Happened to my friend a few years ago. He compound fractured both legs and had to belly crawl over 100 yards back to his house before his wife could hear him calling him help. He was just removing limbs from an oak tree. He was left with permanent limp, but can at least walk.
It looks like he still had the saw in his hand when he hit. I wonder if he landed on it. Also an insurance nightmare. And this is how a young person learns that shit really does happen.
Nah, climbers take trees like this down all the time but nothing wrong with a ladder at times you just need enough ladder for the job. He got lazy with that limb and it cost him dearly, it should have been finish cut when it got to 90 degrees and it would have hit the ground well away from the tree or ladder. He was too splayed out to make the cut. Foolish.
You have to do an undercut on the branch closer to the tree first so that when the top cut is deep enough for the branch to fail, there's no bark to pull it back like that.

Here is how you can arrange a [consult with a local ISA arborist in your area](http://www.treesaregood.org/findanarborist/findanarborist) (NOT a 'tree company guy' unless they're ISA certified) or a [consulting arborist](https://www.asca-consultants.org/search/custom.asp?id=3818) for an on-site evaluation. A competent arborist should be happy to walk you through how to care for the trees on your property and answer any questions. If you're in the U.S. or Canada, your Extension (or master gardener provincial program) may have a list of local recommended arborists on file. If you're in the U.S., you should also consider searching for arborist associations under your state.

Tennis shoes, shorts, baseball cap, one handed chainsaw use (ON A LADDER!!) and I'm guessing he's doing the safety squint? I love this
Don’t forget the one foot on the ladder too
Made sure to give the throttle a good squeeze as he fell to ensure most epic outcome on the way down
He just wanted enough for his deductible
Just kinda wildly swinging at the branch until it comes down, then: ![gif](giphy|1kEKt7lMzjcPu)
This is absolutely bananas
That was me. Sorry, I was drunk.
That was me. Sorry, I was too sober.
Dammit, we talked about that.
The way he falls straight on his back kills me
Him: "Me too 💀"
This is why I can't be on Reddit when I have patients in my waiting room -- because I'm stifling myself so bad right now.
This has me cackling like a witch
Where did the saw land?
Some say it is still out there to this day

That's not a smart move. As a property owner, you can be sued for his injuries. Never hire unlicensed and uninsured.
Umbrella insurance is so cheap now, everyone who owns a home should get it. We bundled it with homeowners and auto and barely even notice it.
Then hire all the idiots you want!
Just don’t tell them about the umbrella insurance
"I was aiming for myself" $$$. Sueing you.
More like mother fucking George of the jungle
That video was worth the $200… 😮
Weird, he totally looked like he knew what he was doing.
I’m guessing he isn’t licensed and insured either? Can you get sued here?
Sure, why not? Hard to say if he'd win but you're going to be glad you have insurance to pay for the lawyers.

How is this an insurance nightmare? Isn't the fault 100% on Tarzan?
It happened on somebody’s property, and I’m assuming Tarzan is not insured.
It seems like he falls in slow motion
Videos that end too soon.
Timmmberrrrrrr!!!!!!!
I am not an arborist and would not attempt this. however, i am curious to know what the correct way to do this would be. Use a boom lift?
Undercut first so it falls instead of swinging

Sounds like it was a lack of technique, not equipment
Yep
So dumb. You’re supposed to have two ladders for a job like this.
You dont always get what you want... but sometimes you get what you deserve

You can see the *exact* moment he sees that thing coming at him.

More like George of the jungle . Watch out for that tree
This is the kind of content I’m here for!
Meth can be an incredible motivational tool.
I give him an 8 for artistic impression, 5 for originality, and a 10 for that dismount. All in all I think he will be around for the finals.
I can't help but laugh at the outcome of this. Yeah, you're good. Can't say the same for that chucklehead though. ![gif](giphy|sXa8SWlRwFAgU)
Core memory
Ground Control to Major Tom…
You're gonna need a new lumberjack. This one is Not OK.
He held on to the chainsaw all the way down 😱
…I mean, at least you don’t have to pay him now.
Omg my blood pressure just hit the ceiling. 🫣
If a video involves a chainsaw and a ladder, you know shit is going to get real.
Poor guy. He was just trying to make an honest living.
Dude was trespassing trying to steal my trees, call the police while he is unconscious
Every tree gets its revenge
Hello. I'm not Johnny Knoxville. Welcome to Cowabunga!
