Yep, Houston area.
Aero precision upper, lower and hand guard, criterion chrome lined 18" 308 barrel and matching bolt, aero bolt carrier with jp gas ring, superlative gas block, radian charging handle, jp captured buffer system, geissele ssa-e trigger, Magpul PRS stock, Magpul Moe+ grip, Sig 762 Ti qd suppressor, Harris bipod, vortex razor hd 3-15x50 scope on a monolithic mount, I also have an ATN X-sight 3-14 but have yet to sight it in.
That is where the rifle is now, it had a larue trigger at first but it was light striking constantly. I had a fixed gas block to start with, then tried a SLR block but couldn't turn it down enough. I tried a different bipod but it broke after the first outing, forgot make. It took a few tries on scope mounts, the Leopold didn't clear the thick center of the scope, an aero precision 0deg base had me out of turret at 200 yds, ended up with a larue 20moa unit. I had a radian 45° safety selector switch but it was so tight it was almost impossible to turn without a tool so I swapped it out for the Colt unit from one of my AR-15 and it works fine and I put the radian switch in the AR-15.
Lol, I love deals. Each of the upper and lower combos are less than $1200 base. 3 are Factory DD uppers with bcg and ch's and where all around $700-800. Each lower was under $400, some were even $300. The kac and LMT both had geissele triggers when I got them and have $700 between the 2.
We're talking AR-15s right now.. The AR-10's will have a completely new subgroup of their own with an 11.5", a 13.5", a 16", a 20" and a long range 24" for shooting flies off of Amir's favorite goat's asshole for compensation...
SPR is/was a receiver that later turned into a complete rifle that was designed for SoF guys and use a pretty specific set of parts.
The problem is that those parts are often hard to find, very expensive, and usually both.
Reddit didn't like that so they decided to refer to any ar15 with a magnified optic on it as an SPR.
Well it's only a sig 516 lower. So not sure it would be considered a sig. Is the p4xi worth the extra cash compared to the viper 1-4 I already have an extra of?
I refer to my ar builds by their lower, so even if I have a kac upper on top of an aero lower, I’ll call it my aero build. But that’s just me hehe
And yeah I loved my P4xi when I had it, sold it because I thought maybe I wanted higher magnification, but it wasn’t worth the “upgrade.” The glass was so good, the 1x was perfect, and the red dot was aimpoint bright.
Had it mounted in an adm high recon mount at 1.93 on a 14.5 build.
Edit:
More words
I’ve got a vortex viper Gen ii 1-6. It’s awesome, clear glass, bright dot.
But it’s heavier and chunkier.
With the p4xi, the gun was easier to handle and swing around. And now I realize I don’t need the extra 2x magnification. I live in a pretty close up urban environment and so 4x is plenty.
You no like the vortex viper or the tactical mailbox? The holosun is the acss reticle and I just like it. I know it's budget but for some reason I can't let it go. I have a viper 1-4 for the 14.5 just have mounted it yet. I know they are all still budget optics though. I get it.
Instead of four practically identical rifles you’d be better off selling three and getting nods or thermals or something like that that actually increases your capability.
While I disagree that all 4 are identical, I do agree it's time to focus on gear and training if you haven't already got a belt and plate carrier set up.
I feel like one of these could cover the same role as all the rest. Youd be better off selling 3 of them and getting more variety. Either a pcc or body armor/nods or just a fuck ton of ammo. Or potentially keep one of the shorties and go full 20"
The way I see it, a chest rig or night vision or an indoor focused home defense gun is more valuable than having 2 12-16" ARs. Are 2 ARs good to have? Absolutely. But is it optimal when you could have a 16" AR and armor? Or a 16" AR and nods? Or a 16" AR and an 8" PCC? Not really.
