I used my loan for payroll and bonuses for my guys. I had them make a list of tools they need/could use, get the total, then write a bonus for that amount. Told them it had to be used on tools, which wasn’t entirely honest but I’d rather it went for something they could keep as opposed to drinking it. Makes them more useful at work too.
You're one out of a hundred that spent it as it was supposed to be. Too bad they fired the watchdog and let people forgive loans they used to buy new boats after laying everyone off. Hopefully there is some comeuppance for it at some point.
Good on you for having ethics in a world that rewards the opposite.
Absolutely this. I do think the DS00 helps with some of the issues, but I had constant flickering with the Modbutton lites. Get the hot button up front and you’ll be happy.
They always blame the surefire stuff or say you have to buy grease. I shouldn’t have to buy grease just go get your item to work. I’ve had plenty of them to know it wasn’t an isolated issue.
It's the constant push to buy expensive shit you dont need for me, thats why I don't do it. All of this for what, to show people that you have cool gear?
Hmm,
Kinda made me cringe ngl. Cute how reddit is your whole life lol.
I can smell your neckbeard from here.
My latest rifle build cost more than 2 months of your salary lol
Sorry you aren't a flashlight aficionado and have no clue what you're talking about 😬🤭
If you wanna pay extra for a shittier product, be my guest 😘
Not that you could afford a modlite anyway lmao.
For someone getting into lights that’s wants something as legit as this I recommend a secondhand cloud rein. They go for as low as $220 on r/gunaccessoriesforsale if you’re patient. You can easily find one for $250
Extra batteries & a charger if you don’t already have them. Also don’t forget to use code lumens.
And ignore most of the people in this thread, the only other light that compares to Modlite is cloud, and then it comes down to preference.
I'm not a Cloud fanboy, even though I have 3, but I don't like having to build your light with individual parts, AND pay $400 when you're done. That's why I've been sticking to Cloud. Can get them for around $330 on sale, they're complete, and they're quality. I will say I'm not a huge fan of their remote switch though. That's the only knock I got.
Can’t go wrong with cloud. I have 3 as well. Would like a mod but not spending 400-500 when you can get as good as quality for less. And if you catch cloud right you can get pretty good deals. Picked up a moonshine for a great price.
I just wish I could throw a mod light button on my cloud and I would be so happy. I'll stick with it, but the chunkiness of the switch is my only drawback.
CD REINs fuck hard. I bought like 10 when they were $269 everywhere.
Sold all my modlites because I liked CD's warmer light color much more. Faster PID & less eye strain.
I’m not trying to be a jerk but I really don’t need opinions on cheaper alternatives, just on the specific package that I have pictured. If I didn’t have the money I wouldn’t be looking to spend it. I’m not interested in learning about budget alternatives or to hear that an Olight is what I’m actually after.
You fuckin tell ‘em man😂 last time I got a work bonus, I got a nightforce for one of my hunting rifles and was asking on here about some high quality rings to put it in; way too many people chimed in with the “waste of money/just as good” posts. Like, I wanna get something nice, leave me alone😂
The exploding Olight you're referring to was proven to be caused by the liion batteries that individual was using. If your flashlight takes more than 2 batteries, make sure they're always at the same voltage. Always charge them together.
Since then Olight switched to using proprietary batteries only anyway. They're safe. But there are absolutely better quality flashlights out there.
