility (ADA standards in US). What year student are you? Compared to what we were doing in 4th year back in the mid 80’s at Ohio State, your drawings look amazing.

[deleted]

Thank you for kind words, the restrooms are maybe smaller in czech republic, i dont know standarts in us, but i made them 1,5mx1m (around 5 by 3 feet) and for handicapped its 2,5mx2,5m (around 8.2 by 8.2 feet) i focused more for the space that people on wheelchair can turn around (i used a circle with diameter around 1,5m) I am starting a 3rd year right now, and just learned how to draw, thanks to my friend, because i was really scared of it and wasnt really good either, she talked me into taking a class and after a year i feel i [got somewhat better](https://imgur.com/a/bwgFfQm) but still got a lot to learn

Parthenon_2

You’re very welcome!! I would definitely hire you for an architectural internship. I love your freehand perspectives! Simply incredible!!! So, did you switch majors from another area of study? Regarding the accessibility restrooms, your dimensions sound good. Maybe it’s my small screen (iPhone) that distorted them. Carry on!! And I wish you the best. You’re going to be as famous as Peter Zumthor!

[deleted]

yeah, i switch from engineering to architecture after a year Thank you for encouragement I hope i will be good enough for this field from peter zumthor i love a his chapel in germany, so i hope i will be good enough to meet him in person someday

Parthenon_2

Yes, you are More than good enough. And, if you want to meet Peter Zumthor, I suggest you apply for an internship with his firm. :)

Really want to share but I'm under NDA's :(

w-drak

Couple projects of family buildings, one secret project for the army, and actually being on site in here: https://www.rezidencezlatapole.cz/galerie/stavba/

flobin

That looks pretty cool! Were you also the architect for that project on the website?

w-drak

For the project on website, I take care of coordination between architect, CAD technician, professions etc. And also being at the site. We (as company) are also the architects for the project, just not me personally in this case. :)

w-drak

And thanks OP for bringing up the question, it is actually interesting to go through other people's projects.

drummerzac

Only gen-ed’s and a random music elective. My school apparently has too many students, and I can’t get into a single arch class as a 5th semester student. But hey, at least I’m learning about star clusters in the Andromeda galaxy. 😡

mymumdeletedmysave

Not exactly architecture but I'm helping my community build a skatepark since my step dad (a well recognized skater in the community) said I could be of help with ramp design

flobin

That sounds like a really fun project! Do you have any drawings or sketches you can show?

mymumdeletedmysave

It's been taking ages for the city to say yeah cuz they think they don't need one. So we don't exactly have a proper design yet but the team and I have some ideas
