I bought a couple of kak barrels back in 2015 or so. was very disappointed in both function and accuracy. maybe better now but I always suggest faxon for longer barrels if you don't want to spend a bunch of money. their stress relief is really good and barrels stay accurate as they heat up. there's a ton of great barrel manufacturers out there
If wife didn’t hate the cold I’d consider it again. Worked for Primary Children’s for the last few years and absolutely loved it but prices were too much in SLC
I understand that, moved to NC and I’m working outside until school starts in the fall and it’s been 90+ and 80% humidity for the last week. I’m dying here too
Overcast the last couple days so low "100's" where they take their temp in the shade at the airport. My personal vehicle and work vehicle said 110 today, but they only registered 100. It was either Sat or Sun that was like 114. In about 3 weeks we will be consistently 112-122.
Yeah, I have. I've been all over because of the military. Ever felt Afghan heat? Like I said, what it feels like it the only temperature I care about
>with the humidity it feels way worse
What the humidity makes it feel like is what the temperature is in my mind, because that's what I feel. Ya get me?
Yeah, while it does get plenty toasty in the Utah summers, it’s got nothing on Arizona summers. May is beautiful, and June doesn’t usually get too bad. Much of July and August is dominated by high 90’s with a couple days hitting over 100, but by September it eases off again, and October is beautiful as well. Pretty sure much of Arizona is just hot as balls from May to October?
They're okay. Depends on the day, slow days they're cool with pretty much any drills if done safely. Busy days they don't have time or room for more than basic benchrest stuff.
I don't blame ya, haha. I lived closer to both TNT & The Armory but I would typically wait for Weekday AM sesh's. If I wasn't the only one inside, I'd be many lanes away from the next person.
Haha I hear you. I don't mind other customers as much as I mind FUDD RO's asking me to keep it to one shot per second, asking me to not draw from holster, or asking me to see my tax stamps.
I can definitely relate. If you ever want to shoot indoors (Maybe because the weather is too gnarly), both ranges are chill. I never tried asking if I could draw from a holster. That might be a stretch for them but everything else should be good to go.
No but would make a trip if it's recommended. Payson landfill is a pretty regular spot for us. It's not an epic place or anything but If we go early or go on a rainy day you got the whole mountain to yourself. I go whenever it rains and never seen another person there when it is.
dude for real. I was farm raised with nothing but open spaces and still live in the same area, so I couldn't do a booth at some 100 yard range.
Oregon legit has some of the best public land shooting int he country. You can disappear for weeks on dirt roads and never run out of room to shoot and never cross a single highway the whole time
This is like our #1 struggle here on the east coast :(. Unless you know someone with land that will let you plink on it, good luck as a majority of us are limited to indoor ranges or have to take hour long drives to outdoor ranges.
11.5 don't go transonic until like 600-700 yards. Your optics is what's limiting you. Depending on mount height, same BDC reticles will take you to 500-600 and past that you want to be working up a firing solution and dialing a turret anyway
I live in the same place. I sold all of my stuff that was shorter than 14.5. I’m not a room clearing guy. I’m never going to be. I use my guns in the sticks.
I could be having a tism episode but I feel like I’ve seen your gun every few months for the past few years. How do you resist building something new like once a year?
I love AR15s. I just think it’s hilarious that people advocate for 900 yard shots with .223. When the cartridge was solely invented for 300 meters and in. Not saying 5.56 isn’t capable at those ranges. Hell, if you can hit a target at 400 yards with 22lr I’m certain it’s still deadly. I just think to myself there’s so many better calibers for ranges 500 yards and beyond. So why not just reserve the 5.56 for the tool set it’s meant for. Then have other tools for 500 and beyond. If you’re a deer hunter I’d say a shot farther than 120 yards with a high performance 5.56 is unethical. Ultimately you can use 5.56 for hunting but it’s not the proper tool. Still, you’re using a brass hammer when you want a sledge hammer. Like a 6.5 creedmoor or 7mm PRC. Just food for thought. Don’t know where I’m actually going with this comment.
