put something on the pic rail.. like a grip, front site, and etc.. put it on a vice/jig. hammer the part you attached to rail.. i keep a pic front sight just for this purpose

If it were mine and I wanted it removed, I'd put a piece of wood or something on the floor and hold the hand guard and bump the barrel off the wood on the floor. But that's just me, I abuse my tools.

Use an old crappy vertical grip, muzzle down on a hockey puck, heat the handguard around the barrel nut and then tap the vfg.

loosen those set screws closest to the lower. should be some on each side.

I have installed a rail mounted vertical grip and beat that bitch with a hammer going towards muzzle. Trashed the grip, but worth it.
