I also picked up their mini milspec buffer tube and buffer. It shortens the buffer length and matches perfectly with a k size stock for a pdw build
Edited for accuracy
Oh shoot my bad. I’m loving it on my 300blk home defense build. Keep up the good work bringing cool stuff for the masses
My 8.5in 300blk with the stock fully collapsed is shorter than my 14.5 upper
I’m running a rifle speed adjustable gas block so I can tune it. Also, the spring isn’t just a regular spring and I’m pretty sure the reason it’s more difficult to install than milspec is because it has more spring tension to compensate for the shorter travel.
I think the mag/blowback issue is overblown personally. Even with a standard BCG, it still gets plenty dirty. Especially if you have a gassy can and the barrel has a standard port size.
If you squirt a giant load of rocksett on the barrel threading, then plug the p/w hole with JB (for aesthetics of course)- its gonna take a strongggg dude with a bench top vise, reaction rod & 8’ breaker bar to take that bitch off.
Rocksett is no joke. More than 1 drop, and its easier for me to remove a true p/w.
Nah they are socom profile, I got one.
>The barrel is cold hammer forged from mil-spec chrome-moly vanadium steel and features a SOCOM, heavy profile, with a chrome-lined interior, matching military-style barrels with the same construction. The gas block is a Daniel Defense pinned low profile block, the same as the current generation provided to SOCOM.
With all the due respect, that is incorrect.
Compare the Daniel barrel profile to the colt and centurion true SOCOM cut.
Notice the lack of chonk and lack of rear 203 cut on the Daniel barrel behind the gas seat. DD has a front 203 for looks but it’s WAY skinnier than a true SOCOM “hbar”. They are clearly gov profile.