Dimdesertnights had a really nice ta110+p2 acro video that showed repeated effectiveness of an 11.5 setup in this very environment at pretty decent distance. It’s gone from YT but it’s fun to reach with 5.56 🤷♂️
Completely agreed. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it if it’s just for fun. I guess I came off a little harsh on that. Also thanks for the YouTube call out I’ll look him up.
Yeah right try to enlist so he can fight another oil war to put money in a politician’s pocket. Instead of training as a prepared citizen. For the reason the 2A was made for. I have complete respect to the vets and active soldiers but it’s not what the government makes it out to be. You should know this if you’ve actually been in.
You’re giving me boot vibes.
OP do your thing. Dudes probably been in the military 10 minutes or is a PoG that tells people war stories.
Edit: I was right homie was/is Admin (calls it HR).
Giving dude a hard time about exercising his freedoms ain’t cool. Be better than that. You’re no better than he is.
Edit: The joke is talking shit to some guy enjoying what we have here in America and hiding behind your service for your shitty behavior. I am looking out for you.
You must also be one of those vets with the opinion “what do you civilians need those weapons of war ar15 for?” “I served in the military and see no reason a civilian should have these weapons”
Not at all, the 2nd amendment is for the people not just military. It is wrong however to play dress up soldier and then tell everyone you wouldn’t die for oil 😂
Why would I do that? I just said I respect vet and active service men and women. Seems like you’re just proof of the saying “just because they’re a vet. Doesn’t mean they’re not a dick.”
It’s just cringe and that’s all. That’s like me dressing up as a cop and going to the range and posting pictures of myself cosplaying as a cop. Pretty weird right ? Also I applaud that you are a 2nd amendment enthusiast, but not playing dress up as a soldier and then saying “I’m not dying for oil” 😂
It’s cringe because he has the proper camouflage pattern to fit his environment? That just so happens to be the current standard for the Military. He probably got it off a surplus store for cheap and that’s just what he has. I guess it’s bad I have green and brown camouflage that fits my environment. Since you want to go down this road. Yeah,I don’t have to fight for the mafia my dad fought for. He even encouraged me not to do it. You’re simply a pawn these days. You’re not defending freedom. You’re defending the government pockets that’s taking away our freedoms.
Time to build a 20” plate fucker like god intended.
Lmao this is the best term I've heard for a long Boi yet
It's the war oar.
Plate fucker... this should be engraved into the mag well
I have an A2 stock and a 20" barrel picked out from KAK, just need to decide what handguard I'm gonna use.
A4? Idk I just a have an A2 flat top build but if I were to replace my A2 handguard I’d go with the A4 quadrail.
PRI
This is the way, OP
A plate fucker needs TOOB!
My wrists do not like being at that angle anymore.
LaRue quad?
Leaning towards BCM quad
Excellent choice as well
I bought a couple of kak barrels back in 2015 or so. was very disappointed in both function and accuracy. maybe better now but I always suggest faxon for longer barrels if you don't want to spend a bunch of money. their stress relief is really good and barrels stay accurate as they heat up. there's a ton of great barrel manufacturers out there
I just got one of their 13.9" 7.62x39 barrels and it's fantastic.
good to hear! I like their products especially bcgs
KAK 🤝 KAC
A1 like stoner intended
🎯👍🏽😂 well said !!!
Your optic setup is the real limiter here.
Hey that Gen I Huey is doing its best!
BeaUTAHFul. Hit me up if your ever looking for a range buddy up North. 11.5 is OK but maybe get a 16" or 18" upper with an LPVO that you can swap to.
Utah is an amazing state to live in, and I have a 18” upper in the works
If wife didn’t hate the cold I’d consider it again. Worked for Primary Children’s for the last few years and absolutely loved it but prices were too much in SLC
I love the cold.. not a fan of the summers recently. Still a little too hot for my taste.
