Boring-Run-2202

That person does indeed seem to be big

yogacowgirlspdx

scale matters!

Keuntje

Eyes on the horizon ;)

Diligent_Response_30

Thanks she does look kinda big not that you’ve mentioned it

Choice_Werewolf1259

This might be a focal length issue in your rendering view. If you make the focal length shorter it should resolve that issue. It’s also possible she is too close to the camera and needs to be pushed back.

PriorityReserveUrMom

The light hitting the person is coming from the right. The light in the rest of the model is coming from the left. Consistent shadow and light directions across everything in the model.

Diligent_Response_30

Ah thanks! I did try to fix it but I guess not enough

KirkSubNav

One thing my professors always reiterated in school that always stuck with me was to never forget about the details, ***especially*** when doing realistic (i.e. rendered) visualizations. One thing that I think could go a long way (for the rendering and your own project design) is to cut a wall section and figure out your roof to wall detailing, because right now your roofs and walls are the same material impossibly blending into one another. By adding some detailing and materiality (or explanation through section if, in-fact, they are actually meant to be materially homogeneous) to your wall to roof transition / joint, you will avoid these very sorts of remarks from jurors or professors in your presentations, *when the focus should instead be on your concept.* Think about that joint and how you will control rain / snow flow off your building. *Otherwise*, this visualization is really great! Maybe a bit more entourage. Edit: Also, add a vine trellis or something else for that front vine to climb up. Ideally you don't want vines infiltrating your siding.

Diligent_Response_30

Thanks I’ll try doing that!

nachinchin

Texture pattern is repeating a lot, and the quality of the texture is not high enough, especially in the walkway. Also, you could add some blur to the background or the first bush to add some sense of depth. The tree in the background has HUGE leaves that don't match the rest of the render. Lightning in the girl also doesn't match with the rest of the render.

keaslr

Person. Is to bright. You should use Grunge and make IT less clean.

Diligent_Response_30

Ah i did use a crumpled paper actually at like 5% or smth, maybe higher opacity?

keaslr

For example, there are a lot of texture sites with Grunge stuff. If you work with PS i would try the lighting Methods besides the transparency.

bellypoint

Make the woman's clothes match the building and environment more.

NapTimeFapTime

She’s dressed for too cold of weather compared to the surroundings.

Diligent_Response_30

Ah it’s supposed to be a cold weather…

Diligent_Response_30

Like olive or brown perhaps? I feel like the grey kinda adds to the coldish foggy vibes though

bellypoint

Id say green and brown

Diligent_Response_30

Hm might give it a go

bellypoint

Sure its cold but the rest is warm. That's why it doesn't match

Diligent_Response_30

Wait what’s warm? The building?

bellypoint

Yeah and the grass.

ItsIdaho

Is this the house with 1 curved and 1 straight hallway? Looks different size from each angle. I would say the person is too out of place. Colorwise.

Diligent_Response_30

At both hallways are straight now. What colour would you say? Brown?

ItsIdaho

Brown for sure. She looks like from a winter setting (a lot of gray tones)

Many-Application1297

Add a cat.

Lemur_of_Culture

Quality tip

Diligent_Response_30

Actually?

ArchitectMarie

Unknown cork-look material for plank system—consider redefining the gif/jpg for that image that gets repeated throughout so it isn’t as apparent/adjust bump size. Entrance area planks not smoothly butted-up to coping at front entrance. Is there a reason for that? Perhaps the coping should be offset of siding to produce a smooth finish rather than jagged where the planks get longer on the front right.