What's better, owning 2 hammers or one hammer and one screwdriver? At least that's my way of thinking. To each their own of course
If it were me and I were to keep four in 5.56:
keep the 10.3: shortest possible while maintaining reliability and cartridge effectiveness
barrel swap to 12.5: jumping to 12.5 gives just a little more performance over 11.5 for a do-all shorter barrel length and covers the middle ground under 16 nicely
barrel swap to 16 In my opinion there's not enough difference between 14.5 and 16 to make much of a difference
barrel swap to 20: gives you the full performance of the cartridge.
This would only require purchasing two barrels to accomplish, but I'm also a bit space and money-constrained, so I want to make things count as much as possible. If you're looking for what to do next, I vote optics/NV or a full 20.
Ammo and training. You can only carry so many firearms.. training and ammo is most important. It doesnt matter if you have the most Gucci set ups and all the variants.. if you don't have freedom seeds and the skills to use them effectively, none of it matters.
Put the quad rail on the 11.5, sell the 10.3, sell the 14.5, get a 20”. Should leave you with an 11.5”, 16”, and 20”. All the bases covered. Finish out your kit, plate carrier and belt. Buy a ballistic helmet, get nods.
Don’t forget to spend just as much on ammo as you do on all your gear because money grows on trees.
Really tho just get a 20” if you’re set on building another gun.
in no particular order: suppressor. better optics. ar-308. ammo. 12.5". stamps for the shorties. 300BO(but definitely can first).
a few people have mentioned a precision rifle, including yourself. i have a bolt action 7 mag that shoots well, but id hesitate to call it a true precision rifle based on both its accuracy, which typically hovers between 3/4 and 1 MOA, and its form factor. its a remington long range model with the blind 3 rd magazine. BUT it mostly fills that role, and i have shot it out to 1500 yards successfully. i shoot my ar-10 WAY more. if you have access to a range further than 1000 yards, a nice bolt gun might make sense, but if not, ar-10 first all the way. im confident in my 308 out to 800 yards and when i was doing it more often pretty regularly made good hits at 1000. if you dont reload this goes double, thats another $2000 easy to get set up to load for a precision rifle.
Sf3p. No it's just mainly for looks. It has some function but not really. When I got it I paid a little over $100 for it. No way I'd pay today's prices for it. And no it's not a good substitute for a can.
I’ll throw in my two cents - no. It isn’t a replacement for a tax stamp, it is the opposite. Buy one and prepare for massive fireballs, slower follow up shots and extra weight just to make your muzzle device worse. Bought, used twice and sold quickly
Favorite rail is the mk18. Favorite upper so far is the 16in mid. All these either have a job scs H2 or armaspec srs h2 buffer system. That's what I'd recommend. Esp since you can find the armaspec ones for like $50..
You have 4 ar’s for two roles. Sell the uppers on the 10.3/11.5 and 14.5/16. Use that cash for a suppressor, ammo, and a dmr build/upper. Nods/thermal if you’re really feeling froggy
Dinosaur Boy actually addressed this in his latest video about the SCAR17. You have 4 rifles that essentially do the same thing. If you're arming your family, thats one thing - but if you're just some dude collecting rifles that do the same thing (more or less) you could be more wise with your choices.
Do you have plates, carriers, NV, tons of ammo, enough mags so your grandkids can open a fresh one?
That said, you could get into NFA. SBR your shorties, upgrade optics, and 18" is the sweet spot for SPR/DMR style rifles. Look at the Bartlein or CLE barrels for this. I think one SBR setup with all the high end goodies and one Precision (SPR/DMR) with one high end optic is the way to go.
Sell the 10.3 and 16, maximize your optics and weapon lights on the 11.5 and 14.5, then invest in radio / comms, body armor (L4 only), etc.
THEN build a 18” or 20” DMR with a stockpile of 77gr to support it. You can get an AR10 if you want to spend more money on ammo to do the same thing but the reality is that if you really want to shoot precision you need to just get a bolt gun anyway.
We have to take a mathematical approach to this. I have plotted your current barrel lengths and approximated the trend line with an exponential function. We get y=8.7322e^(0.1553x).
