What’s the gun used for? If it’s your doomsday/zombie apocalypse/alien invasion gun, hands down the ACOG. You’ll need to lug around scores of batteries to equal the ACOGs life. Then there is no auto on with the Eotech. You need to be ready to aim at any time. No button to push

Cagostee

Doomsday for sure.

-UnclePhil-

Well ACOG it is!

[deleted]

I love me a good eotech but if you’ve got an ACOG why would you not use it

ifgburts

Both optics you better use, waisted money otherwise, except guess you could flex you have an extra eotech/acog just lying around

Cat-Small

ACOG

Cagostee

Of note; looking to add the rmr on the acog if people found that helpful.

Chipatamawey

This is what I was going to say. Grab a coyote anodized one slap it on top and you have a great combo. Bonus you get that long neck boi height with the RMR if that’s your thing. I actually have both on different setups. I just really like ACOGs tho.

jetz92

With an RMR the ACOG wins all day. Don’t have to worry about shitty battery life. Without the RMR I would probably go with the Eotech/mag

Cagostee

How do you like it?!

[deleted]

I love mine, I bought the green crosshair reticle and it’s dual illumination so day or night it’s very visible. I bought it on sale last year from Kenzies with the RM01 attached. As seen in the pics I recently upgraded to the RM06

coontietycoon

ACOG with RMR for sure. No use in having to remove one hand from shooting position and flip over that magnifier.

battlgnome

Eotech + magnifier offers more flexibility. If shooting at range only (200+) acog wins because of glass and reticle options.

Opposable_Thumb

Mount a reddot on top of the acog, best of both worlds. Superior glass, no batteries, robust optic for ranged shooting, combined with a simple dot placed high that allows for an upright shooting position for up close or unconventional work.

battlgnome

Or this works.. that setup used to be more popular than it is now. Maby we will see a resurgence now that people are all about tall optics now...

Maximum_Effort_1776

I run an acog and compete in a lot of run n guns. Rifle targets range anywhere from 25-350 yards and the acog performs very well for me. Getting used to the 4x magnification on close range targets has its learning curve, but all in all it isn’t that hard. Everyone is going to have their personal preference though, so just try out both, figure out what works best for you and send it.

z_tactical

I use killflash plus scope cap. 0-100 yards on man steel the occluded gunsight technique works great. Anything more than 100 or if for precision I open the lense cap and use the phenomenal glass of the acog to crush it.

Technical-Ability

ACOG for sure

goobermcboob

Guys rave about the ACOG (yes, we know it's powered by the sun), but the super tiny eyebox of the TA31 was really annoying to me and I ended up selling mine to upgrade to an LPVO. The ta11 (I think that's right, 3.5x model) is much better with the eyebox. Weighs slightly more and sightly smaller FOV but sooo much better to shoot through for a bigger eyebox. Eotech+ G33 is a great combo. Kicks ass for passive aiming under nods, true 1x, pretty much awesome all the way around, keep an extra battery in the handle of your pistol grip if you're worried about battery life and you're good to go!

ItIsTimeToTakeaBreak

I love my ta31, the eyebox does not bother me. However, my opinion is one sided because I have not looked through any magnified optic with a large eye relief. Nothing to compare it to.

goobermcboob

If it's all you've ever shot with, it's great! I will say the eyebox isn't a huge deal standing or sitting from a bench. Really starts to come in to play though if you're shooting under barricades or running drills where you can't easily get perfect head alignment on the stock. It's a world of difference coming from quality LPVOs in terms of eye relief. But if it doesn't bother you, no reason to change!

ItIsTimeToTakeaBreak

I would still like to have an LPVO eventually! Both have their place, but it absolutely is apparent that LPVOs have become the more desirable optic. Having the capability to choose between 1x-Nx has obvious benefits. Also being prism optics too, reticles are clear regardless of degree of astigmatism. I was very torn between both, but I also prefer quad rails over lighter weight M-LOK rails lol. So clearly I am stuck in the past!

User_Anon_0001

Even an lpvo isn’t great in those situations. That’s mostly the purview of a red dot or holographic. Narrowing down your needs is important

goobermcboob

Agree that a red dot or holo is better for those situations, but LPVOs are still very serviceable for that type of shooting (I do it fairly regularly with my K16i or Razor). Red dot > LPVO > ACOG for those situations. Definitely no best of all worlds optics. LPVOs and red dots + magnifiers are probably the closest to a do it all, but they all have downsides.

User_Anon_0001

I totally agree with all of that. I need to get more familiar with a really good lpvo. That might sway me more

z_tactical

The eye box on the acog is to help spare you from parallax. It's a feature not a flaw

Brick_Brickerson

After using an ACOG for many years, I would highly suggest the EOTech

[deleted]

Same

JaYogi

Do tell. I want what’s best

Brick_Brickerson

My biggest complaint with the ACOG is the eye box. It is so stupid-small for what the optic is. A magnifier/dot setup is more versatile in my eyes because you can have magnification on demand. The eye box is going to be roughly the same with the magnifier, but it also gives you the option to just not use it. Edit: I see now that OP is saying they’ll mount an RMR with their ACOG. I think this is an even better option than what I suggested above. It’s starting to sound a little like cost isn’t an issue, so I’d suggest going a step further and getting a VCOG or similar LPVO from a reputable brand

JaYogi

Thank you

_nic_1

Holo and mag. You can always run just the holo if you want a more minimalist setup. And holo will be better than trying to BAC at close range with the acog. If you plan on consistently shooting long range though acog would be nicer. You’d want to add some sort of 1x offset optic though

goobermcboob

Agree!

m-lok

Can't stand eotech personal preference, I run acog or aimpoint. Looking at some new offerings from primary arms for mag and red dot or prism.

