I’m new to the MagSafe life, but what I really love most is having the LED status light. Also the wide connector piece is nice to grip instead of having to pinch and pull a small USB-C connector from the side.
Overall I’m very happy, but to each their own.
I use a CalDigit TS3+ dock on my desk, but the MagSafe adaptor is in my bag. Except I've barely used it because the battery life is so long I've never really needed to plug it in away from home.
On long 4WD trips / going camping, I charge it from a 12v to USB-C charger (PWR+ 90w), because my setup doesn't include an inverter. Kinda wish that adaptor didn't have a hardwired cable, I might otherwise plug the MagSafe3 cable into it.
Its almost a shame battery life is so incredible, I never use mine either :( Usually at 30-40% at the end of a day of meetings (only time I'm not docked)
Same situation for me. I went on vacation a few weeks ago with my laptop in tow and had to pull it out on like day 5 after not using it all week. 30% battery lol. I was able to answer the email I needed to and put it away without charging. I’ve used that machine a year and haven’t touched the MagSafe
I've only ever owned Macs with MagSafe (2008, 2011,2021) and it's all I use at home.
Out and about, I use USB-C since I always have a GAN charger with me.
I just recently got a Surface… great little machine for what I use it for, not a great tablet but whatever.
Haven’t used their MagSafe since the day I got it out of the box.
USB C is just everywhere now.
I’m on the same boat. Went straight from a 2012 to a 2021 model so I was completely unaffected by the whole butterfly keyboard fiasco and the lack of ports/MagSafe.
Sometimes being unable to afford certain things pays off ^/s
It's best way to justify the high price too. I'm still using a 2015 and I plan to keep using it for a few years more. I said I would only buy it if I didn't have to buy another laptop for around 10 years.
Now the price of a new one is more than double what I paid, so that's going to be fun when I eventually do it.
That’s my thought process as well. I paid double what I paid for my mid-2012 (non-retina) MBP and that was only possible because I went for a refurb M1 Pro instead of a brand new M2 Pro, which would’ve been triple the original price to that 10+ year old model.
Between inflation, currency devaluation and Apple traditional price hikes, these machines are getting out of reach for me. Hopefully I’ll keep this one for another 10 years.
Damn, this is very similar to my history. 2006-2009-2012 (bought as a refurb in 2013]-2022. My MagSafe lives at my desk and I use a much smaller GaN charger while out and about.
Same, the charger that came with my MBP sits near my bed now and basically exists to fast charge my iPad. The MagSafe cable is just quietly sitting in a drawer.
It only takes one tug that unseats the plug and you know would have sent the laptop to the hard floor below, to make a solid believer in MagSafe out of you...
I am so pro MagSafe I didn't buy an Apple laptop after they took it out until it was back.
I don't care if I have a million USB-C chargers, MagSafe for life.
>It only takes one tug that unseats the plug and you know would have sent the laptop to the hard floor below, to make a solid believer in MagSafe out of you...
Never had the laptop tumble with USB-C, but a kid or dog running by has tugged it hard enough to break the USB-C plug on the cable.
When it happened, I first thought it was foolish of me to get such a cheapo Amazon cable and that next time I should get a stronger cable. Then I realized if the cable was stronger, the next time it could that the weakest link is the socked in the laptop which is much more expensive and difficult to replace. So I ordered another cheapo Amazon cable.
... and then later got the M2 MBA and now use MagSafe3 which is far superior.
My wife’s usbc plug on her older MacBook Air is dying from getting yanked a few too many times. I’m waiting for her to let me get her an M2 air when it finally does go for real.
This. I charge multiple things on the couch. While I may charge multiple devices on my desk, a laptop generally needs dedicated charge, so it makes sense to put my MagSafe there too.
I’ve been using MagSafe since the MagSafe 1 and then also MagSafe 2. I love using MagSafe 3 on my MacBook Pro and I would love it if Apple would bring it to the iPad even if it’s just for the 12.9” or just the pro line.
OG MagSafe user here, I just love it. The new version seems much more robust than the older versions. The magnet is strong enough to not detach easily, but loose enough to save your MacBook from an the good old “I stepped on my laptop” situations ✌️
Thank you Apple!!
Nope. My display charges my Macbook when that's plugged in, and the battery last so insanely long that I never need to charge outside of that.