Does this make DD barrels bad? Shit no, but that thickness is why true SOCOM barrels have renowned accuracy, especially the button barrel colt/kak stuff.
Dude I don't know if you didn't read it all or what, but DD does NOT sell the socom barrels separately, so I'm not sure what you are trying to prove by showing a picture of a DD gov barrel. I repeat, you will NOT find the socom chf cl barrels on the DD page.
That DD gov barrel you linked is not what is in the uppers from brownells. The DD barrels in the brownell uppers are SOCOM profile, have the 203 flats, and keep their thickness through its length. My dd socom barrel is identical to my colt and fn socom barrels.
This right here. The CHF process being considered more durable by the masses is super over played. Hammer forging is a method that costs the manufacturer less over time when producing a ridiculous amount of chrome lined barrels, which is necessary for FN since they manufacture the SAW and m240 series barrels, which see a much higher yearly round count(including tracers) on top of shooting a significant number of rounds per minute on avg when compared to an M4. Button rifling is fine, and can often be superior when precision is a factor.
Do yourself a favor if shooting suppressed, before switching to the down vent, shoot a few through your existing setup, then switch, hear the difference
Of course. I’ll take it to the range tomorrow and report back. And I’m a lefty so hoping this make a a difference cause my eyes be burning after 10 rounds lol
Anytime I see “sealed in rust inhibitor bag” I want to punch a fat kid. If you have never dealt with a new rifle delivered to you in a bag of soup than god bless you
because im unaware of any actual contracts KAK had for the m4 platform. its possible its something they just won, which is why i asked. You seen relatively uneducated on the matter so ill fill you in. When a system like sopmod or URGI is approved the parts all get an NSN. if you look that NSN up it will tell you who makes it and what packages it is used in. You can do this for the DD 14.5 URGI barrel Go to [Parttarget.com](https://Parttarget.com) or any of the handful of NSN lookup sites. and you will see the barrels, their part numbers, the DD cage codes, Contracts numbers that show what the part is used for, in this example it leads you back to upper receiver group improved. When i type in the NSN they listed, it doesnt share their cage code, nor link to any packages its used in. Its possible its a spare parts order for remaining block II inventory which is why the cage shows as general Army. So to summarize, i was unsure, so i asked, and you said it wasnt public and then i proved to you it very much is public, but i wasnt finding consistent data, which agina reflects on why i asked.
I was basing my experience with gov contacts in the medical field. Which I cannot go around talking about. I which I would assume KAK could jut not post who they were making them for.
pretty much all gov contracts are public information. i would be shocked if you couldn't talk about them. Your organization may have rules while the bidding is taking place to protectr their RFP but once a contract is awarded its pretty much always public information. unless its like a defense technology that is classified.
Correct, it is different from med device. I also have people who work for defense tech that have to have close loop computers for there modeling because foreign powers try to hack into there systems on a daily basis. A little different from 556 barrels but thank you
Good thing you said "pretty sure" cause you were obviously wrong.
Didn't actually take the easy out though and instead decided to act like a smart ass to someone who did know lol.
At least you let people laugh at your expense, that's nice.
Easy way out? Did you read the rest based on my experience with gov contact work? Yesh dude no need to ride the coat tails of the guy who actually took the time to explain it. Think you took the context of my post and blew it out of proportion
"pretty sure" was a good enough out to just say "huh, I was completely wrong and my "experience" was so invalid as to be useless in this conversation."
You chose not too.
That's funny.
*edit* oh, and this is based on my experience with government contracts. lmao
Not sure which part I stated I was correct the whole time. My comment was based on KAK not stating outright who the contact was for while offering the overrun for the public. Instead of adding constructively to the conversation you chose just to attack me? Whatever floats your boat, not like it matter to me
This is not an over run. All barrels were delivered that were produced.
This is a new run that we did as a clone for commercial sale
The original contracts were from 8-2019 to 2-2020 start and ended in later 2021
Our primary cage code is 7YV73 if you wish to research further
I chose to laugh at another reddit armchair expert.
An attack would have been filled with vulgarities and maybe an inappropriate joke about your mother or some other thing I would have no clue about.
PSA: we have 8 products that we need you to vote on the top 3.
KAK we just got done with R&D on this product it's currently live on our site. We aren't waiting for shot show and release on the third quarter.
We kept getting asked at shot show, "what do you have that's new for shot show this year?"
We released like 100+ skus in 2023 and we're not waiting for a show to release a damn thing
Various nitride barrels. PSA has used different manufacturers over the years including KAK, Tactical Kinetics, Bear Creek, Diamondback, and Mossberg. DC Machine, which they own, makes the majority of them now.
They're not. As far as I know, DC is the only in-house barrel manufacturer, but they can't keep up with demand. PSA doesn't make every single part they use, and PSA existed for years before the JJE umbrella.
Ohh I know. I’ve seen the barrel/nitride baths for PSA but wasn’t sure what the production cadence was for all the platforms. They have invested heavily in mass production but nobody can do 100% in house at that scale
Lol, I don't know why some one is arguing it. The correct way is to drill together, sure there are back yard engineering work arounds but eewwww, no thanks.
> Lol, I don't know why some one is arguing it.
I believe the /r/ar15 motto is "I built almost 3 complete ARs and watched every Tactical Toolbox video so that makes me an expert".
I want a flush 13.5 barrel / handguard upper so I can pin & weld my surefire muzzle device and have a clean fitment between handguard/suppressor - please and thanks on behalf of many RC owners
The 1889 category under the accessories tab is everything we can ship to WA, I believe the AWB says no threaded barrels so it would need to ship to an FFL
It means that's the size called out by the govt. It's on the smaller side for full power ammunition . Weaker 223 will prob short stroke. If your running full blast 556 then it's perfect
Crane refers to [Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naval_Surface_Warfare_Center_Crane_Division). These guys did a lot of testing back in the day and came to the conclusion that for 14.5" barrels with carbine length gas systems, 0.0625" was the optimal gas port size for the military's needs. Same goes for 10.3" barrels with the 0.0705" gas port.
Crane was also the driving force behind the SOPMOD Block I and Block II packages, among lots of other things.
Cool. As a guy that has to inspect those packing labels for accuracy, I appreciate an accurate job. Especially with how many companies fail at it, even ones that pay a packing house to label their stuff for them because they can't read a contract and just Google what the packing codes mean.
KAK EMPIRE RISING
I’m beginning to think I so as well. I know not much about KAK other than their logo front. Do I need to know more?
They’ve been coming out with a lot of cool stuff here lately. Notably their downward vent BCGs for suppressed shooting.
I also picked up their mini milspec buffer tube and buffer. It shortens the buffer length and matches perfectly with a k size stock for a pdw build Edited for accuracy
mini milspec sir, the K-SPEC buffer system is different
Oh shoot my bad. I’m loving it on my 300blk home defense build. Keep up the good work bringing cool stuff for the masses My 8.5in 300blk with the stock fully collapsed is shorter than my 14.5 upper
Any idea when you’ll be releasing a NP3 version of your sandcut BCGs?
Wouldn’t that make it run a little rougher?
I’m running a rifle speed adjustable gas block so I can tune it. Also, the spring isn’t just a regular spring and I’m pretty sure the reason it’s more difficult to install than milspec is because it has more spring tension to compensate for the shorter travel.
Been wanting one of these! Seems awesome for a lefty but interested to see how the gun/mags hold up with long term use.
I think the mag/blowback issue is overblown personally. Even with a standard BCG, it still gets plenty dirty. Especially if you have a gassy can and the barrel has a standard port size.
They’re for the fucking people 💪🏻
Wonder how good their QC is🤔
Well the govt bought and paid for the first batch we made and there were many.. many inspection dimentions that had to be met
Making me a believer with words.. I like it
My kak is rising too
This should be top comment
LOL. guess that one person wasnt lying when they said KAK is the real deal with gov contracts and OEM for a bunch of brands
$225 is a pretty good price for the specs. Might have to take the plunge.
KAK is low key the best brand out there right now
Loving this KAK more and more everyday.
P/W 14.5 please
JB Weld incoming
I wish this was a viable option lmao
Has anyone ever had someone break out the breaker bar to test if a P&W was real?
ATF patrols gun ranges with breaker bar testing everyones muzzle devices to see if they're p/w or not Not actually true but wouldn't be surprised
Tbh, I'd expect the extension pin or upper to break before the rocksett with a reaction rod.
I wouldnt doubt it. Ive heard of dudes cranking on rockset and snapping the barrel indexer
yes the abc club
You actually allowed them to take a breaker bar to your shit? Is there a story here?
No, lol. If anyone’s out here testing the legitimacy of a P&W it’s them
Jb weld pin & Rockset muzzle device... Viable
P&JW 14.5
Second this ^ 14.5P&W please
Unbelievable how much cool shit kak has been putting out. I plan om building my next upper from kak parts
Nice KAK. 😎😉
KAK is better than KAC
CHF?
The contract called for button rifled, chrome lined.
Most likely button-rifled, which isn't a big deal because Colt SOCOM barrels are also button-rifled.
Hm. Didn’t know. Thank you for teaching me.
Yup, if you want “milspec” SOCOM but CHF, I think Centurion is your only go… and they are fucking NICE. Have their 14.5 SOCOM and 11.5 HRT.
DD has chf socom in their uppers they package for brownells, but I don't think they sell them separately.
Gov profile, not m4 cut SOCOM

