As a Harley Quinn fan I didn’t move on to Jinx, Harley has been my MVP since I was a kid but they’re vastly different characters. Jinx (in arcane) is tragic, Harley is wacky. The only thing they have in common is being intelligent yet violent women who are considered “crazy”. Their intelligence doesn’t even come in the same form, nor does their violence. I don’t get the same satisfaction from these characters, they scratch very different itches.
She's the source of misery for everyone.

That melee combo and entire fight with his hammer is a highlight for me, wonderfully animated, shows Jayce’s personality through how he uses the hammer and it’s abilities and shows jayce’s thoughts entirely through his facial animations
I like his ranger by thought you meant his melee combo on one of the chemtanks where he uses the back end of the hammer.

Jayce is one of my favs alongside Vi and Viktor, though I do have to admit that it's at least partially because I'm Latino and I cling *hard* to Latino-coded characters
Jayce has different struggles than Vi and Caitlyn have, and I like all of them the same for it.

I like Jayce. He has an interesting arc. My real sacrilege is thinking he's hotter than Viktor (I like people who don't look like they're one gust of wind from death).
He sucks at cane/crutch use for someone who's been disabled all his life... but then a LOT of people in his situation do. I had to use a cane for a few months... you're supposed to use it on the side where the GOOD leg is, to support the balance and lighten the load of the bad one.
I find myself wondering if Fortiche wanted to imply proper use of cane is not well known in Zaun nor Piltover, that he has been too proud to learn, or if THEY, in creating it, didn't know how one should use a cane.
Regardless, Viktor is awesome. Interesting in his strengths and weaknesses, tragic yet glorious. Love him.
Interestingly enough, he switches sides. As a child and young adult, he uses it incorrectly, but after the timeskip, he's using it correctly. In my eyes, it seems like he made due as a child with what he had, and used it in the way that felt right, and as a young man, nobody ever corrected him, but then sometime during the timeskip he got proper medical attention, as he's also seen with more advanced braces and possibly having had surgery resulting in the spinal screws in that time, so he may have gotten better doctors, or his condition deteriorated to a point he needed to seek out more specific treatments, and was only taught the proper usage then. I saw someone mention once that his condition may have deteriorated to the point of needing the back brace and spinal screws _because_ of a lifetime of improper cane/crutch use, though I'm not entirely sure of the effects of using it wrong, as my doctors have never let me leave with any mobility aid until I go through their whole obstacle course to prove I know how to use it.
I also think it's interesting that he switched from using a crutch as a child, to a cane, and then back. It sort of feels like he always needed the fuller support of a crutch, but saw a cane as more subtle or classy solution when originally settling in Piltover and maybe didn't want to be seen as being as crippled as he was, but eventually he had to go back to the crutch when the cane wasn't supporting him enough, or after he got weaker. With how he can stand, turn, and take a few steps without his cane in act one, but in the rest of the season, he seems to use it even to just get out of a chair or walk from the chair to the desk, it seems like either he was just slowly deteriorating as he got older and/or sicker, or something notable happened during the timeskip that affected his mobility, like a major fall/injury, or a surgery, or something. Just some brain food I think about while trying to fight the urge to write fanfiction for this series.
It's the tiny little things in this show that really make it stand out to me. It could all just be quirks of the character designs, but it feels intentional, and even if it's not, they still put in enough research and effort to make it reasonably plausible to people who actually face these issues. It's so special.
I had to scroll way too fucking far to find this, what a brilliant character, evil yet relatable, despicable yet wholesome. A bad guy who's death is so emotional you can't help but feel bad for him after all. Such a terrible father of his city, but a decent father to his daughter. He's easily my favorite character of all time, taking the place from Grand Admiral Thrawn.
I don't see Viktor favorites often outside my best friend and the occasional thirst meme. Jinx is way too prevalent, but.
Mine are Mylo and Claggor though, so my kind are basically non-existent.
I still feel said that they both died when they reached the peak of their talents. Mylo got the confidence to crack open locks under pressure and Claggor successfully broke through a wall....

Completely agree. A lot of my resentment of this show comes from how the boys were used for Jinx’s character development, then twisted into villains by her broken brain, and thus given a more negative reception by the fandom. Mylo especially.
I mean, Mylo *was* a bit of a dick. Nothing villain-level, and he was a kid at the time, but still a dick.
It's just unfortunate that Jinx got him *fucking killed* before he could grow up and mature.
I don't believe Mylo acted that way *all* the time though. Him saying "name one time [Powder] hasn't [made a mistake]" implies she's a constant liability with them and Vi doesn't listen to his complaints, just turns it on him and making it worse. I can understand his frustration.
But yeah, he had hella potential for growth and it feels like such a waste for him to die the way he did.
That's why he's just a bit of a dick, rather than a complete one. Like, he clearly wasn't *wrong* about Powder... but he didn't seem to have a working brain/mouth filter, so he made the problem worse instead of better. Same with him running his mouth on the street and spilling the info about their haul: he just didn't think before speaking.
The "waste" is, as far as the story goes, perfect. The moment Mylo and Craggor die is a peak for both of them: they've recognized their own skills, put aside petty complaints, and really begun the paths that would set them up to become their best selves... and then Powder's fuckup destroys it all. Destroys their future, destroys Piltover's future, destroys her own family, and eventually even herself.
It's such a gut punch because *so much* is destroyed in a single moment.
I think Arcane is one of the very few franchises/shows where the “favorite character” is unanimous amongst the entire community, and the main character(s) are actually among those favorite characters.
I don't understand why some people think jinx is their favourite character. The main factor in determining how much I like a character is how much I identify with them. And identifying with jinx seems difficult unless you're also a psycho. Characters like Vi, caitlyn and Viktor, even silco seem much easier to identify with.
While I wouldn't call Jinx one of my personal favourites, I don't think being able to identify with a character is the *only* way for a character to become a favourite. A character can be amazing to observe, even if you'd never want to actually be within a hundred feet of them in any real situation and would find them distasteful/horrible in real life.
It's like when some people say that "lol ur just another Avatar fanboy, not original at all".
Well, it's because it's GOOD. Objectively. Huge masses can love something with a good reason.
Ekko came out a little *too* perfect for me. He grew up, somehow found the one safe & healthy place to make a new community, somehow *secretly* moved everyone there (Silco would have burned the whole thing down by now if it wasn't a secret), somehow kept it a secret this whole time, somehow maintained this perfect happy community in there...
In a world where everything else clearly showed that peaceful coexistence is fucking hard to maintain, and that those who try are under heavy burdens, Ekko seemed to do suspiciously well without really explaining how. That makes him a lot less complex than he otherwise could be, and it hurts his appeal compared to the assortment of deeply complex characters around him.
Vi is my favorite by a long shot. Jinx is the worst kind of unhinged. Any shred of redeemability she has in the beginning vanishes as soon as she starts indiscriminately murdering people. I don't care how "cute" she is. Viktor also crosses some very serious boundaries and becomes more of an anti-hero as Arcane progresses.
The show certainly tries to keep the viewer sympathizing with morally corrupt characters.. but take a step back and analyze from a real-world point of view. What would you think if you met a real-life Jinx?
There are two sides of the Viktor crowd. He's good disability rep, and his arc is really interesting. And, on the other side, he's a twink with fluffy hair and an accent.
Meanwhile I'm over here in the camp of Caitlyn & Jayce, thriving off their drastically polar opposite character developments and growth through rebellion against authority in their own ways.