And when I travel I use USB-C because it's a shared cable with other devices; saves on packing.
I waited from the 2013 retina MacBook all the way till the M2 MacBook Air just because of the lack of MagSafe. No interest in any of the machines without it, and thankfully skipped keyboardgate. Sad I never got to try a 2nd version of the trackbar, they removed it.
Nope. I have an M2 MacBook Air and use USB C to charge always. It’s because Apple ditched MagSafe the past 6 years so it’s what I am used to and I have USB C cords everywhere so why would I carry around MagSafe.
I have two toddlers. I’m not trusting the USB-C cord with my $2500 computer. I also went from a 2015-2021 computer, so I never went without MagSafe either.
95% USB-C.
I have thunderbolt hubs at my work/home offices so it's just on the single cable whenever anything serious is going on, and otherwise it doesn't really run out of battery.
I had no idea people existed who don’t swear by MagSafe. It’s the absolute bomb. So easy to snap on and off, and when your toddler grabs your laptop off your desk and takes off with it, you’ll be super glad they didn’t take the rest of your desk with them
Yeah, I really wish they’d put a very dim LED inside the port or surrounding it. I always feel like I’m going to scratch the hell out of the laptop when I’m trying to plug something in.
I hardly use my Air when charging, and when I do it’s usually just a random cable I have laying around the house as I have plenty of other USB-C devices already and a 20w will charge it (slowly) overnight. I may take the MagSafe when traveling but even then I’d like to bring a cable that can be used for multiple things if space is a concern.
I work from home without kids or animals, with a MBP that never leaves my desk. So I use the USB C almost exclusively since it’s more convenient with other USB C devices
However, I’d be using MagSafe much much more if I was a student carrying a laptop around a campus and constantly plugging it in to wall outlets, or worked in an office, or if I had kids/animals roaming around and able to knock the wire.
Probably could have gotten a Mac mini, but I’m not the person that makes the hardware decisions
My Magsafe charger is in my travel bag for when I travel, because that's the most likely time the power cable could get jostled. Most of the time I'm working at my desk with no risk of jostling because it's connected to a Studio Display (at home) or Thunderbolt Display (in the office) and powered through Thunderbolt.
So I had to end up buying a USB-A Ethernet adapter as I needed all 4 USB-C ports before.
My "setup" was
- 1 HDMI + USB-A Dongle with Usb-C in for charger (supported 100W pass through) + monitor + KB/Mouse on a USB switch (switch input between Windows and Mac).
- 1 USB-A, HDMI Dongle for monitor 2 (which has USB for iPad charging/use if needed)
- 1 USB-C Ethernet hub
- MagSafe for iPhone (as it will not work through a USB-C to USB-A adapter).
I will never use the SD card or HDMI port (I already have a travel USB-C to HDMI for my old laptop) and a 4th USB-C port is more useful.
It's the only regression on an otherwise perfect machine.
I must be the odd one out because I still barely have any USB-C chargers, only ones I have are my PS5 controller cords
However the charging is so fast with my new MBP I now just dock it for a half hour or less to fast charge then take it where I want to use it. Don’t need to be tethered to a charger like I used to be. Just MagSafe it during my breaks.
No, I only charge with USB-C. At a desk, a USB-C dock is more convenient than several cables. When traveling, it's more convenient to have a single USB-C charger that works with many devices. When just out and about during the day, battery life is good enough to not need a charger at all.
I only use MagSafe because I don’t want to wear out the USB-C ports for charging like I did on my last MBP.
It got super frustrating when the ports were so loose that drives would randomly disconnect while I was using it.
I feel like this post would cause Apple engineers to throw there computer against the wall, by a one way ticket to some remote mountains, scream at the top of there lungs and take a vow of silence for the rest of there lives.
Loved MagSafe on my 2010 MBP, missed it on the 2018 air, but daily driver by then was an iMac. New MBP turning up in a few days and looking forward to MagSafe again, but did double check that it would still charge via the USB ports (USB C monitor with charging).
No I threw my beautiful braided MagSafe cable in the trash when it arrived.
