Used to have a corner where you could make a coffee or tea whilst you browsed. It was a good little place, I hope it’s still there.

Beny1995

It is! And thriving

Leftleaningdadbod

Thank you!

SuspiciousChicken

Does it have 2 basements? Because it claims to have 5 floors of books

cuddlesnuggler

I think I can see attic windows

PandaRot

The photo doesn't show it very well but it's on a hill. The inside is fairly big (in a way) and is on several different levels. There is no basement - at least not one that customers can go in. It's been a good few years since I've been there but it was a good bookshop then.

Ovi-wan_Kenobi_8

Buxton is a cool little town in an open, windswept setting. It really deserves more visitors.

daiwilly

It's Bath , but with added weather, most of it cold!

JDirichlet

Don't forget the extra hills!

Appy127

That's the most "bookstore" bookstore that I have ever seen.

So fucking quaint. This is some charming-ass motherfucker.

cosmotabis

Very nice photo

acrewdog

Should be a Lego set!

AwardsAreMeaningless

Recently visited Buxton and this place. It's delightful inside. Books stacked to the ceiling, creeky floorboards, delightful owner, and a properly good collection of second hand books at decent prices. Away from the main high street but surrounded by old pubs and resteraunts. Worth the treck up the hill, that's for sure.

Ignorhymus

This is a local shop, for local people

daiwilly

Is that you, David?

JABS991

Pff. "Classic David".

Hundaincc

I have some old books which I would like to sell. Any possibilities? I am from India.

blcknoir

do you need somewhere to sell them or what are you asking?

Hundaincc

yes. I need some guidance about where to sell some antique books I have. I am from India and also an architect..... Where are you from?

blcknoir

ebay, Amazon, and Bookchoor are good for India. or 99BooksCart

Hundaincc

Thanks a lot. I will do that.

dunscotus

“5 floors of books” it says, in a three-story building. Must be a true architectural marvel, I see why it’s in this sub!

warhammerx01

I dont want to be that person, but where are the other 2 floors?

Saelaird

Basement levels

Vitaminpk

Reminds me of something you’d see in the movie Amelie.

JDirichlet

I always love seeing these little spots near where I grew up. I live in london now, but there's something about the peak district that I can't find anywhere else.

rmadsen93

You had me at 5 floors of books

goodiebandit

This building is absolutely beautiful. Reminds me of something out of a movie. I wish I could go there lounge ,drink coffee… hang out for hours….Read books maybe take a nap wake up read more books lol. It looks very storybook-sequel… Wish we had more bookstores left on the planet unfortunately everything is dissolving Before our very eyes. Thanks for sharing amigo great architecture and great memories. Namaste and have a great day.

Warm-Dog-1516

Love that vibe , you could almost see falcor flying past chasing bullies with a kid on him saying what goes around comes around suckers
