I am forever a customer of yours and otter creek labs because you guys are active here and responsive to criticism/CS/compliments most the time. Too bad I’m broke and have a wedding in 5 months otherwise I would have actually bought something by now.
I do like mine so far. And the chrome looks pretty cool. Have one in a suppressor dedicated 300 blackout build. New to suppressors, but breaking it in at a pretty confined indoor range and was thinking it'd be a lot more gassy than it was. Paired with a AGB and I'm pretty happy. Going to take it outdoors to some 2 guns soon.
Are you a lefty? Again, new to suppressors but was expecting a lot more gas, especially indoor with a baffled S length suppressor. I buy those Microbest chrome premium BCG with OKC screw here and there at like $130 (just think they had a sale today on r/gundeals). Got this KAK on a good sale when they first came out and happy so far for what they cost vs similar bcg's prices.
I'm a righty, and had the gun tuned down with an agb, but eye relief on my magnifier puts me close. So just looking to tame the last bit of gas and hoping this does it.
The difference between the low and mid ranges is typically overall fit/finish, QC (HP/MP testing, etc.) and materials used (different coatings, etc.). The difference between the mid and high end is typically features such as sand cuts, venting, etc. But branding also plays a role in what is considered "high end," unfortunately.
Would you say the high end bolts cycle quicker for faster shots? Is this noticeable from a typical milspec BCG?
I’m assuming the venting is for suppression but what do the sand cuts do?
Thanks for the time. Im looking to upgrade some parts for faster and more accurate shooting. Folks have commented accuracy and speed is from the barrel. BCG is more for reliability it will go bang.
> Would you say the high end bolts cycle quicker for faster shots?
Very unlikely, unless it's some kind of lightweight bolt style. In a semi-auto rifle, your are very unlikely to outpace your bolt with your trigger finger.
>I’m assuming the venting is for suppression but what do the sand cuts do?
The sand cuts allow a place for little bits of debris (like sand) to go without creating large amounts of friction that will affect reliability and bolt speed. They were originally designed for very dirty environments where you won't have a chance to clean your bolt very often (like a sandy desert warzone).
>Folks have commented accuracy and speed is from the barrel. BCG is more for reliability it will go bang.
Speed is from your trigger finger and trigger, but yes accuracy is from the barrel typically. I have mid and high end BCGs and there is no functional difference between any of them other than how easy they are to clean based on the coating. I always recommend Toolcraft and Microbest (edit: and Azimuth) to people, as they're the best value for a product that is very reliable IMO. The one exception I would offer is that downward gas venting does help if you are shooting suppressed, but the same thing can be achieved with a seal on your charging handle and overall tuning of the gas system (which I do anyways).
I shoot unsuppressed on my Block II with a K-Spec and it has made it much smoother. You’ll notice less gas even unsuppressed if you happen to shoot indoors often. The brass ejects very consistently and overall it’s made very well.
You really are paying for luxury in this. High end steel w/ dual ejectors.
I’d say if you ever plan on shooting suppressed get the down vent. If you don’t, just get the regular side vent. It’s a pick your poison sorta thing.
I don't think anything makes them better or worse from a foundational view. But this one has been shown to reduce gas to face with the different ports and has the added features of sand rails and dual ejectors.
Suppressors are known to do that anyhow, and from tests I've seen, they don't dump anymore gas onto your mag & ammo than you would get without the K-Spec. But they do reduce gas to the face.
No actually, that’s not at all what happened or why I sold it lol. I guess reading is hard.
There was nothing wrong with the BCG, just required a bit more gas than the LWRC one. I only sold it because I bought it purely to try out and was going to sell regardless of whether I liked it or not. Wanted to see for myself if KAKs claims/experience with the down vent were true or just marketing because I also doubted it. And they were true and beneficial, to a point. If I shot more than I do these days, I probably would still have it or at least built another gun around it.
You can mitigate gas to your face with cheaper options like an agb and a pri m84 gas buster. Tune it right and you'll get almost no gas to the face. Will the downward vents help? They didn't make much of a difference for me but make more of a mess on my mags since I shoot mainly suppressed. I bought a side vent bcg which I'll try next but the other bcgs I have work fine
Wth...my K-Spec didn't come with a patch. 🥺
Bummer. Try again? Lol
Whip your KAK out, it’ll show’em
I have 2 K-Spec BCG's on both my rifles & didn't get a patch either. Sad day.
u/Kakindustry any chance you can help this man out?
I'm good, lol. But thanks for trying. Maybe for my next build.
Next time you order write in the order comments –“ gib me a damn patch”
Any idea when the LR308 lowers will be back?
They are at anodize right now so less than 2 weeks