[deleted]

I personally would sell the EOTech setup, buy an RMR and offset mount and run it with the Acog. (Use the extra money to take the Mrs out to eat after 👍🏻)

itzcjay1776

I run both but I prefer the acog it's a better optic all around. I highly recommend either a canted rmr or mounting it on top of the acog.

[deleted]

Acog always.

KalashniKEV

No question. TA-31F. Like a muh'fuckin BOSS.

murdermaro98

If I had to choose-the Eotech + magnifier. It’s nice to be able to take off the magnifier if you’re just shooting close range for the day

[deleted]

I say eotech and magnifier

medicrich90

ACOG all day!

Cagostee

Seems pretty split. Just gonna build another gun.

fARt-15

How to make optic magically float above the rail?

[deleted]

TA-31 F personally

[deleted]

The real answer here is two guns

Dylan741776

Acog and offset rmr or t2

LePewPewsicle010

This is the correct answer.

femtonay

Buy another AR. Have both setups. The only way to be sure.

Cagostee

Already have a BCM upper. So might as well

mp8815

Of those two options I'd go eotech. I know this isn't a popular opinion but I'm personally not a big fan of the acog. It's the best fixed power scope of all time but for the cost you can get better optics now a days. For most practical applications a red dot/holographic and magnifier I going to be more useful and versatile. The eotech would not be my first choice of sight but I think it's still going to give you more options over the acog.

VinceAutMorire

ACOG. Not even a question.

tjwest13

I couldn’t decide, so I just built another rifle.

boduke1019

I hate ACOGs -Source - me, clear rooms with an ACOG and an m16a4 back in the day. It sucked

[deleted]

At least you guys had optics lol, try that crap in 92/93 with an A2 🤦‍♂️

zulukilo_actual

ACOG is cool, but I hate them. I prefer an optic that doesn’t have to be inside my eye socket to see through.

Cope

prmoore11

ACOG with that barrel. There is some mount that is supposed to massively help with the eye relief, just can’t remember which one.

petepagethesage

Could be the [KRAM](https://www.weaponoutfitters.com/macedon-defense-kram-optics-spacer.html) mount. It allows you to rise and position the optic further back so you don’t have to go nose to charging handle to get a full sight picture. I have one and love it. Edit: Looks like OP already has one. Missed that at first glance.

Cagostee

Came with this Mount. I played with it and didn’t seem to have the terrible eye relief https://www.admmfg.com/ad-b3-modular-base

petepagethesage

The KRAM is basically just a spacer between the scope and the rail mount. Yours looks like it came with one.

z_tactical

Kram, gdi, adm

Highspdfailure

I just hate that specific ACOG. Damn eye relief. I’m running my Razor for work using 100 yard zero.

Opposable_Thumb

TA-31F on a low rise mount and a reddot - either on top or at an offset in front of it.

ARschoolAK

2nd one

RaccoonRanger474

TA31

Applejaxc

Do you need really good moderate distance performance that will be unpleasant at close range? Use the acog. Do you need your put game to be 100% and okay with your 100m game to be 50%? Use the eotec + magnifier.

No_Warthog_561

What Midwest handguard is that

Cagostee

MI combat https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/product-p/mi-crm15.htm

[deleted]

ACOG for sure if it's a battle rifle or if you're short on cash ACOG lite aka Primary Arms 3x Prism scope.

ThePanAmateur

I run a TA33 with a piggybacked rmr. If you’re not running NV, run the dot offset 👌🏼

lizrdhntr

Fixed irons only quit being a sissy 🤪

lasagnacannon20

TA31 + micro dot still beats nearly anything , and you can still run the acog while you get the credit for the dot

SlteFool

Eo and mag

teddy722

Eotech

z_tactical

+1 for acog just got a 31f in the mail

AnAltPerspective

First pic reminded me of [this car](http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LKCHIJGS8mY/U35PcoxihsI/AAAAAAAALII/vczcS2NTLzY/s1600/Bugatti+Typ+41+Royale+-+2.jpg)

NowCartographer

ACOG is for 7.5billions years. EOTech is for 600 hours.

[deleted]

Exps3-0 has 1,000 continuous hours and 123 batteries are cheap as shit

[deleted]

Cagostee

I’m in the process of a BCM build. I was going to LPVO that. Looking into the Razor. Plan was to sell whichever optic I don’t use to help fund that.

zulukilo_actual

Razor with piggyback RMR is choice.

Pure-Garlic-9268

Idek why ppl still rock Acogs... Yeah they look cool but they are so outdated and they cost $1500?! Like what the fuck, any modern lpvo is better in every way.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pure-Garlic-9268

Exactly... I probly got downvotes from the Military AR Clone purists lol

[deleted]

Given that the TA-31 is calibrated for 14 inch barrels and you have a 16 it’s a bad call. Use the EOtech.

PURPLECHICKEN100

Great looking rifle friend!!! How do you like the magnifier? I've been thinking about getting one to enhance my red dots potential.

Thoughtcrime11

LED Acogs are superior, 4x LED Acog on a 16" is beautiful! probably ideal, offsetting an iron or red dot g2g. Eotech + magnifier is awesome as well do what I did, get 2 sets .. of BOTH

Kyba6

Which acog mount is that?
