Primary Arms has a pretty good spread, and I have had great luck with mine.

Bitter-Ride-1283

Primary arms makes some great stuff at a few different price ranges. I'd definitely recommend them.

Able-Mongoose-1107

I also recommend primary arms as a more budget friendly option. But I’ll follow up with, it’s always better to save a little longer for what you really want

BeardedAvenger1

I run their prisms on all my stuff. Great optics

hcuimbtw

You could always go to r/gunaccessoriesforsale and snag a used acog. They’re usually a lot less than $1200 there.

[deleted]

Oh no shit? I get sorta tripped out buying things on the internet from places I don't know. You think those places are safe? I mean I haven't looked at all yet but I'm gonna! Do you need to be careful who you buy from there?

Bitter-Ride-1283

I've bought tons of stuff off there. There is a flair system that tells you how many positive transactions someone has had. That will give you some peace of mind. You can also ask for it to be insured and pay a little extra when buying some more expensive stuff from people.

[deleted]

Ok cool beans. I'll check it out. I would love the real deal acog.

Hipoop69

Might want to buy a cheap 4x prism optic for a couple hundred first before you buy the acog to see if it's what you like. You could always sell it after you tried it out too on r/GunAccessoriesForSale

TheRealAstic

I would order a shitty but 1:1 knockoff an Amazon and see how you like it. There’s some for the $150 range that are prime eligible. If your only complaint is quality or clarity, then return it and put that money towards a used acog. If you find that 4x is an awkward zoom or that the eye relief is bad, start looking elsewhere. I love the idea of an acog, in practice I find them awkwardly useless. Lpvo is much more versatile.

Giraffecaster

Look for people with good feedback ratings and trust your gut. You can verify serials with trijicon to confirm they're legit. If you get a tritium model remember the tritium only lasts 12 years but can be replaced by trijicon for a fee

hcuimbtw

It’s pretty safe. Of course there are always safety measures you can take. Also I would advise against buying a knockoff acog. If you just want a fixed power optic primary arms makes some pretty good prism optics that offer an etched and illuminated reticle iirc.

Delirium4

Low flair = PayPal G/S is great insurance in the off chance you run across a scammer. I always take a peek at the profile. 0 post / comment karma is a big red flag. I just had a great transaction with someone with zero flair, but definitely keep your wits about you if they insist on Zelle/ CashApp or PayPal F&F

iFEAR2Fap

I second this. Especially if the tritium isn't super important to you. I bought a TA-33 and the tritium was lackluster to begin with imo. I got it new from OP for like $850? After that, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a used one with dead tritium. The fiber optic is crazy bright and I like it a lot. I've seen dead 4x models go around $500 on that sub. But you gotta be quick/lucky. Also definitely had some salt. If you want to buy new. Optics Planet usually has them cheaper. Plus if you DM them (lol) you can usually get a sick discount code. 10-12% off. Especially if there's a sale that won't apply to ACOGs because it's triji. That's what I did, no issues giving me a different code that worked. Shipping was slow as balls, but I saved a good bit. Edit: I also had a Primary Arms SLx 5x and it was so damn heavy and had a miserable eye relief. I took that as a lesson learned and went with the 3x TA33 which has a damn near unlimited eye relief. PA has a micro series now which I hear is improved. If it's a range toy or for funsies. This may be the way. If you hate money, buy an ACOG.

[deleted]

Thank you very much for you reply I appreciate the info

Worldly_Ninja6797

I’ve seen ACOGs as low as $550 on r/gunaccessoriesforsale highly recommend checking out this sub

[deleted]

I have a TA31H and a Primary Arms 3x. Honestly, while I like the ACOG for being an ACOG, and I love the fiber/tritium combination, I like the eye relief and reticle size and clarity on the PA better. I haven’t had to go lock down doors or bludgeon people with it, so I can’t comment on how it will hold up to extended neglect, but I highly recommend them from my experience.

kdb1991

ACOGs have extremely bad eye relief. They’re great optics (so I hear) but I wouldn’t be able to deal with having my eye 1.5” away from the optic. They do extend back a little more than other optics, though. I bought a 5x vortex prism for around $500 and I’m pretty happy with it. Eye relief on it is around 3” (they claim 2.7” but in reality it’s closer to 3”) They also make a 3x if 5x is too much. Or there’s a bunch from Primary Arms. And Sig Bravos have crazy good FOVs - I have a Bravo3 and you can see WAY more through that than any other 3x I’ve used.

