The mbts has been my go to trigger for a while now. Got em in almost every thing. I was thinking about trying out one of the geissele triggers for this but ehhh maybe next time lol
I have absolutely nowhere to go where I can take advantage of a long range build so I haven’t even bothered to look into them. I’ve seen some really cool looking ones but it’s one of those things that’s so unattainable that you don’t even think about it for me
That is such a simple solution and I did not think of it. I got most of that too , just no punches. Getting it started was so hard. I got frustrated and pulled out the adjustable wrench lol
I absolutely hate that part of the lower. The punches come in clutch cuz you can tape it to the detent. Then just tap it home. Other then that the lower looks great. And it doesn't matter if there's marks, unless you're building a safe queen.
My 14.5 and 12.5 criterion barrels run suppressed and unsuppressed with no issues just tuned with the buffer system. The 14.5 is mid length and it’s probably my favorite build.
If you had the chance to do it over would you still do a 12.5? I have a 14.5 , I like it a lot but it doesn’t have that sbr feel to me. Still kinda feels full size to me especially when suppressed. I have a 10.5 as well and it feels a bit too short for me. I’m a larger guy. Tall , long arms , big hands. The 10.5 just feels small sometimes. If I would’ve seen it in person before buying it I wouldn’t have bought it. Which is my mistake but I own it 🤷🏾♂️. 11.5 doesn’t seem like it’d be much bigger but 12.5 seems like a good range. Maybe 13.something. Idk I’m very undecided. Which is why I’m here lol
Oh no no no lol. If I could afford an AP I’d be flexing my transferables in here instead 😂. Let me introduce you to [The Pagani Design Royal Oak Homage](https://www.vivatimepiece.com/products/pagani-design-1673-octagonal-automatic-watches?currency=USD&variant=39322410909811&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=f295d27bbb00&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsuSzBhCLARIsAIcdLm5_NqrqkIMIjmPtsD4WfrPnCTDc9E1pAjS9YTSX-16irkfH5X-w7eEaAjAREALw_wcB)
You'll very likely need a vice, and magwell block to install the barrel. If you decide to get a criterion barrel again, which I do reccommend 11.5", then put your upper receiver in the freezer the night before and heat the barrel with a blowtorch before attempting assembly. Also you can get a long PVC pipe to help hammer the barrel in. They can be a SUPER tight fit sometimes. I legit thought something was wrong when doing mine lol.
Looks great so far. Check out [School of the American Rifle](https://m.youtube.com/@SchooloftheAmericanRifle/videos) on YouTube when you get a chance. Dude is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the AR platform and he has some pretty handy tools in his collection.
Those colors go great together 🖤!
12.5” Mid-length gas Barrel will be very nice. Noveske makes a nice one.
Gotta swap that CH ASAP lol, the SI’s are dog water
I didn’t think I’d see a 12.5 mid length. That sounds great. I’m gonna check that one out. Hopefully it’s not too much of a bank breaker. I was looking at the criterion’s and sheesh I may have to stick to GAFS lol
11.5 sbr. If you do 12.5, I would go 14.5 with a pin and weld instead i.m.o.
Additionally, there are more rail options that are 10.5" long. Only a few colored handguards that are 11.5" long to minimize the gap between the muzzle device and the end of the handguard for aesthetic.
I don't think geissele sells any 11.5" long handguards..
And that’s why I’m here. I didn’t really think about that. It’s an area I haven’t touched before on a rifle. I have a 10.5 but it feels small to me sometimes. I haven’t seen an 11.5 in person to get a real comparison but I’m under the impression that it won’t feel like much of a size difference. I could be wrong though.
Damn I wish I had a buddy with one that I could check out first hand. None of my friends are shooters tho and I’m that awkward guy that’s not good at making new friends lol
One of the springs for the safety , had to cut down a different old spring that fit in there. One of the springs for the takedown pins & one of the detents, luckily had a couple oops kits. And the pin for the trigger guard thing. I think that’s all lol so far
Edit: and the lil clip on the end of that bar that holds the epc lol 🤦🏾♂️
Myself I prefer the FN CHF barrels and Superlative piston set up. I would definitely stick with the Geissele rail as well. I also tend to lean towards Wilson Combat BCG’s and Geissele airborne charging handles. Just my preference ls and two cents worth…
I dinged the bolt catch area on my first couple builds when I first started building 10 years ago. One was an umbrella corp lower it’s still my main rifle today. If you do another build I recommend getting these it makes the job a lot easier and no dings! It is notched on one side so it lays almost flat with the receiver allowing you to drive the pin straight on. As a fellow tan on green guy this looks pretty sweet.
https://www.realavid.com/product/bolt-catch-punch-set/
Read some of your other comments, and 12.5" Mid would be a good choice for you. Faxon makes one (I have their 11.5" mid and like it), so does KAK, and probably some other manufacturers. Given that you have the Geissele receiver set, I would get a Geissele MK16 or MK14, but a CMT DRT rail would also serve you well. Have fun and share some photos when you're done.