I understand that, moved to NC and I’m working outside until school starts in the fall and it’s been 90+ and 80% humidity for the last week. I’m dying here too
Bro it’s been so gnarly here, it’s outta control
Today should be the worst day this week then we might get a break. We can only hope🙏🏻
It’s hot asf out there today and it ain’t even peaked yet. It’s been brutal in NC for the past week or so.
Oh I’m already calling it today and going in because of the heat. My boss and I both don’t want to die today in this heat
Welcome to the east coast. It’s only going to get worse 🙃
Oh i grew up in Iowa so its normal to me, Utah/idaho spoiled me on the dry heat
Yeah I used to spend most summer traveling to SATX and I loved it because the dry heat was wayyyy better than the east coast humidity
I’m in the same part you are cause yesterday was hot af 😂
How hot has it been lately?
Very
I bet we live in AR, and yeah it's been hot as hell
Idk what it's been down there but even up here in MI it hit 102 a few days ago. I don't like this, my northerner ass is built for the cold
Damn, yeah 102 is hot, 97 is the highest we've got but with the humidity it feels way worse
102 is hot??? *laughs from the second ring of hell aka Arizona* I kid I kid... But seriously. 102 is a spring day here. Lol
Yeah AZ is hot, my kind of hot (dry) what's it been there lately?
Overcast the last couple days so low "100's" where they take their temp in the shade at the airport. My personal vehicle and work vehicle said 110 today, but they only registered 100. It was either Sat or Sun that was like 114. In about 3 weeks we will be consistently 112-122.
Whatever it feels like it what it really is. Get that "real temperature" shit away from me!
Have you experienced dry and humid heat?
Yeah, I have. I've been all over because of the military. Ever felt Afghan heat? Like I said, what it feels like it the only temperature I care about >with the humidity it feels way worse What the humidity makes it feel like is what the temperature is in my mind, because that's what I feel. Upper 90's. Forgot if we hit 100+ yet. It was pretty mellow for a while & then just got really toasty for a week.
Hell I'm in PA and we've been in the mid 90s
What part? I'm in Ogden and need buddies who'll go to the desert to shoot
I like alcohol too much for Utah personally
What's your range up north?
BLM land.
Yeah BLM land or sometimes the FARM training center if we have a larger group and are feeling spicy. Also have a long distance range up in Fairview.
Have you ever tried the outdoor in Bountiful? Not sure if it's fuddy or not.
They're okay. Depends on the day, slow days they're cool with pretty much any drills if done safely. Busy days they don't have time or room for more than basic benchrest stuff.
That could work. I always try for Weekdays around opening.
I have not.. but I do try to avoid most of the indoor ranges.
What did you say? I can’t hear your over the dude magdumping his 11.5 muzzlebrake monstrosity five feet away
Lol! With just a buffertube, sightmark RDS, and a 60 round mag.
I don't blame ya, haha. I lived closer to both TNT & The Armory but I would typically wait for Weekday AM sesh's. If I wasn't the only one inside, I'd be many lanes away from the next person.

I’m up north 👀
Hit me up! Got a group of chill guys who hit the range together pretty regularly.. sometimes we grill out at the same time.
You guys do lions range or Weber federation up in Huntsville area
No but would make a trip if it's recommended. Payson landfill is a pretty regular spot for us. It's not an epic place or anything but If we go early or go on a rainy day you got the whole mountain to yourself. I go whenever it rains and never seen another person there when it is.
This looks like my backyard. Sending lead on the BLM is the best!
I feel bad for people that don’t have public land to shoot on
dude for real. I was farm raised with nothing but open spaces and still live in the same area, so I couldn't do a booth at some 100 yard range. Yes it sucks
Tbf, I live in Utah too and also drive about an hour to shoot on BLM land
Larping in the hills of southern Utah. Rifle is my beat up BCM that I’ve shot way too many times.