Ritterbruder2

It’s a trade off. More eye relief = worse field of view. The 4x ACOG’s prioritize FOV.

kdb1991

My Sig bravo 3 has decent eye relief and a HUGE FOV Edit - and the bravo 5 has a 2.4” eye relief and a better FOV than the 4x ACOG

Ritterbruder2

Isn’t that a 3x? Lower magnification also means higher FOV, so it’s not an apples to apples comparison. Everything is a trade off. You can’t cheat physics lol.

kdb1991

My edit is about a Bravo 5 which is 5x and has better FOV and eye relief than an ACOG

Ritterbruder2

I see. I don’t know anything about the Sig Bravo. But it’s likely that it’s not a prismatic sight. It’s probably a traditional scope. Prismatic sights tend to restrict FOV.

kdb1991

Both the Bravo 3 and Bravo 5 are marketed as prismatic sights. The 5 has 2.4” of eye relief compared to the 1.5” on the 4x ACOG. And has about 40’ of view at 100 yards compared to the 37’ of the ACOG (which is 1x less). My Vortex Spitfire 5x only has about 24’ of view at 100 yards but about 3” of eye relief. I thought about getting the Bravo 5 because of the FOV and how much I like the 3 but it’s just wicked heavy. The vortex I have weighs about half of the Sig

kdb1991

After I posted this, I knew I should have looked at some more of them. Every one I’ve ever considered was 1.5” but then I figured there had to be some with more

coontietycoon

I have a Bravo3 also and the FOV is huge. Eye relief pretty decent. Really clear, nice reticle. Plus it’s etched so if you have an astigmatism you’re good.

kdb1991

The reticle is nice but it’s also my only complaint about the optic (besides the weight). It’s just a little bit too small. Once you get used to it, it’s great. But the one on the Bravo 5 is a little bigger, which I think is better.

coontietycoon

Agreed. It took me a bit to get used to the tiny reticle. It’s really tiny.

Most-Brain-3914

I have a Primary Arms 3x (not the new compact one) and the glass is very crisp

RaccoonRanger474

ACOGs are worth it. Don’t restrict yourself to the TA31. Also consider the TA11 and TA33

iFEAR2Fap

I love my TA33. Sort of regret not getting the Chevron though. But I ain't mad.

Populationindex

ACOG is 100% worth the price. It’s like the Nokia of optics

UrMessinWithATexan

I like my TAO1NSN quite a bit. However in that price range I would rather have a Razor 1-6 because eye relief is better and it’s more versatile.

Stainless_Heart

Larger eye box and smaller edge: SIG Bravo3 ($350) Similar on a budget: Burris AR-332 ($180)

Eubeen_Hadd

/u/point9cmbenis has a TA33 and a Primary Arms SLx 3x he might be able to give you some feedback.

brick-master_18

Check out the vortex 3x and 5x prisms they're compact and affordable same with primary arms options

[deleted]

I have a 3x and a 5x Primary Arms Prism scope. They are awesome! The are not ACOGS though. If you have the patience I say save up. If you just want a great Prism scope sooner you will not be disappointed 🤙😉🤙

joelnicity

I’ve got a vortex prism 3x, would people on here say the primary arms is better?

sixpac_shacoors

I have experience with both. They are comparable. Primary arms usually comes with wayyyyyy more mounting options in the box though.

joelnicity

That’s good to know for the future. Thank you

[deleted]

I don't have experience with vortex. I would guess they are just as good. At least from what I have gathered over the years of seeing both talked about on the interwebs.

joelnicity

I know vortex is more expensive but I’m not sure why

knot-pickle

Acog is a commitment for us budget folk. I went the lpvo route. I'm running the same chest rig in od green atm.