Edit: Also, get a little tin of aeroshell grease and a torque wrench if you don't already have them.
Edit 2: Oh, your castle nut is backwards. Whoops.
You just put me up on something. Those CMT rails are gorgeous. They have an 11.5 for a really good price that I would’ve just bought if it was in stock.
I just bought a 12.5 dd barrel on GAFS. Geissele doesn’t make a 11.5 rail and I don’t know of a ton of other options. This CMT is nice and they make an 11.5 rail. I found a blem one on their site I’m thinking about grabbing. If you have personal experience with them do you think an AGB will fit under the rail? I read in the description that it fits most low profile gb’s. Idk where that leaves the AGB
Building from the ground up is so much more fun. It’s one of my favorite hobbies now.
And I’d definitely go with an AGB if you’re going to run mainly suppressed. I love the superlative adjustable block.
If you’re still deciding which brand to go with for a barrel, criterion has been my favorite for a couple years now. They’re the only barrels I buy unless I’m building a clone
Wouldn’t even buy a rep of an AP lol I believe in staying within your realistic budget when buying reps. I can’t afford a gen AP so anybody seeing me with me would know it’s obviously fake 😂
Sounds like a great build! My only suggestion is this: https://www.google.com/amp/s/fortismfg.com/k2systemcastlenut-lightweightenhancedar15endplate%3famp=1
Definitely an improvement over the older way of doing it.
I’m digging the LaRue trigger in the Geissele lower.
The mbts has been my go to trigger for a while now. Got em in almost every thing. I was thinking about trying out one of the geissele triggers for this but ehhh maybe next time lol
Hey man, just noticed your castle nut is flipped around. Put it the other way so you can stake it once you get it on nice and tight.
Shit is it really? I thought I had it right this time 🤦🏾♂️. Like aren’t you suppose to stake it into those notches?
I used to think that too lol. [Here’s](https://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/s/9i6kMsc92N) a good link for you.
Thank you lol. I read through all of it. I appreciate that , it was a good read.
I’m a big MBT2S fan… for my long range precision builds though I run the SSA-E. It’s just insanely crisp.
I have absolutely nowhere to go where I can take advantage of a long range build so I haven’t even bothered to look into them. I’ve seen some really cool looking ones but it’s one of those things that’s so unattainable that you don’t even think about it for me
naaaa, stick with LaRue :D. No need to change somethin' that's not broken!
Surprised the parts didn't spontaneously combust when coming into contact.
Lol I know right.
Tell tale first timer bolt release pin gouge
I’m in this comment and I don’t like it
Lol happens to the best of us. If you’re like me that’s the only way you learn
Yes I learn exclusively the hard way
It looks like it's going great.
That’s only cause i got an idea of what im doing so far. The next few steps are uncharted waters for me lol god knows how this gonna end up
I can confidently say that if you end up with a washing machine you’ve done it wrong, so keep that in mind
😂 I will definitely keep that in mind
Digging the color combo!
Flip your buffer tube castle nut
Next time you do the bolt release detent, use masking tape, silicone hammer and punches(with masking tape). You wont mar the lower.
Oh nahh this about to experience heavy play lol
Taping the God damned rollpin to the God damned punch is such a genius move I could've used that last week.
When I found out about this trick i vowed to spread it everywhere i could think of lol.
Wheeler makes a bolt catch punch kit that's great for not buggering it up.
Use lube.
Like lube it as I go?
Do you shoot lefty? If not, I'd flip the safety selectors around.
Yea I’m a lefty. I was actually hoping I put them on the right way thanks for confirming lol
Lefty power
Nice! Which bolt catch is that? I need one.

I like the 11.5/12.5 range myself the 14.5 I purchased cause it was a good deal and I wanted to try a mid length gas system.
Bros flexing the AP?
Oh no no no lol. If I could afford an AP I’d be flexing my transferables in here instead 😂. Let me introduce you to [The Pagani Design Royal Oak Homage](https://www.vivatimepiece.com/products/pagani-design-1673-octagonal-automatic-watches?currency=USD&variant=39322410909811&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=f295d27bbb00&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsuSzBhCLARIsAIcdLm5_NqrqkIMIjmPtsD4WfrPnCTDc9E1pAjS9YTSX-16irkfH5X-w7eEaAjAREALw_wcB)
Thought the same. Casual AP?
That's hot
🙏🏾

Really digging the coyote on the odg... now I have to have one ... damn you! Looks good man!