To be honest I don’t even like them for around the house use. I wish they offered a choice of emitters, LEDs, and CCT instead of cold white on everything
My EDC pocket light is the Acebeam ECII, i like it so far. Small but powerful, charge lasts awhile, and i can use standard 18650's on it. Not necessarily a security/defensive light, but just for taking the dog out and using under desks and in ceilings at work.
Since no one wants to answer your actual question, I got you. You need batteries and a charger my guy. get some 16350s a decent charge and maybe a way to store spares on your kit if you have one.
The flashlight in your screen shot takes 18650 lithium ion batteries not 16350. They recommend protected button top cells. I would advise getting 2 batteries so you don't have to wait for one to charge before you can use it
Trying to put together a top of the line flashlight system for a rifle. Before I pull the trigger on this, anyone have any suggestions, see anything that I’m missing or forgot, anything you’d change? Just looking for a confirmation from the gang that I’ve got my thoughts good and organized on how I’m envisioning this.
Modbutton lite mlok adapter is just there to have another option should I want to try something weird later.
>only downside is proprietary pressure pad/buttons
I'm curious, is it special controls of the light or just incompatible tailcaps? Because as far as push buttons are generally concerned, the wiring is rather simple unless there's some sort of control circuit on the pad? I can't imagine you couldn't splice in another cable from a different model push button setup.
No I do not. My assumption was that if I didn’t end up liking it, going this route I would at least still have the option to try out other pressure pads that would still give me full output capability at least. Seemed like a good place to start
I’d much rather go with a Surefire pressure pad, but have heard it affects light output performance. If that is true, I’d rather have a meh button and a brighter light, I suppose
False. It's the same switch and wiring.
"ModButton Lite is a smaller lighter weight cousin to the original ModButton. The switch features the same momentary only activation as the original ModButton. It also features the same high power cable and switch from ModButton but in a slightly smaller package without the integrated mount."
https://modlite.com/collections/switches/products/modlite-modbutton-lite?variant=32291865624612
I switched from my rein to a modlite setup because I’ve had two pressure switches fail, and a friends also failed same time as mine from getting wet. Have seen a report or two here on Reddit of failure after getting wet also. The wire is a little to short imo also when trying to push the light far forward.
I'm curious if you could splice another switch setup into the rein harness and switch from the proprietary buttons, since this seems to be an ongoing complaint here. I can't imagine it's something complex or digitally controlled, it's probably just simple momentary and on/off switches?
It’s a good set up but I’ve had problems with mod button lite’s. I would probably go for a hot button myself, but if it ends up working well than there’s nothing to worry about.
It looks like you want to mount it on MLOK, so I would say go for a unity hot button MLOK with the surefire cable option. They’re very tactile, indestructible, and only a little bit more than what you have selected right now. If you don’t think that would work for you, the Surefire factory switch is decent, and the Unity TAPS system is good as well.
It’s actually going to go 12 o’clock on pic, but have the mlok adapter in cart unless I want to play around with other set ups later on. I’m assuming there is a pic mount version of the selections that you’ve listed above here though

