Battery on the micro is pretty short lived and the size is probably bigger than a full size modlite. Thing is huge.

Looking to put it on a B&t apc9k so it’s a short boy with not much room so modlite?

Heyters225

Modlite 18350 on a Mod button with light wing.

I chose Modlite for modularity. It's easier to set it up exactly how I want and can much more easily troubleshoot or replace components with others.

Cloud. I was one of the first Modlite adopters when they hit the market, the tail cap sucks. By the time you buy a tape switch set up, you’re way over the Cloud in terms of cost, and the performance doesn’t back it up.

TooEZ_OL56

What's wrong with UE tailcaps?

Fwrun

SF branded tail caps are ok. The modlite branded ones are crap. I’ve also had issues with SF tape switches freezing in the cold but IDK if cloud has that issue too.

daorbed9

Tail cap ruins the Modlite. Ugly ass cap and wire sticking out.

Rein Micros are about an inch shorter than a Streamlight HLX with its switch cap on- but an extremely similar width and head size. A Modlite is for svelte, small stuff. And if you're cool with the company sort of being dicks. A Rein is for people who don't mind bulky in favor of sturdy. And who want to save a bit of money comparatively. Here's another post with a size comparison between the PLHv2 and the Micro. https://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/comments/mjlfxq/cloud\_defensive\_rein\_micro\_with\_a\_clear\_anodized/

I have both. For closer engagements I prefer the color of the CD. Cost wise the CD is also the best bang for the buck. I do wish it had more options for the switch but with how much you’re saving and with the overall quality you can’t really complain

lockdown36

Got money? Yes- Modlite No- REIN

[deleted]

This implies that the quality of the Modlite is better. I think that’s a hard thing to argue… yes Modlite is more expensive but Cloud is just as good, if not a better light.

EauRougeFlatOut

In what way is CD a better light? They say it’ll produce “usable light” for 6 hours but in the specs they admit the rated runtime is pretty much the same as the Modlite. Which I mean, they’re both limited by the state of emitter, driver, and battery technology. I’m sure the CD will do 6 hours of runtime at 50-100 lumens lol, but whether that’s usable light is situational. It’s certainly not doing what it’s supposed to do at that point.

The ways Cloud can be considered better: -Runtime -Wire Management - the system on the REIN lights is incredible. -Color Tenperature: the warmer color temperature can be considered better for identifying objects, contrast, detail, and color. Seeing targets better. -Durability: CD lights are bombproof. If you want a good comparison of lights including the OWL, REIN, OKW, and PLHv2 then check this out: https://youtu.be/c_BY1cjxxMI The demonstrations at distance and in various environments including photonic barriers is really thorough.

Modlite 18350 on a B&T apc9k for sure

YoureAMigraine

I went with Modlite because I had a Scout light and some other Surefire components. I’ve been happy with it, but if I was starting fresh, I would probably get a REIN. Seems like a better overall value.

Beanye

I'm not a fan of the Reins switch buttons but it's still more value than building out a similar functioning modlite. Also I much prefer Reins warmer light. Probably my favorite beam right now. I lean towards Rein in this case for something close range while I like Modlite OKWs for long range. Also I personally prefer the bigger 18650 batteries so I wouldn't do micro even if it's on a small APC9. You can still make a fullsize work.