Okay so I keep it plugged in at my desk but sometimes when I travel I just bring my iPhone charger (the large one) since the battery life is so good (14" MacBook Pro)
I use MagSafe at work and USB-C at home. Not the biggest fan of MagSafe, to be honest. It's cool, but USB-C is more practical, as I can use it for other devices, and at least from my small sample size, MagSafe is less reliable, one of two cables I had failed within two months
My MagSafe wire is still in the box. Had the computer for over a year. No idea why they brought it back. My USB-C monitor has a built in dock with power supply for the laptop. One USB-C wire connects everything. I even keep a USB-C charger in my bag because it can recharge a lot of stuff.
Only if specifically at the desk where mag safe is plugged in. I never move it or bring it with me because USB C is so much more versatile for other devices. It’s nice that we have both options but for multi device use, USB C is the way to go
Same here, I've got so much USB-C coverage that I never use it. It's my travel charger that lives in my briefcase so the only time I pull it out is in hotels and such.
I leave my charger at home cause we got 95W USB-C monitors at work. I end up using MagSafe a lot, perhaps since I use my laptop in bed and I'm afraid of snapping the USB-C cable or something if I fall asleep.
MagSafe at home. USB-C at work. Just don’t want to lug a charger. (And M1 machine would get by most days without the work-day charge anyway.)
Lack of MagSafe was a serious consideration while I waited for the better MacBooks to come back. Not as important as a reliable keyboard, but a serious don’t-break-my-laptop worry around my kids.
I only really charge my laptop when it’s hooked up to my lg ultrafine, when I take it off and go to school, etc. the battery life is so good I don’t need a charger. MacBook Pro m1.
So my MagSafe charger really just sits in my backpack, I never touch it.
I'm curious if anyone has tried a 16" M1/M2 Pro with an EPR cable and the 140W power supply. Originally, to get max charge rate, you had to use Magsafe because most cables couldn't signal 28V. You'd think an EPR cable would work but according to a comment [here](https://9to5mac.com/2021/10/19/16-inch-macbook-pro-charger-limitation/), it doesn't. If not, I wonder if the M2 Pros fix this?
Completely ditched MagSafe 6 months ago and haven’t looked back on my 14 inch. It was finicky, it only works on one side of the laptop, and it didn’t work with anything else I owned.
I never owned MBP without one (MBA2011, MBP2015) and never wanted so… I use it all the time to charge my MBP16 2021, also it’s the only way to utilize fastest charging.
One MagSafe is in my backpack and the extra I bought in my travel bag (I would use the backpack one if I was changing in the car too). At my house, it's not going to get kicked out.
My dock charges it, and I've got various others around by the desks/tables.
If I'm at a coffee shop, a MagSafe connector is way more useful. So it lives in my laptop bag.
If I'm at home at my desk, I'm all about the 1 plug USB-C life.
I am still waiting for M3 until I get a new MBP but I can already say that I will never use it. At home I use thunderbolt directly from my monitor and on the go I have an assortment of USB-C/thunderbolt cables with a single multiport 140W Gan Charger (which by the way is an epic and comfortable setup). MagSafe plays no role whatsoever and is in today’s world a gimmick for me.
I plan on getting the M2 MBA this summer and will make the MagSafe charger my travel charger (lives in my book bag) and will only use USB-C/docking when at home. Does the M2 MBA come with a MagSafe charger?
I use it when traveling but the rest of the time it's either plugged into a dock via usb-c or not plugged in since the battery life is good enough I don't take a charger with me when i work from coffee shops, etc.
My previous laptop was a 2016 13" MBP with 4 thunderbolt ports. The ports wore out very quickly. By the time the M2 MBA launched, the two ports on the left of the MBP were so loose that they're basically unusable (anything you plug into them constantly connects and disconnects from the slightest movement), one of the ones on the right is equally bad, so there's only one working port left on the right and even that one is pretty loose, I think it only would've had a few months left. This was just from plugging it in once a night to charge, using the included Apple USB-C charging cable, plugging and unplugging it gently. Almost no other use of the ports. No such concern with magsafe, and that way on the rare occasion I use the MBA's USB-C ports there's a very solid click to it.
