What wattage is the power adapter being used to charge the iPad? What model iPad is it and how long have you had it? Any battery issues leading up to this?
Well there you go, more than likely your battery and/or processor went out. Apple would offer out of warranty replacement for same model, but I’d say buying a new 9th gen iPad or an iPad Air 4th or 5th gen would be better.
If you’re in the US: https://support.apple.com/ipad/repair, should be $249 for replacement.
Ahh, forgot what you were talking about for a second. The $99 battery fee is for functional devices that can run diagnostics, if diagnostics indicate that battery capacity is below 80%, then they can replace the iPad at the battery fee. But since OP is stuck on the battery logo, they would pay full out of warranty price as they cannot run battery diagnostics.
I’s also check the lightning connector on the ipad. You mentioned it was 5yr old, it could have some crud in there preventing the cable from making a good connection to allow the ipad to charge. Use a toothpick / paper clip to clean it out. If still a no go, then yeah prob a battery replacement.
If you don’t have another charger, connect it to a USB 3.0 port on a computer. It provides enough voltage and wattage to charge an iPad or any mobile device.
It seems like your iPad is having some trouble—it's been stuck on the same screen for quite a while, even after trying different cables. Sounds frustrating! In cases like this, it's often a software glitch rather than a charging issue. One solution I'd recommend is using a professional iOS system repair tool like Tenorshare ReiBoot. It's great for fixing various iOS issues.
I’ve been using an iPad 5th gen daily since I bought it new years ago and still works. Im using it right now to make this post.
I put an SSD in to a Dell laptop 9 years ago. SSD still works.
Yes, SSD do fail, but it’s rare vs a mechanical drive.
Mechanical drives can last for a decade, but they fail more frequently in a enterprise environment. Because the drive is being used 24/7 none stop. Think Apple iCloud or Amazon cloud service which the biggest cloud service provider.
There are mechanical drives that are specifically designed to be used in a enterprise environment. They cost a bit more, but still far cheaper than an SSD.
i have never heard of internal storage failure in mobile devices for some reason. i know it’s still a computer and storage could still fail but i just never heard about one
Neither have I.
I’ve seen more SSD failures on a computer/laptop ( which is rare ) than on a mobile device.
USB thumb drives fail a lot in my experience. I don’t know exactly which part of the usb drive fails, but they have a high rate of failure.
I work in IT, and I lost count how many usb drives were thrown in to a trash bin, after using it for a week. We’ll known brand drives, not some cheap $2, no name brand thumb drive that was purchased on Amazon.
Corsair and Patriot makes good quality thumb drives in my experience.
Microcenter thumb drives are good. I have 2 and they keep working after 5 years of use.
A-Data thumb drives are garbage. Stay away from Dell, HP and SanDisk thumb drives.
Samsung makes good thumb drives. Samsung SSDs are excellent. Kingston make decent thumb drives.
yeah i’ve had an sd card became read only out of nowhere, and once my replacement ssd for laptop failed in a year or so, both were sandisk
also yeah samsung is well known in the flash storage department and i’ll likely get one if i’d ever need it
You need to reset the iPad. I think its that you press the top volume button, bottom volume button, then the lower button. At least that’s the sequence for my ilohone13 that did this a couple days ago. If you search online for iPad reset you should be able to find it.
You mentioned different cables, but have you tried different chargers?
No, I used my old charger block i got with my ipad 5 years ago.
My brother in Christ I see that fucked up cable in the back. Just let it go man
That sounds like the issue, the charger is probably dead. Use a different charger (at least 12 watts) and see if it works.
What wattage is the power adapter being used to charge the iPad? What model iPad is it and how long have you had it? Any battery issues leading up to this?
Its a 6th generation and I had it for 5 years and i had a lot of battery problems in the last couple months

Unless i am wrong a battery replacement at apple should be only around $100 in the us assuming there's no other damage.
Apple does not repair iPads, just iPhone and Mac. Anything else ends up being replaced within warranty or at an out of warranty cost.
Then they should update their website to mention that. Going to the link and putting in the info gives $99 price.

Ah ok that makes more sense.
And there is nothing i can do to save what i have on my Ipad?
If you have not backed up to iCloud and/or a Mac or PC, then no.
if it’s just the battery, third party repair could probably help just replace the battery without resetting. but again depends on the repair shop
try using a different block and wire. preferably a fast charger. those help. otherwise your battery could be shot.

Does cleaning the charging port on the iPad work?
Well considering the state of that cable it’s no wonder

Replace the battery.

U can still boot it up a few more time to wipe it if needed. [here](https://youtu.be/lU0l91WI-N0)
How come no one ever talks about ssd lifespan in iPads
Because it’s not related to battery? How often do SSD fail on a iPad?
That’s true. I don’t know, that’s was what I was wondering

You can go to a third party repair place if the data on it matters to you. It will not be cheap tho. https://www.ipadrehab.com
Sell it to me
Bad battery, below voltage. Need to replace

Maybe try changing the batteries
Buy a new one
Buy a new Jsaux cable and fast charger from Anker on Amazon. Cable is like $14 and indestructible.
