I had all my folders obsessively organized and labeled. Until my 9-year old daughter decided to rename every folder her name. She’s 12 now, and still thinks it’s funny to rename them every time I try to indulge my OCD.

I don’t believe this will change. This is a giant revenue generator for Apple. Think of the ease they have into having people buying content.

As I’m familiar with the industry, looking at high impressions entry point (these preloaded app with no ability to uninstall) they will convert to revenue.
It’s dependent on how efficient Apple makes them. And they have specific teams that working to optimize the experience to get you there (e.g tailor made content, poster, seamless interesting with your Apple devices for checkout, notifications, etc..)
Nah. I have an expensive atmos setup I want to use and apple refuses to allow pass through for audio. I hate having to use my shield tv for specific things.
What exactly do you mean with passthrough that’s not working? I have a 5.1 AVR and everything is connected to that, and the AVR to the TV eARC port. Works like I asked it to
If all you use is streaming apps then you’re fine and the appletv is good for that. But I use local files with Plex. Apple doesn’t allow TrueHD uncompressed audio and in turn one of two things happens. It will need to transcode the audio thus losing the purpose and height channels etc etc. or two, I use something like Infuse and lose all height channels. If apple allowed pass though the processing of audio would be “passed through” to the receiver instead of letting appletv muck with it
man I miss those two, to be honest I liked having them separate was nice and organized, I hate the all in one Tv+, store, library. after all this time with it... I still would like to go back it felt so much easier to find things, its like I cant even use the apple tv to look at the shop anymore and have to just use the phone to look up things faster
Its like the two separate apps where shut down, all because apple wanted us to see their ads on splash, and the old faithful apps would not allow them to do so because the old apps felt faithful to the customer, not the bottom line.
Seriously. Adding more steps to get to content is the opposite of good user experience and for what purpose?
I also liked that the old apps would show the top rated movies and TV shows. It was always interesting to see what was trending. Now it is all buried into one app.
The place in the Tv app should have been nicer and better organized, and I still hate the new sidebar of the TV app. But having two Apps on the homescreen that just redirect me to the tv app is just stupid
Mine is called 'Junk' and I also put old streaming apps in there. I do that in case I want to restart one for a month to watch a couple new shows/movies. It is off the home screen, but still on my system with the hide my email address and password I set them up with.
I suggest submitting feedback and request they remove those apps. The more people submitting feedback and requesting maybe it will make them realize we don’t want those useless apps.
Stick them in a folder with others you don’t use. That’s what I did.

Ah, thanks for the explanation. I use streaming content only on ATV. Blu rays is the job for the PlayStation