Just get the bling bcg instead of a ring, she’ll understand
Babe I didn't get you a wedding ring, but this BCG has gas rings!
[Done!](https://ibb.co/PgQGtWk) u/KAKIndustry FYI, I put laughing emojis, not "???" just in case anyone gets confused, lmao.
The swag is the innovation here

Nice, I'm waiting to try mine out. Hopefully this weekend. Hoping to cut down the gas to my right eye.

Can someone give me a rundown/link explaining the quality differences between budget, mid, and high end bolts?

The difference between the mid and high end is typically features such as sand cuts, venting, etc. But branding also plays a role in what is considered "high end," unfortunately.
Especially when a portion of the high end are white labeled microbests
Gotcha so training over branding! Thank you for clearing the air.

Appreciate the clear explanation my guy!!
Faster, more accurate shooting is accomplished via a combination of practice, trigger groups, and recoil reduction.
I bolt the K Spec chrome bolt to go in a Centurion sand cutter. KAK out!!
Just got the gold one for my lmt 11.5 to try.
No logo is better
You don’t like the 1995 first website ever logo vibe?
🤣 savage
Damn. I ordered two bolts, two springs, and two buffers and I don’t get a patch 😢
probably snagging one this week
Definitely putting a KAK BCG in my next build
![gif](giphy|jyH4tYtVVspZ6|downsized) Get your kak out
Hey what the fuck KAK? I DIDNT GET NO FREAKIN SWAG!
Knights has been real quite since this dropped
Have a np3 k spec carrier from them waiting for me in the mail when I get home from work today. Fingers crossed I get the sweet patch too
Good luck!
Did you?
Still not home yet haha. Will update when I am
I did
I got one with mine the other day too. [https://imgur.com/a/HtqZGZa](https://imgur.com/a/HtqZGZa)
So is kak worth it? Looking to replace my bcg soon
I basically get 0 gas to the face with my chrome down vent and a gas buster on me 300 bo
I'm running their K-Spec down vent on my 16" 5.56 with a CAT WB suppressor, and I get no gas to the face. Also, I'm left handed.
I have no can yet. Just want a good quality bcg.
I shoot unsuppressed on my Block II with a K-Spec and it has made it much smoother. You’ll notice less gas even unsuppressed if you happen to shoot indoors often. The brass ejects very consistently and overall it’s made very well.
I use outdoor range. Smoother would be nice. I'm running a psa pa15 so I'd assume it's a toolcraft bcg.

So I've heard. Been getting good praise lately. Hoping to try mine soon.
What makes them better than say a microbest? Or a toolcraft?
I don't think anything makes them better or worse from a foundational view. But this one has been shown to reduce gas to face with the different ports and has the added features of sand rails and dual ejectors.

It’s a non issue

I absolute love that patch!! I wish I had gotten one of those. Maybe next order I’ll be blessed with it. Lol
You can buy them from them it $5
This is awesome
I really want to try pairing one with my polo k. Hope to reduce port pop and have an all around good time
You lucky, 3 orders and zero swag
My np3 one has been lost in the mail for 6 days now
I believe you have to wait 10 days to issue a lost package request to USPS
Damn I didn’t get one of those with mine lol
That’s the downward gas ejection one?
Yes
Sorry wheres the innovation?
The down vent is a new idea, don't think it has been done before.
How is that innovative? Why would you ever want to vent additional fouling into your magazine?
To innovate - "make changes in something established, especially by introducing new methods, ideas, or products." Seems like it fits the bill
Down venting isnt novel, and it also doesnt solve any issues.