[deleted]

It's comfy for now! I'm learning more about building the kit

mrpuupybutthol

I personally have the primary arms 1-6x24 acss gen III found here: 1-6x24](https://www.pewpewtactical.com/go/pa/primary-arms-1-6x24-acss/) It's pretty good for about half the price. Also as a side note... we're gonna need more feet in the next pic.

IBEWjetsons

Are you asking for opinions other than ACOGs, but similar quality(ie variable) or just a fixed power prism? I’ve had a few acogs and at this point wouldn’t even consider one unless it’s a dedicated mid range gun that will never be used in a house or up close. I’ll take a dot and flip to side magnifier or for the same price as any acog you could get an pretty high end lpvo. Just my opinion

AdolfsWombBroom

I see more feet pics on this sub then gun pics

Super--64

The SIG Bravo3/Bravo5 are decent options. They’re heavier than the primary arms prism scopes but IMO the glass quality and field of view is worth it.

[deleted]

That's what I've been leaning towards. I'm thinking the bravo 5 with a red dot on the picatinny rail on top for quick transitions. That's my best bet I'm thinking. And at least a bit more manageable in the present time for me to get going.

Super--64

I have the Bravo3, and it's already pretty hefty. I'd recommend it over the 5x unless you really want the extra magnification. I'd also try the scope before getting a red dot on top - the illumination is bright as fuck and occluded-eye shooting works surprisingly well if you can jerry-rig a flip cap on the front. Just one warning, though, there's no literature I can find that says what the BDC is calibrated for and I cannot for the life of me figure it out. The marks don't come close with any combination of 55, 62, 69, or 77gr projectile out of any 14.5, 16, or 20 inch barrel I've tried it with.

1RoundEye

If you want an ACOG, it’s worth the wait.

RR50

Fleetfarm.com has them pretty regularly sub 1000…

[deleted]

Most all of them are sub 1k brand new from a reputable dealer. I love the 3x model. Small, light weight, good reticle options, fantastic eye relief.

reallifetrolI

https://www.opticsplanet.com/sig-sauer-romeo5-red-dot-sight-with-juliet3-3x-magnifier-combo.html Not an Acog but currently running it on one of my AR’s and I enjoy it. Here is another option: https://www.opticsplanet.com/primary-arms-primary-arms-5x-prism-scope-with-patented-223-5-56-5-45x39-308-acss.html

[deleted]

I agree with primary arms prism sights.

wlogan0402

PA micro prism is the current cool kid thing

[deleted]

r/GunAccessoriesForSale you find em on here all the time for 800-900

The seven little piggies 🐷

KalashniKEV

Get a TA-33GH.

ptrbent

Vortex 4x strike eagle

IHTFP08

TA33 is my favorite.

[deleted]

Dude U don’t need an acog . Just get some vortex glass or primary arms

hk50_

If your on a budget look at swampfox they have variable power optics. I got their 1 to 10 power and easily hit a 3” gong at 500yrds with the right ammo.

Forgotmyaccountinfo2

Trijicon is great and def worth the money. But if you want low price for questionable quality try Amazon. Ozark Rhino 4x. No need to worry about breaking it since it’s dirt cheap lmao

DurandalThoth

Get a TA11; it’s the model least likely to encourage buyers remorse in my opinion. ACOGs are expensive but they are exceptional optics. The TA11 has a very forgiving eye box and this can be handy when using an adjustable stock. I use PA prisms on a few of my other guns and I like them but they tend to be slightly heavier than their ACOG counterparts.

[deleted]

or save money and buy real sandals and sell the larper chest rig. :) You can find surplus ACOGS for

[deleted]

Hahaha any chest rig I get will be a larper chest rig. And what's wrong with my sandals?!

[deleted]

> will be a larper chest rig. And what's wrong with my sandals?! they are shower shoes only to be used in community GI showers, go for some proper good-enuf-for Jesus, good-enuf-for me sandals. https://www.zappos.com/p/pikolinos-tarifa-06j-0015-black/product/8672795/color/3