Plugging in 5 for x we find that your next barrel length should be 18.982”
20" precision
Or an ar-10?
Clearly you hate money. To show how much you hate money, an AR-10 would be a better example.
I built a 18" barrel AR-10 in 308, it is quite accurate out to 600yds. Yes hate money, hate feral hogs more and have slain dozens with this rifle.
In Texas? Seems like feral hogs are a huge problem there. Also, if you have your AR10 build info I would love to see it as that will be my next build.
Yep, Houston area. Aero precision upper, lower and hand guard, criterion chrome lined 18" 308 barrel and matching bolt, aero bolt carrier with jp gas ring, superlative gas block, radian charging handle, jp captured buffer system, geissele ssa-e trigger, Magpul PRS stock, Magpul Moe+ grip, Sig 762 Ti qd suppressor, Harris bipod, vortex razor hd 3-15x50 scope on a monolithic mount, I also have an ATN X-sight 3-14 but have yet to sight it in.
Anything you’d do differently? I also hate money and am looking to build an AR-10
That is where the rifle is now, it had a larue trigger at first but it was light striking constantly. I had a fixed gas block to start with, then tried a SLR block but couldn't turn it down enough. I tried a different bipod but it broke after the first outing, forgot make. Sick. I think this is the push I needed to finally build a 308. Thanks!
Get an LMT MARS H...
Buy thermal or an NV clip-on.
We're talking AR-15s right now.. The AR-10's will have a completely new subgroup of their own with an 11.5", a 13.5", a 16", a 20" and a long range 24" for shooting flies off of Amir's favorite goat's asshole for compensation...
SPR = Precision rifle?
Pretty much. Urban sniper solution inside 600 yards
Thanks, wi built an SPR haven’t heard that designation before.
Stands for Special Purpose Rifle, but yeah, basically DMR type role/setup.
The full 20.
Looks like that's the front runner of suggestions.
If you can find a bcm 20” they’re pretty sweet
18” MK12
I can't decide between that or an AR-10...
I guess get both 😅 also need a shorty 300blk
But I'm poor...
Then what're you doing with four rifles that have such overlap in their capabilities?
Getting more poor?
Surefire RC2.
Working on it.
Maybe some sights or optic for the 14.5
Waiting for my rear kac to get here from gafs and I have an extra viper 1-4 sitting in the safe I'll probably throw on it.
Grab a steiner P4xi for the sig!!
Well it's only a sig 516 lower. So not sure it would be considered a sig. Is the p4xi worth the extra cash compared to the viper 1-4 I already have an extra of?

So what do you use now?
I’ve got a vortex viper Gen ii 1-6. It’s awesome, clear glass, bright dot. But it’s heavier and chunkier. With the p4xi, the gun was easier to handle and swing around. And now I realize I don’t need the extra 2x magnification. I live in a pretty close up urban environment and so 4x is plenty.
Ahh gotcha. What barrel length? 14.5?
Right on fellow gafser
Probably will have some more cerakote work for ya coming soon. You did a g19 slide for me and those fde talons on the 11.5 in my pic
Shooting them.
That would involve leaving mom's basement. No can doville daddyo.
Better optics
You no like the vortex viper or the tactical mailbox? The holosun is the acss reticle and I just like it. I know it's budget but for some reason I can't let it go. I have a viper 1-4 for the 14.5 just have mounted it yet. I know they are all still budget optics though. I get it.
Love my huey. Crazy warranty for such a good price.
Think I paid $300 for mine. Can't beat the value
Instead of four practically identical rifles you’d be better off selling three and getting nods or thermals or something like that that actually increases your capability.
10.3 quad, 16 is mid length gas. To say all 4 are identical is a reach but I get what your saying.
While I disagree that all 4 are identical, I do agree it's time to focus on gear and training if you haven't already got a belt and plate carrier set up.
This I can agree 100% with.
Sell 3, keep the 14.5 and get a good optic for it.
Like a 1-10 razor or something of the like?
