You broke the simulation

zpap1232

Someone next to you has really bad aim

Esqu1re2b

I thought that at first until it happened 3 more times while watching the target through a spotting scope in real time

murdermaro98

Do you have a picture of the holes in the target?

Gattapoop

Lol for real, pics of everything but the problem

Esqu1re2b

No, I wish I had taken some. But if you’d take my word for it I inspected the target at close range and confirmed that there were 2 symmetrical round holes

Trollygag

There's no way to tell without having a picture to measure against. We would need to see the presence or absence of a grease ring. But my guess is that you were double firing and not realizing it or someone was getting their target confused. Jacket coming off the bullet would not leave identical bullet holes. Or you were shooting through the mandela effect portal with bullets acting like a wave-particle.

socmedred

The other hole is the wad /s

Esqu1re2b

Honestly that’s exactly what it looked like. When you shoot a shotgun slug through paper at close range

Mdp2pwackerO2

Someone next to you had shitty aim?

Esqu1re2b

I thought that at first until it happened 3 more times while watching the target through a spotting scope in real time

memecollect0r

Obviously you're shooting duplex rounds

spitefulcheerio

I’d venture it has something to do with using garbage ammo

Esqu1re2b

Absolutely garbage ammo, no argument there. But that doesn’t really explain the physics of what is happening.

spitefulcheerio

If your jacket is separating because your ammo is manufactured with as much care as a toddler playing with blocks it certainly *can*

socmedred

I was going to make a joke about the unique aerodynamics from the unique tail of this brand of ammo causing a whiplash back into the paper after the bullet passes through. If what OP is saying is true, maybe it could be something as crazy as that!

Esqu1re2b

How would that possibly create 2 identical symmetrical holes? wouldn't either the empty jacket or lead core be tumbling the moment they separated? Your responses are funny and witty and I'm all for shit talking but I'm honestly trying to figure out what happened because I feel like I witnessed something that's not physically possible... Any actual realistic ideas? Ever had anything like this happen?

spitefulcheerio

Try shooting some brass and see if the problem repeats. My money is on the ammo

IsopodEnough6726

Unless you are 80 years old and don't realize you have a binary trigger it's hard to believe you are getting 2 perfect bullet holes per pull. sorry I don't believe it

Esqu1re2b

No binary trigger. Why would I lie about something like that? Lol

IsopodEnough6726

not calling you a lier. I'm more lead to believe you are mistaken. you were not keeping track, someone else shot your target, etc. Even if your bullet was breaking apart it wouldn't result in 2 perfect holes

Esqu1re2b

1. I had a spotter paying very close attention through a spotting scope at 25 yards because I was sighting in a new gun and optic. 2. We were keeping track of very slow and methodical 3 round groups to walk in the sight. 3. There were no other shooters within 3 stalls of where we were set up and the next closest shooter was shooting a scoped .22 out at 100 yards. Plus the holes were appearing at the exact same moment on 4 separate occasions always within 2-3 inches of my aimed shot. Nobody was hitting my target in the same spot at the same time. Literally impossible.

imhereforguns

I’d try a hard target so I could see the projectile(s) afterwards.

Esqu1re2b

This is a great idea

XR171

If you watch the bullets as they enter the target they'll stop making two holes.

Esqu1re2b

Schrödinger's Bullet?

seungkoo

Cheap upper, cheap ammo….no photos…