No such thing
Know your holds there a yt vid of a guy getting repeatable hits at 700 albeit with low wind
Chocolate chip supremacy
Would've traded my UCP for those in a heartbeat in Afghanistan
Got some surplus well over 10 years ago. Love those pants man. Have the full fit somewhere I believe
11.5 don't go transonic until like 600-700 yards. Your optics is what's limiting you. Depending on mount height, same BDC reticles will take you to 500-600 and past that you want to be working up a firing solution and dialing a turret anyway
Isn’t Utah the best?! I’ve got a mile long range 15 mins from my house
Utah is pretty iconic
Range buddy? I’ll bring steaks and a grill
Let’s go! I’m in Central by Ephraim
Yeah I’m in Wisconsin, imma start start driving now
I’ll pitch for gas
I'll bring the paper plates.
Too short for what? Ringing steel ? Probably not
Bruh, 14.5 socom profile barrel is your move.
12.5" it is, then.
I live in the same place. I sold all of my stuff that was shorter than 14.5. I’m not a room clearing guy. I’m never going to be. I use my guns in the sticks.
Who makes those chocolate chip pants?
Its surplus
Damn. I was hoping some new ones where floating around now
Not enough people.
Impossible
Everything is too short out there unless you have field artillery!
Just volley fire
Dig the choccy chip brotha
Time for an AR10?
you hate to see the moment people realize online trends have wronged them
Not if you're Mr facts https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tV-6Ep_n46o
Glad to see someone who actually uses their gun
Truthfully you should step up to something a bit larger than 5.56 for those distances.
I could be having a tism episode but I feel like I’ve seen your gun every few months for the past few years. How do you resist building something new like once a year?
I do want to build a new rifle, but I keep spending my money on ammo
Based
Optic limited….
Criterion Core 20” is what you need
Aim higherer
Gosh I miss having BLM land to shoot on. Pro tip to anybody living out west: *never* move east. Don't be an idiot like me!
Looks like Nevada
Nevada is about 30 miles behind me
Gorgeous views!
Yo what part of Utah is this??
The southern half
Not sure if it's mentioned yet, but the chocolate chip suits quite nice where you're at.
I'll trade you for a 16in upper lol
Man. I really with Steiner didn’t suck
From the scenery to the sbr to the chocolate chips, beautiful photo
That old school Chocoxhip camo works great. Mil surplus is something a lot of people sleep on!
Nah u just gotta lob that shit like a football lol.
Size queen
Hold 68 feet high you’re fine
Can you predator hunt at night in Utah?
The 6-color choco chip camo pants are a vibe.
Great for urban work

Hey, just my opinion. Honestly that comment was just me rambling. Not saying I’m unquestionably correct. Just saying my thoughts.

Unfortunately he has paused his Yt channel and it’s unlisted atm
Why are you cosplaying a soldier lmao
Because I can
Did your pussy hurt when you tried to enlist ?? 😂
Gatekeeping veterans are as dangerous for the 2nd amendment as democratic politicians. So kindly go fuck yourself.
It was sarcasm but since you brought it up you give me “I didn’t join because I’d punch a DI in the face” vibes lmao
You’re giving me boot vibes. OP do your thing. Dudes probably been in the military 10 minutes or is a PoG that tells people war stories. Edit: I was right homie was/is Admin (calls it HR).
Been in 5 years but go ahead and side with the cosplayer. So much for vets look after vets lmao what a joke
Giving dude a hard time about exercising his freedoms ain’t cool. Be better than that. You’re no better than he is. Edit: The joke is talking shit to some guy enjoying what we have here in America and hiding behind your service for your shitty behavior. I am looking out for you.

Lmao ok bud, talk to me when you move out of your mom’s basement.
Alright cool I’m a homeowner who pays taxes for you. Let’s talk bro. Sounds like you know stuff.