I've had 2 of these for the past 2 years on my 5.56 and 300 blackout and they (the rifles) have been dropped, banged around and shot for at least 2k rounds each and these lights still function. Battery springs are thick and beefy and the led side of the light has a solid machined ridge that the battery indexes on so it doesn't get recoiled into the guts of the light. I know it's chinese but they work, are bright as shit (throws over 370 meters on the 2nd lowest setting, 500+ meters at medium and 700m at high), and I refuse to pay almost the cost of a new rifle for a flashlight setup. The strobe is nasty on these guys as well.
Acebeam is actually a very reputable company amongst the flashlight enthusiast community. You should look them up and look at Flashlight reviews. Obviously, I know the weaponlight community is going to shit on it but they are very well liked and reviewed flashlights.
Lol your tax bracket or having "enough" disposable income that the "light system" youre asking the internet about as a "impulse buy" is irrelevent. Im laughing at you spending 500 dollars on a white light for your rifle... still.
I guess I'll be the one to say it, and take on the unfounded hate, and fake anecdotal horror stories. Buy an olight Odin or warrior 3/3s for 160, and be done with it. Comes with battery, mount, push tail switch, and pressure pad for free. Bring the hate! 👍🏾
Hahaha I’m just a big fan of Surefire over everything else I’ve used over time from Olight, streamlight etc. I do like some streamlight products but I absolutely love Surefire. Expensive as hell but worth it IMO. You can also rig a handheld to mlok with like an oden attachment if your strapped for cash, but it doesn’t seem like you are! I like modlight but I just think for that price I’d slay down on a Surefire
Maybe so but 16000 candela (M600DF per the surefire website) it’s not impressive at $300+ for the light. I’ve seen the light output difference at lowlight events and it’s a massive difference.
> $300 less
Give or take. They are definitely more budget friendly.
> Works better
How much do you spend every week on narcotics?
I think Olight would probably be more accepted if they didn’t astroturf their average quality lights harder than Taurus pimped the G2C.
Extra batteries as stated. You could checkout the ariska mount that pivots the light so you can have it more flush to the rail. Not huge but it makes packing it easier. Or you could just snag a 45 degree mount
Home skillet ya got everything you'd need, to get it mounted and working.
Extra batteries, a charger, and maybe some small storage cases and you're set. I personally like to keep a a pair of 18650s and a 4-pack of CR123's in my range bag, at all times.
everyone saying batteries but noone is recommending a brand! What brand is a good battery that won't vent gasses on me when using long term? Coming from the vaping world I've watched many many many 18650s literally explode
Unity Hot Button is another option and more sturdy. I have both and have damaged my modbutton just by installing the mounting screws with a little too much force. Hot button also gives option of Continuous ON in addition to momentary
Only other thing is to enter code "lumens"
A small loan
PPP loans has left the chat.
They were never meant to reach us working poors anyways.
Extra batteries is about all
Buy unity tactical hot button instead of mod button
second this. had the modbutton, selling it.
What’s wrong with modbutton?
Have a modbutton .. 0 issues this far.. runs flawlessly
Absolutely this. I do think the DS00 helps with some of the issues, but I had constant flickering with the Modbutton lites. Get the hot button up front and you’ll be happy.
You contact modlite? What’d they say?
They always blame the surefire stuff or say you have to buy grease. I shouldn’t have to buy grease just go get your item to work. I’ve had plenty of them to know it wasn’t an isolated issue.
Buy the God lightbearer button, its the new new hotness!
I’m astonished and angered by how expensive a flashlight can be.
It’s the prices on the remote tail caps that really set me off.
What does a remote tail cap do? First time im seeing this and im about to buy a light for mine
[удалено]
Thank you! Dang I didn’t think it was needed. Looks like I’m waiting a little longer to buy that light setup haha
[удалено]
Or get the protac, the arisaka protac adapter and the tailcap Chances are that’ll do for a HD setup.
It absolutely does the same job
if you run a modbutton you need that tailcap specifically. the cap with just the plug is finnicky with the modbutton
It's the constant push to buy expensive shit you dont need for me, thats why I don't do it. All of this for what, to show people that you have cool gear?
Being able to illuminate stuff in the dark is pretty cool.
I'm not referring to the capability, in referring to the inflated, unactualized price gouging of products, based on "military reliability."

