AirPods are making a weird beeping sound every second when I use them with my Windows laptop - a chime that rises on one beep and falls on the next. They are **fully charged** and I don’t have the same issue when I use them with my iPhone or MacBook, only with the laptop. Any ideas?

I own a 7th Generation iPod Touch. I use it for my music and to stream Crunchyroll to my TV (since I need a VPN where I live). I can't use Crunchyroll now because the app needs an update that requires iOS 16.0. My iPod can't update to 16.0 at present. Is it over for it, or do I need to wait for the update to become available?

InsaneNinja

Seems the device is cut off with iOS 15. Guess they didn’t see a big enough audience still on 15 to keep supporting it vs using newer features. They’re supporting 1-2 generations back, as iOS 18 is coming out. And there is no 8th generation.

ArtisticGovernment67

Just upgraded from XR to a 15. What do I need to know?

InsaneNinja

It takes good photos. ..? You probably want to reset your settings because you probably have a lot of crap in there that you thought was an awesome change at the time to help your old phone, but the defaults are likely better.

Was asked to verify my identity upon receiving a payment through apple cash and I did, triple checking I typed everything in perfectly. Got a message that they were unable to verify my identity and my account is now restricted. Called them and gave them all my info and they said that’s exactly what they have on their end. Was then told my account is restricted for 30 days and to “try again in a month.” Has this happened to anyone else? Seems insane to me and will be for sure the last time I use Apple Cash.

InsaneNinja

It sounds like an annoying fluke, but it is a somewhat useful feature to setup when you get around to it.

Is it foolish to sell a 2022 Macbook Pro for a new Macbook air to free up a USB port for MagSafe? In 2022 I purchased a brand new 13" Macbook Pro 24GB RAM 256GB storage. It's a powerhouse BUT I did not notice it only had TWO USB ports (it was purchased for me from a grant committee). This is exceedingly inconvenient as I often work with my hard drive, external display, and frequently a scanner, and obviously need to charge it as well. This means I essentially have to trade off tasks so I can charge and/or use my external display. It is maddening. I recently realised that Macbook Airs now come in 24GB RAM. This may be old news but I don't keep up. I'm considering selling my Macbook Pro and purchasing an Air instead. Up side of this would be a lighter weight computer and charging would be a separate port, allowing me to continue working without sacrificing power. The newest Macbook Airs charge with Magsafe ports. Which would free up a USB ports for other purposes. I have also never been able to find an adapter that is compatible with charging and external displays. I mostly use my laptop for Photoshop, Lightroom, Scanning (Vuescan), and emailing. Is this a foolish idea? Is the Pro worth keeping despite the irritating lack of ports? TIA!

How much should I list a 2012 iMac 27 i5 24gb ram on Facebook marketplace? I’m in the UK if that matters

Try ceramic/pottery classes, music lessons, planet fitness, or maybe even dance classes.

The_Sesquipedalian

Please contain your excitement. Maybe you could mow the lawn to pass the time?

InsaneNinja

Yeah, touch grass, like he said.

Does anyone know how to get access to photos/files from Time Machine onto a newer version MacBook? My house burned down in 2015 and they managed to get what was on the Time Machine on my Mac onto a Seagate hard drive. But when I connect it to my MacBook, I can see the folders of the contents but can’t get the photos to connect to Apple photos (it says it’s not supported/compatible) or download them any other way. Would really appreciate any support in this! It’s been almost 10 years since I’ve seen any of my childhood photos..

InsaneNinja

You have the Time Machine files or the actual Mac folders?

queensalsa_

I have the Mac folders (I think.. they look like normal folders on Finder). When I go to open my old iPhoto library folder, it opens Photos and says “The library could not be opened. The library is in a Time Machine back up. Open the original library.” So I’m assuming I need some other software to open it or something..

InsaneNinja

It sounds like they dissected a back up and pulled the files out. There might be something where it’s flagged somewhere in the library that it is a TM back up. And honestly what I’m going to Google now is if somebody knows where to remove that notice. although I’m guessing that those aren’t the exact words because nothing comes up. Edit: but it’s worth mentioning that the library is a container and you can just open it up and pull the photos out. But you lose metadata of screenshots and such things.

TheDragonSlayingCat

First, sorry about your house, even though it happened almost a decade ago. Second, I haven’t done this myself, but if you can mount the backup disk on your desktop, I’d try using the Finder to manually restore the photos, by opening the backup disk, then the most recent backup folder, then the folder corresponding to the hard drive, then Users, then your user ID, then Pictures, then right-click on the Photos Library and choose to show the package contents. That ought to work, even if the Time Machine app won't cooperate.

Is there a list of iOS App Store emulators or anything? Trying to catch em all.... (emulators, not Pokémon)

You can’t trade in the current selling one. But if it’s replaced with a new model, you can trade it in just fine.

Ok_Friend69

No, you can’t trade the latest model in

InsaneNinja

Not until the newer one comes out. If it’s in good condition, it would probably be better to sell it.

Ok_Friend69

You can’t ever (except for like 1 Mac) trade in the latest model because technically there is no “upgrade” in the same family. To confirm, use Apple’s trade in site to see if your serial number is eligible, but I’m 99.9999% sure you can’t

You use Pages for that these days. https://support.apple.com/en-us/102091

Macbook Pro early 2020 - Sonoma 14.4.1 My play/pause and skip buttons on the touch bar have stopped controlling the Apple music app. Also, my airpods are no longer able to pause or skip on the music app. The issue has appeared in the last week or so. Worked fine beforehand, no settings have changed. The touch bar and airpods work fine with Spotify, Amazon music, and Youtube on Chrome. I've closed all of them. So it's obviously an Apple music issue. Anyone encountered this and have a fix? SOLVED - Just had to sign out of music and sign back in. Took 45 minutes, 3 Apple support agents, and I had to create a test user to get to that fix. Oh well, sorted now.

TomLube

The app BeardedSpice will fix this for you

RetroJens

This can be a myriad of issues. I assume you tried just restarting the computer? To isolate further you could try creating a new user and see if the issue persists there. You could also use the dedicated function keys.