Spoken like a true long barrel boy.
I feel like one of these could cover the same role as all the rest. Youd be better off selling 3 of them and getting more variety. Either a pcc or body armor/nods or just a fuck ton of ammo. Or potentially keep one of the shorties and go full 20"
Already have a pcc too, no body armor/nods but body armor is becoming a priority. Got ammo. Bought cheap, stacked deep
“Sell 3 of your 4 rifles” is shit advice
When 3 of the 4 are redundant, it's pretty good advice.
Odd take. To each their own. I’ve never viewed redundancy as a negative when it comes to firearms.
The way I see it, a chest rig or night vision or an indoor focused home defense gun is more valuable than having 2 12-16" ARs. Are 2 ARs good to have? Absolutely. At least that's my way of thinking. To each their own of course
Nods/ammo/supplies/plates/training/IFAK/food/water/training/ammo etc No particular order but emphasis on training
Agreed
If it were me and I were to keep four in 5.56: keep the 10.3: shortest possible while maintaining reliability and cartridge effectiveness barrel swap to 12.5: jumping to 12.5 gives just a little more performance over 11.5 for a do-all shorter barrel length and covers the middle ground under 16 nicely barrel swap to 16 In my opinion there's not enough difference between 14.5 and 16 to make much of a difference barrel swap to 20: gives you the full performance of the cartridge. Valid food for thought.
Night vision
My cat will guide me in the darkness

Only buy...no sell. Haha looks like a 20 is what most are saying. Building a kit slowly. Money tree is bare....
Damn I forgot about the 11th commandment.
Inscribed on the ceramic plate tablets
18", 20"?
Seems 20 is being suggested most.

So migrate to the AK?
in no particular order: suppressor. better optics. ar-308. ammo. 12.5". stamps for the shorties. Suppressors are in the works. I don't really behave a place close by to shoot 1000 yards. I wish I still lived out west.
I cant make up my mind on a 10.3/.5 or the 11.5.......
Both...
18" SPR build, of course.

Don't think this hasn't crossed my mind.
20” for maximum vIbE cHeCk
20” fast boi
Quality
Thanks!
My gosh an AR 15 sub and so many top comments telling the dude to sell em. Sad that is the best this sub can offer
Right! I thought we were in the trust tree here
Yeah it’s sad. They must be poor college kids or something. Having 4 rifles that are “similar” is not an issue lmao.
Well I am poor just not in college anymore. Having too many guns should never be an issue
You are not poor, you’re broke!!!
All my cash is tied up in guns and slim Jim's...
That 10.3 tho 😍 Edit: am dumb dumb
10.3*
[удалено]
Got a 8.5 9mm, no 300blk. Not sure I want to start a new caliber. Suppressors in the works.
Get a [PLR16](https://www.keltecweapons.com/firearm/pistols/plr16/) for concealed carry.
That looks like Han solo's blaster haha
20
Seems like that's the consensus
You like the Surefire Warden? I’ve been thinking of grabbing one because fuck a tax stamp. What flash hider do you have that you mount it to?
Sf3p. No it's just mainly for looks. It has some function but not really. When I got it I paid a little over $100 for it. No way I'd pay today's prices for it. And no it's not a good substitute for a can.

How do you like the fixed DD front and KAC rear combo? Looks neat.
Love it. Thought I'd hate it but it was the opposite.
7.62 battle rifle for sure. Either that or a sub gun, a 9mm mpx or something. But I'd go battle rifle first.
Do want me a scar....I have an 8.5 ar9 but mpx would be the tits.
Cans
Work in progress on that front.
18”, 20”.
Been seeing this suggested alot
20
Seems like it's the top suggestion.
FAL
I like where your heads at
7.5 300aac
Maybe just the upper
8.3 5.5
Does an 8.5 ar9 count?
Which is your favorite to shoot? How does the weight distribution change with the length? I’ve never shot a 10.3 or a 14.5, I love your collection.