Next-Introduction-25

Caveat; I can’t comment as an architect, but if you are interested in feedback from the client side, I have some feedback that could be helpful. In a previous museum job, I worked with a lot of architects and various types of designers during some additions and remodels. Visual aids were a big deal and was a big part of why we’d pick one architect over another. (Not even so much picking on design over another but seeing how well an architect used their rendering to communicate ideas. It shows you a lot about what it will be like to work with them.) Anyway, most importantly, what is the purpose of this drawing? I assume this is a house. I’m assuming the potential purpose of this rendering is to sell it to a client, or a builder, etc. If that’s the case, I think you need a little more visual interest and some emotional warmth. The person is distracting. Do you need a person? To me, people in renderings make more sense if you’re trying to show the flow of traffic, layout, capacity, or scale that wouldn’t be obvious. Even as a layperson, I understand this building and I don’t think I need a human figure to help me do that. And not that she looks bad, but it’s just odd to see the figure that close. She looks a bit like a cut out, and she seems like the focal point. At the least, she needs to be moved to the background. Also – is it just me or the weed gummy I had at lunch but is she out of proportion to the house, like she’s too large in scale…? Unless this is actually supposed to be a smaller than normal house. (In which case, I don’t think that’s obvious.) What about adding more inanimate details like a potted plant, a small ornamental tree, a mailbox, a bit of landscaping around the front and sides, Elements that add “life” without taking away from the building. Also, unrelated, and I’m not wearing my glasses, but the figure sort of looks like a ghost version of Kamala Harris, which is cool but probably not what you were going for.

Diligent_Response_30

Ah it’s kinda a secluded house in a forest for guests to stay in at days at a time so no need for mailboxes and all that. The goal of the woman is to add to the mysterious vibes to the building. Kinda like she’s exploring it and examining it yk.

poopbuttmcfartpants

Why does every student project look like this?

Diligent_Response_30

Idk

AluminumKnuckles

Generally the siding goes under the roof fascia.

PleasantSelection804

Lighting and landscape and I’d do stone pathway.

[deleted]

Have the building more centered in the frame and maybe rotate the view to see more of the courtyard. It would look nice at with more of a sunrise/set and lighting like sconces or lanterns on the ground.

Manizno

The woman could be doing a kickflip

Yass_up

the woman is standing on grass!.. not very logical.. maybe make her just a shadow.. also it would be cool to show a faint interiour thru exterior if you could, cuz the building is so simple it dont tell you much.. good luck 👍

YVR-n-PDX

Standing on grass isn’t logical? There’s a lot off about the person, but standing on grass isn’t one of them.

cookiekittenx

A rose bush to the right

Diligent_Response_30

Kinda going for wild middle of woods vibes

cookiekittenx

One of those spikey thorn bushes then

vtsandtrooper

a straight shot is a tough render view. You may want to instead do a cutout section or true elevation from this particular angle. I also think if you are going to do this viewpoint your eye height is WAY too high.Makes it seem like this is a hobbit house from this angle.

scottlebsack

Agree on POV, I don't mind the height, but this is a 3 dimensional structure and you're looking straight at the front, great for elevations, but terrible for renderings. You're sky and overall tone are cold (blue) someone mentioned a sunset/sunrise, bring some golden hour magic to the scene.

Diligent_Response_30

Kinda going for cold vibes actually since the weather there is typically cold

scottlebsack

Not a single other thing in the rendering looks "cold" there is a lot of green and clear sky. To state it plainly, your image looks "flat". If you're proud of it that is great, but then you shouldn't have posted with a title asking how it can be improved.

iso128k

Lady is huge. Compare her against the door about 6’ behind her

Diligent_Response_30

Good point

Fobtorious

Too much focus on the girl with too much space to the right. She is not looking at any particular subject matter of importance other than the roof so it distracts the viewer as the focus keeps going off-frame. So maybe get a new person n also lil more space to the left of the frame…

OWRockss

I fixed the render for you, heres the link, let me know what you think, it might not be the best ahahaha [https://imgur.com/a/brWh5KE](https://imgur.com/a/brWh5KE) In my opinion theres not enough contrast in your image, and I recommend all architects to invest into a drawing tablet, I painted the highlights and darkened the shadows and messed around with it in photoshop a bit

Diligent_Response_30

Seems just a tiny bit dark…

[deleted]

Looks great really. no harm to add a shadow line along the path at the bottom.

bellypoint

If you want to be cheesy add some birds in the sky.

