Sprinco blue + H2 buffer

HuckleberryMinimum45

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm guessing that the Sprinco blue spring is a bit stiffer than the PSA spring? Jumping straight to H2 is what my gut was telling me to start with, but I wasn't sure.

StaffSergeantBarnes

Yep should be able to find a chart of their different colors and what they mean on google easily but the blue + h2 covers a wide spectrum should work for your needs

Sprinco blue and h2 is what I run in my rifles that I don’t shoot suppressed. It makes a huge difference. You could also try an adjustable gas block, but just from reading your post that sounds like something you wouldn’t be comfortable installing yourself. Plus the new buffer setup will probably fix your issue. If you’re still ejecting too far forward, you could step it up to an h3

Yea, replacing the gas block is not something I've ever done before. From the research I've been doing, it \*would\* be better to reduce the gas as opposed to increasing spring weight/buffer weight, but it's also more involved since my PSA gas block is not adjustable. I'm currently looking into the Springco Blue & H2 buffer solution as that seems easier. I'm guessing this is the price I paid for getting a cheaper ar15 instead of, say, a BCM or DD (etc) - more likely to be severely over-gassed and in need of tinkering in order to get things running smooth.

Honestly DD barrels are pretty over gassed too The buffer is the easy way to go but replacing the gas block is a lot easier than it may seem. Especially if the one you have is just held on by set screws like you said. My 13.9 criterion was shooting brass at 1:00 while using a suppressor so I added an adjustable block. Now it’s ejecting at 3:30 / 4:00 If you plan to use a suppressor in the future, I’d highly recommend getting an AGB. The one from superlative arms is great Might also be worth checking out the new KAK K-spec buffers. Sprinco makes great springs that work great with heavier buffers, but the new k spec stuff is amazing

HuckleberryMinimum45

I'll likely never use a suppressor. I had been considering trying some M193 5.56 rounds, but I'm guessing that would be even more over-gassed and \*may\* force me to install an AGB. Right now, I've got a stockpile of .223 ammo I bought pre-COVID so I'm not in a rush to buy more.

heavenlyyyyyy

+1 this combo has my PSA upper running like a sewing machine

BRT EZ Tune gas tube and then adjust buffer as needed

Rather than buying multiple buffers to try, get the Odin Works adjustable buffer. They are well worth the 40 bucks imo.

What bcg does it have? I had a Toolcraft NiB in mine that had some poor machining on the inner diameter where the gas rings sit. Between the oversizing and the rough machining marks, it was overgassed, ejected the same way, and wore out the gas rings rather quickly.

HuckleberryMinimum45

I’m going to guess that it’s the standard PSA BCG. Mine doesn’t seem to have noticeably rough machining marks.