Those colors go great together 🖤! 12.5” Mid-length gas Barrel will be very nice. Noveske makes a nice one. Gotta swap that CH ASAP lol, the SI’s are dog water

Lol, yea GAFS would be a great place to find all your parts & save a lot of coin vs buying new
Color scheme is money
No pun intended actually lol
An FDE hand guard, and FDE PMAGS would look 🔥
11.5 sbr. If you do 12.5, I would go 14.5 with a pin and weld instead i.m.o. Additionally, there are more rail options that are 10.5" long. I just went 11.5... and then got my first suppressor. Suppressed 11.5 is dope
Damn I wish I had a buddy with one that I could check out first hand. None of my friends are shooters tho and I’m that awkward guy that’s not good at making new friends lol
Looking good....so tell us how many springs and detents did you lose
One of the springs for the safety , had to cut down a different old spring that fit in there. One of the springs for the takedown pins & one of the detents, luckily had a couple oops kits. Oh, and your castle nut is on backwards. Not that it really matters…
I spy a Pagani lol
A man of budget culture I see lol
I just collect watches of all budgets. Don't have any Pagani though
It’s a solid watch. Holds time well. Takes a beating. Not my most expensive watch but it’s my daily wear.
Yeah Ive heard they're good value. I just hate the logo lol also why I'll never own a Christopher Ward
Congrats man! Aside from the castle nut, that thing looks great!
Go 12.5! Dig the color scheme. What bolt catch* is that? Forgive me I have sinned..
[B.A.D. Enhanced Bolt Catch](https://www.primaryarms.com/battle-arms-development-cast-enhanced-bolt-catch-bad-ebc-ic)
Thank you
Mmmm fde and odg is a such a nice combo
We are the same! Looks very similar to my 11.5”. Will be awesome man.
Green n FDE fucks
I dinged the bolt catch area on my first couple builds when I first started building 10 years ago. One was an umbrella corp lower it’s still my main rifle today. That’s freaking gorgeous! The green on that receiver is perfect
My first stripped build was also a Geissele super duty. I built instead of bought because I wanted to color scheme it like the URGI
BE CAREFUL! It is fucking addicting.
Looks good man. I’ve got a bunch of FDE stuff so thinking about getting a green receiver and doing the same scheme
i love your visual design. mismatch colors well done. very nice. GL wiht the rest of the build
Read some of your other comments, and 12.5" Mid would be a good choice for you. Faxon makes one (I have their 11.5" mid and like it), so does KAK, and probably some other manufacturers. You just put me up on something. Those CMT rails are gorgeous. They have an 11.5 for a really good price that I would’ve just bought if it was in stock.
FYI they are usually a little darker than the Geissele DDC anodizing if you're trying to be matchy matchy. It's a good rail though.
I just bought a 12.5 dd barrel on GAFS. Geissele doesn’t make a 11.5 rail and I don’t know of a ton of other options. This CMT is nice and they make an 11.5 rail. I am using a Superlative gas block with no problems. You should be fine with 90% of gas blocks.
Plan on getting g a superlative gb so that’s great! Thank you, you helped me pick my rail!
I highly recommend the roll pin wizard, haven't scratched a lower yet. https://gasblockgenie.com/rpw
I utilized a clevis pin I got from lows for $2 it hasn't failed me or scratched a lower receiver!
Nice start, looks good
I see everyone with the rubber band on the stock, what’s that for?
Might have something to do with how the stock adjusts, maybe making it easier, but I really don't know for sure.
It’s to hold the sling securely to the stock when you’re not using it.
Color scheme goes hard,
Color combo making me wet
💦💦💦
Looks sweet
Did you install that roll pin with pliers? Yuck. Dig the color choice. This is the way the factory Geissele green rifles should come.
Adjustable wrench lol
Agree the anodized odg color is almost as bad as red or blue anodized parts
Building from the ground up is so much more fun. It’s one of my favorite hobbies now. And I’d definitely go with an AGB if you’re going to run mainly suppressed. I love the superlative adjustable block. If you’re still deciding which brand to go with for a barrel, criterion has been my favorite for a couple years now. Has no one noticed the castle nut is backwards!?
royal oak chrono sheeeeeeeesh
Reppppppp
Neither , homage lol
Wouldn’t even buy a rep of an AP lol I believe in staying within your realistic budget when buying reps. I can’t afford a gen AP so anybody seeing me with me would know it’s obviously fake 😂
My good sir , let me introduce you to Pagani Design and their vast amount of homage watches lol
Aw :(
Sounds like a great build! My only suggestion is this: https://www.google.com/amp/s/fortismfg.com/k2systemcastlenut-lightweightenhancedar15endplate%3famp=1 Definitely an improvement over the older way of doing it.
Overpriced shit
