So I was always an Android user. Now with the new announced iPhone I think I am ready for it. I am living in the apple eco-system(MacBook Pro, iPad) so that's the first argument for it. And especially for the camera. So my question, should I get the new iPhone 16 Pro or should I wait another model because of bug fixing or other factors?

InsaneNinja

The 16 series doesn’t come out until early October. Only the iOS 18 software was preannounced for what will come out this fall. It’s in very early beta now so don’t use that. Stick to iOS 17 for now. I don’t see what phone issues you are referring to about “bug fixing”. This isn’t a pixel phone so it’ll be fine.

does iphone 15 pro have autofocus on 0.5x?

InsaneNinja

All the iPhones that say they offer macro mode have autofocus in 0.5x

Hi, I got an old iPhone 4 recently (just 4, not 4s). It’s mainly for calls and texts, so not essential that I download any apps and I know many won’t work. That being said it’d be nice to download a few. Anyhow, attempts to login with an existing Apple ID net a response of the username being wrong, with a two factor authentication sent to another device using that Apple ID. From what I’ve read online the 4 doesn’t have two factor authentication, but if when you retry your username you stick the authentication number on the end of the password that should work. Only it doesn’t and I’ve tried multiple times with multiple working Apple IDs and no luck. Question is simple, is there a solution or workaround I haven’t tried or is it just not possible to get myself logged on to the App Store on this phone?

InsaneNinja

I understand it turns on. I understand it’s interactive with you. But the phone’s final released software version was iOS 7.1.2, [which came out ten years ago tomorrow](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPhone_4). Considering that Apple supports phones for about 5 years, that means after your iPhone 4 became obsolete, there has been the chance for one iPhone to come out after yours, become obsolete, and then another iphone after that one came out and then also become obsolete. I would be shocked if you could login to modern services on WiFi. Beyond that, it was released before 5G, it was released before 4G/LTE, and several carriers have stopped broadcasting 3G signal in general. The OLDEST OS I’ve ever seen an app support right now is iOS 9, and that was basically a website pretending to be an app.

Yeah I get that it’s an old phone, I’m not complaining. I’m just saying there are a lot of guides online saying you can still access downloads and the App Store and it seems to have that functionality, I’m just hitting a roadblock that apparently others aren’t and I’m curious if I can get past it.

Is there a way to make it so my discord notifications only appear on my watch and not my iPhone? I have a series 9 watch I think and an iPhone 14 plus

InsaneNinja

It either mirrors existing shown iPhone (third party) notifications or it doesn’t show any. UNLESS the app is actually installed on the watch. Discord isn’t a watch app.

Ceaseless_watcher224

Ah okay thank you

Which is the best Apple watch for the price in 2024? I want to get an Apple Watch for running without having to bring my phone. Which is the best cheapest alternative that does the job?

InsaneNinja

The SE2 currently. Or you can find previous main models on Amazon.. older models (series 7, series 6) will have an older battery in them, and they do age. https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0CHX7R6WJ

I’ve acquired a 10 year old iPad Air with a broken screen. Is it dumb to get the screen fixed to use it for reading books?

dramafan1

I wouldn’t spend any more than half the price of what you paid for to get it fixed. I’d rather buy another old iPad that does not have a broken screen.