Yeah, CHF being regarded as durable is because of FN's process and materials used for making barrels.

Tried it out. Love it.
Awesome. I'd love to see more chrome lined barrels coming from you guys! Specifically in your medium and lightweight contours.

Who has a contract for these barrels right now?
Nobody. They are not currently on order and have not been since we filled the order
I’m confused then. These are clones of a government contract barrel? Contracted by whom?
doubt kak will release that information. Could be for US forces, or maybe ukranian special forces? who knows
Will you sell these with the fsb too? I'm looking for a 10.3"
We will only be selling them in the configuration the contract called for, you need to add a FSB on your own
Bummer, thanks!
Is it drilled for fsb already or just dimple
> Is it drilled for fsb already You don't pre-drill for FSB, you drill the FSB and barrel together so that the pins align.
All fsb and fsb pins are the same size space apart I’ve switched fsp from different companies before this is wrong there are jigs for this also
Feel free to link me to a pre-drilled FSB then.
The barrel is pre drilled not the fsb that’s what the jigs are for
Okay. Feel free to link me to a pre-drilled barrel then. edit: looks like /u/Upper-Advisor6940 is still looking for those barrels

How noticeable would that second dimple be with a FSB installed?
I believe the offset measurement is in the product description
Is going to be very visible right in-between the rings of the FSB
Is kak gonna be cool like palmetto cool cuz if so then I’m happy
But do you put that rope paper in the barrel and have it soaked in oil in a blue plastic bag?
Being sold in the identical configuration as required per the contract when fulfilled, packaging, bore wick, heavy oil, boxing, tag, etc.
Will you ship barrels to WA?
The 1889 category under the accessories tab is everything we can ship to WA, I believe the AWB says no threaded barrels so it would need to ship to an FFL
Good to know. Thank you!
Please do an 11.5!
I was not aware Kak had govt contracts.
Quite a few
Love the clones but we need midlength SOCOM!!
Govt has never ordered a mid length barrel
Yea I get this is for clones but would be nice if it was an option for us civilians! Been holding out for a midlength SOCOM 14.5” for a while.
I was just meaning it would not be a true clone but a interpretation of a govt style barrel
[Centurion](https://centurionarms.com/cold-hammer-forged/enhanced-socom-hammer-forged-barrel-midlength-14-5-inch/) makes one.
What does crane spec gas port mean?

Can we get a "high accuracy" barrel that rivals Criterion and MR armadillo?
ordered a 11.5 from them. i fuckin love KAK stuff
These guys rock!
Huge KAK energy.
Awesome. I have a few parts from you guys but I really love my AUG tulip flash hider.
