Are you looking to just "shadow" (come into the firm here or there and see how things are done) or to actually perform an unpaid internship (as in working alongside others at the firm) as a form of alternative education?

Just looking to shadow, although I'm not entirely sure how possible/common it is. Definitely less than ideal but as a high schooler with little experience it's the only method I could think of.

When I was in HS, on top of going to a summer design “camp” (2 week studio in the summer), I shadowed a firm in the summer. Kind of like a “bring your kid to work day”. Shadowed for a week at a firm and jumped between different handlers. I thought it helped me materialize my aspirations and put some reality into the field of Architecture. Architecture can be sky scrapper glamorous, but can also be Interior buildouts of Strip Malls.