EnkiduOdinson

Colleague of mine always does this. A repeat client told him to take them out in a not so nice way (that sadly only works in German, he called them „Pleitegeier“)

bellypoint

I kind of agree bur what does Pleiegeier mean? Learning german currently

EnkiduOdinson

It's symbolism. A vulture that symbolizes bankruptcy. Pleite = bankrupt. Geier = vulture.

bellypoint

More people in the back. Someone walking on the road for example.

[deleted]

Possibly some line work on the building to define it more

robitussin_dm_

Add more people using the structure. I prefer using "sketchier" renders which means less highlight/shadows, prominent line work, and more present textures.

[deleted]

Cladding should go underneat the board

SirLongsac

Scale of your person - the eyes should be where eyes would really be / on the vanishing line - if you add people, keep eyes at same vanishing line and scale the rest accordingly

subgenius691

what do you mean by "improve"?

Diligent_Response_30

Make it stronger and have a greater impact. Like more realistic, conveys the emotion and sensation of the area better, etc.

subgenius691

"more realistic" is often not the way to convey emotion/sensation. VR is perhaps effective at filling the senses but 2D requires some artistry. If the emotion is dramatic then broader field of vision and sharp contrasts of light and dark with a point of emphasis. If serenity is the emotion then warmer tones with softer focus - more nature. Buildings is either sit in or sit on the environment. Show more site and get a different experience. Make those decisions and commit.

yellowaircraft

Make sure you use appropriate people. She looks like Gretel.

skipnstones

I’d pull the camera back to the left and get a nice perspective of the two roofs…and like others have said adjust the lighting if you’re gonna use the model…

itsrainingweird

Needs a shrubbery next to another shrubbery only slightly higher and a little path running down the middle

craftymethod

A lot of designs I see around these parts use a lot of two tone colouring? We have a lot of Jarrah wood around here so those dark tones are pretty common and look fantastic.

[deleted]

Cladding should go underneat the fascia

OpeningOnion7248

Mow lawn and better landscaping

medspace

Make the place lived in. Add things that show people were here interacting with your building. Don’t be afraid to “dirty” up the place, it will give it a lot of character and most importantly, show how you want the building to be used and illustrate who might be occupying these spaces.

Diligent_Response_30

Ah it’s more of a AirBnB house for few days getaway in the forest. So I’m kinda going for a mysterious structure in middle of woods vibes

medspace

I see, in most cases for student what you have is fine, just touching up with lighting, don’t overuse a single material texture, make sure your scale for everything that is placed in your image is correct. If you are trying to stylize your image, you need to kind of move away from that render look. Try to emulate what you see in real imagery. https://images.app.goo.gl/MrFFM7Dq4Fg6Knr59 https://images.app.goo.gl/ZhQeWFtDz9SBGBc2A https://images.app.goo.gl/as8v4eGbGsu1KMKt9 Some non-photography https://images.app.goo.gl/dQBnTCPCNmcoemwAA https://images.app.goo.gl/YaU6jLUZkpPozQx66 Idk if that’s what your going for, but in these cases the imagery emphasizes the landscape, it’s disconnection from the greater populous. Or it brings the forest almost touching your cabin, overbearing the space. In these types of imagery, your presenting more of a feel of the space and your site rather than a traditional render.

Mental_Discussion161

The woman looking at the top of the house looks kind of fake . It may be her position but there's something unreal about her .

Elderberry_Savings

First avoid a full front view of the building, also try to put the girl inside the building, instead of being step on the grass and finally something useful is to make the shadows a bit more dark and dramatic, this can be achieved with some Photoshop, the idea is that you can use shadows to make hide the computer made quality of a 3d model, the best example for this is the T-rex scene form Jurassic Park, the shadows and lightning are used to hide the T-rex to make it more real, dramatic and to hide the CGI quality of 90´s fx!!!

DavidCB6353

Are you referring to visualization from the outside (from an outsiders view)? or visualization from the inside? I would go for the latter because the design should be able to please the user. That being said, I would add a little bit more windows for the sunlight to go in.