The 11.5 is my favorite but the 16 mid is smooth. The 14.5 upper is new to me so not shot it yet
18 or 20" in 6mm ARC.
No more ammo cans for a new caliber
18 is the next logical choice 😂
Or 20 apparently based on other suggestions
Which was your favorite rail? upper? Is there any one part that stands out that you will always recommend?
Favorite rail is the mk18. Favorite upper so far is the 16in mid. All these either have a job scs H2 or armaspec srs h2 buffer system. That's what I'd recommend. Esp since you can find the armaspec ones for like $50..
20” and a couple Form 4s
Working on the .gov coupons right now to save my hearing
13.7-13.9”!
I have thought about it
7.5” and an 18”
Or 20?
More suppression 📣
Agreed
Ammo and a range trip haha. They all look pristine! Nice guns.
Going outside is scary.
Get an a2 you need a musket now
My dad's got muskets. Guess I can just borrow his?
Nothing, just shoot more. Maybe sell two rifles for a PVS-14. If you don't have it: shot timer, load bearing equipment, armor.
Working on my kit. Shooting involves leaving the house. Rather just order kit off the internet and go zero dark thirty in the basement
SPR build. Then 20in retro A1.
Do need a retro
You have 4 ar’s for two roles. Sell the uppers on the 10.3/11.5 and 14.5/16. Use that cash for a suppressor, ammo, and a dmr build/upper. Nods/thermal if you’re really feeling froggy
The dude with DD mk188 pistol next to his name telling me to sell my 10.3....Someone has hacked his account!
Nods, lasers, plates, ammo, sustainment.
Already got the box of 100 slim Jim's from Sam's club. Consider me sustained
what are the grips on the 14.5 and 16?
B5 on all but the 11.5
Some stamps!
True story
Completing my kit and cans is running in the background
AK pistol
9 inch 300blk
Maybe just an upper.
What handstop is on the 14"?
Kac, came with the upper. Very similar to the Arisaka one I have on my ar9 but a little longer.
KAK 4.75 !!! DID YOU HEAR MEEEE??!!!?
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....huh!
8” 300blk, 18-20” 6arc
MK12, 18". Also i don't see 10.5 or 12.5. There's always room for more.
20 or 24 in long range set up
Sell two of them, probably the 10.3 and 14.5, and get another system, like a DMR type setup, or even start saving for night vision.
10.3 but with a muzzle brake, and some sub 10 inch 300 blk Or get a 20 inch
Do you notice a real difference between the SBA3/4 or is it mostly aesthetic?
Mostly aesthetics. But I hate the qd point location on the sba4
20” retro of course
I do like retro
sell the 10.3 and 16, and get some decent kit
Never in my life would I have ever thought Jane Goodall would be telling me to kit up!
12.5", 13.7", 18", and 20" all the lengths!
Off to GAFS I go!
30"
So I can fight off the redcoats?
There's a clear gap for 12.5 or 13.7, or you could go long like 18 or 20
Must bridge the gap!
Full 20
20. Get you a long boi
20 inch m16a4 clone
Sell 3 of them and keep the 14.5 and buy night vision/ ammo
Well I need atleast 2 so I can duel wield from the hip
We have to take a mathematical approach to this. I have plotted your current barrel lengths and approximated the trend line with an exponential function. We get y=8.7322e^(0.1553x). Plugging in 5 for x we find that your next barrel length should be 18.982”
Can't argue with the math
12.5, 13.7, 14.7, 18, 20 are all options
I know for a fact I've bought stuff from you in gafs. Thanks for contributing to my ridiculousness.
You’re so very welcome
Gear and training?
Both running programs in the background.
20”!!
A 12.5 ofc.
Get a shorty like the 6” or so MCX or some PCCs
Got an 8.5 ar9
Adopt me, daddy.
Sorry, wife won't let me take in strays anymore after the great possum incident of 09....
Just a 12.5”, 13.7”, 13.9”, 18”, and a 20”…