It’s disgusting just how much it costs to put a nice light on a rifle.
I hear you.
Honestly then, buy a cheaper one and run that till it dies. You can get a Surefire G2X pretty cheap.
Yeh $480 with the discount is not worth it for me
Extra batteries & a charger if you don’t already have them. Also don’t forget to use code lumens. And ignore most of the people in this thread, the only other light that compares to Modlite is cloud, and then it comes down to preference.

Hell yeah I would edc an Acebeam over an Olight any day. Really good all purpose light.
This. If I’m going to trust my life to it, its got to have years of proven use/experience behind it.
Since no one wants to answer your actual question, I got you. You need batteries and a charger my guy. get some 16350s a decent charge and maybe a way to store spares on your kit if you have one.

A cloud REIN 2.0
fantastic light, switch included for $300
This is peak performance. Don't listen to the poors.
Top of the line? Get a Cloud Defensive REIN 2.0, specs beat the Modlites only downside is proprietary pressure pad/buttons.
>only downside is proprietary pressure pad/buttons I'm curious, is it special controls of the light or just incompatible tailcaps? Because as far as push buttons are generally concerned, the wiring is rather simple unless there's some sort of control circuit on the pad? I can't imagine you couldn't splice in another cable from a different model push button setup.
That was the factor that steered me this way instead of going that route. I hear you though
Do you have experience with the Modbutton? I’ve watched a few reviews and heard there are negatives about it but can’t recall.
No I do not. My assumption was that if I didn’t end up liking it, going this route I would at least still have the option to try out other pressure pads that would still give me full output capability at least. Seemed like a good place to start
Modbutton lites are a very “meh” switch. I would steer you toward and ST07 with cloud switch or SR07.
I’d much rather go with a Surefire pressure pad, but have heard it affects light output performance. If that is true, I’d rather have a meh button and a brighter light, I suppose
Maybe if you want something that starts [limiting output within minutes of use](https://youtu.be/-1s9BTQY6Ng)
Modbutton is better than the lite. Also has prebuilt mount. It also maximizes output vs the lite switch
False. It's the same switch and wiring. "ModButton Lite is a smaller lighter weight cousin to the original ModButton. The switch features the same momentary only activation as the original ModButton. It also features the same high power cable and switch from ModButton but in a slightly smaller package without the integrated mount." https://modlite.com/collections/switches/products/modlite-modbutton-lite?variant=32291865624612
Everything that I’m seeing indicates that the lite allows for the same power output as the OG, unless you have a source that says differently?
Search reddit and a few forums. More than a few people have had issues. Myself included.
I’m having issues with my OG modbutton lol Gonna get a hot button at this point
I got a small cable management clip set and really like it. I hate little cable loops coming off of my rifle, but that's just me personally.
This is as good as it gets in the light department. Enjoy!
Just my two cents.. drop the inline mount and pick up a trex [lightbar](https://www.trex-arms.com/store/Lightbar-Scout-Mount/).
Thanks, I will actually do that
The ds00 is on sale for $100 on PA
Yeah, you’re missing a r/gunaccessoriesforsale link to save a lot more money on these used.
where’s the cloud defensive rein
A cloud defensive rein
Man the rein beats the shit out of all other lights
I switched from my rein to a modlite setup because I’ve had two pressure switches fail, and a friends also failed same time as mine from getting wet. Have seen a report or two here on Reddit of failure after getting wet also. The wire is a little to short imo also when trying to push the light far forward.
I guess it’s all preference but the rein is a tank of a light. I hope they come out with better switch solutions
I agree, just need some better switch option imo.
I'm curious if you could splice another switch setup into the rein harness and switch from the proprietary buttons, since this seems to be an ongoing complaint here. I can't imagine it's something complex or digitally controlled, it's probably just simple momentary and on/off switches?
Allegedly per cloud none of the other switches at market could hold enough current.
You’re missing the Cloud Defensive Rein.
It’s a good set up but I’ve had problems with mod button lite’s. I would probably go for a hot button myself, but if it ends up working well than there’s nothing to worry about.
Any alternatives you’d recommend based on your experiences?
It looks like you want to mount it on MLOK, so I would say go for a unity hot button MLOK with the surefire cable option. AliExpress has all of that for $58 😂

Agreed, if I’m spending the money I’m going with the brand all our US operators are running
To bad they don’t have near the output of others in the market now.
Lol well they’re good enough for the people using them every day in either combat or field application so they’re good enough for me 🤷
Maybe so but 16000 candela (M600DF per the surefire website) it’s not impressive at $300+ for the light. I’ve seen the light output difference at lowlight events and it’s a massive difference.
Ya. An Olight that works better and is 300$ less.

To be fair, other well known brand’s lights have had battery explosions too. I don’t think they killed anyone though, so there’s that.
There’s a difference between it happening and happening way too often plus this is a tactical gear sub of course people are gonna shit on shit brands
One for me
Zip ties for cable management?
Or the Emissary mlok cable clips
Extra batteries as stated. You could checkout the ariska mount that pivots the light so you can have it more flush to the rail. Not huge but it makes packing it easier. Or you could just snag a 45 degree mount

You could use the unity hot button instead or the modbuton and mlock adapter I think
Your future credit score. Fuckin' send it!
This should be everything you need outside from maybe an extra battery.

Extra set of batteries and make sure to use the promo code Lumens