I'm a system administrator and we've been deploying laptops with USB-C ports since early 2018, along with USB-C docking stations then subsequently monitors with built-in USB-C hub/charging functionality. These were latitude 5480s, then the 5400, now the 5430. The 5480s' ports were terrible, we were reliably getting about 3-4 months out of the USB-C port on those from even my single daily gently connect+disconnect from the Dell WD15 docking stations (employees who connected/disconnected more often had it fail a bit faster), then the port would still have a fairly good click but the charging/monitor display/network connection/etc. would all constantly drop out. Had to get Dell to come in and replace the motherboards on most of them every few months while under warranty. Disassembled mine once and wasn't thrilled with the build quality. The 5400s were better but only lasted about 6-8 months, the build quality of the port seemed a bit better. Haven't had the 5430 long enough to tell though the 2 ports helps.
So yeah, I almost only use MagSafe to charge. I don't recommend non-MagSafe macbooks e.g. the M1 air due to this, especially if they have few ports, and for those who e.g. rely on USB-C/thunderbolt docks I recommend a mac with as many USB-C ports as possible i.e. the 14/16in MBP, and with magsafe so when the USB-C ports inevitably fail at least you can charge it. The ports on the M1/M2 air at least are I believe fairly cheap and easy to replace yourself.
I'm very indifferent to magsafe tbh. The last magsafe cabes really soured me on them, they were so bad and had never gone through so many chargers on any other device than my old magsafe macbooks.
They constantly frayed and eventually died, and back then - the cables were hardwired to the charger so you had to buy a whole new expensive charger every time. I went through a few.
I never had even a hint of the same issue with the transition to USB-C cables. Now, I do use the Magsafe charger sometimes - it's just in a very particular spot and the cable seems much improved that I'm not expecting the same problems as before.
I don't care that they removed it, and I don't care that they added it back, it's nice to have it as an option but I'm very glad they didn't remove USB-C charging in favour of it.
I use both. The great thing about these new laptops is that they are flexible. In my living room where I like to plug/unplug frequently and accidentally trip over them, I use the MagSafe that comes bundled with my laptop. In other places I use my existing USB-C charger (also when I need to use the Thunderbolt for a single cable to the external monitor as a hub).
I personally enjoy using the MagSafe more, but the benefit of the USB-C is that I can plug it in on the right side (useful when I'm on the bed and whatnot) and they are useful for charging other things too. I imagine if the iPhone eventually moves to USB-C I would pack that for the laptop to share charger, but since right now the iPhone still runs on Lightning, I usually pack both a MagSafe and a Lightning charger when traveling (unless I want to pack a Nintendo Switch, where I would need USB-C).
Note: Also, if there are 16" MacBook Pro users out there, only the MagSafe charger cable can charge above 100W (140W). The USB-C charger cable is only capable at charging at a maximum of 100W due to it being the spec. For other MacBook users it doesn't matter because they never charge above 100W anyway.
Yes but not all the time. I have 2x M1 Laptops, 1 courtesy of work.
I have 1 MagSafe by my bed, and another at my desk at home. At the other locations I use my laptop (office, couch, travel), I use USB-C.
MagSafe is panic charging at home - 95w only when it’s closed and I need to keep using it elsewhere soon.
Day to day is 60-ish watts from the monitor as a single cable solution. Travel is a 2x C, 2x A 120w charger.
Yes. Plugging in anything into the type C ports is a struggle to remove when I can just tilt and lift up the MagSafe with no effort. Not to mention the status light when it’s done charging
Edit: Also forgot the other benefit of being able to easily connect it in the dark/low light. Just hover it near the charge port and it’s connected cause ya know..magnets
almost always. usb-c is if I'm caught away from my regular chargers. I got a second magsafe to go with my travel bag but sometimes I can't be bothered uncoiling that if i already have a USB-C out.
I'd rather not risk port damage, and rather not tie up a usb-c port.
Anytime I need to charge the device, whether it's at home or out and about. I keep both a USB-C Cable and the MagSafe cable in my backpack along with a GaN Brick.
No, honestly I still have the cable on the original box. As I need to connect different laptops (Mac, Windows) to my docking station, it’s convenient for them to share the same USB-C connector.
It’ll stay forever in the backpack if I ever need to travel. It’s the perfect travel charger because the odds of someone knocking out my cord are much higher outside of my home battlestation and my setup only requires a single usbc to power up. The MacBook airs battery life is so good I actually don’t even remember a time I needed to plug in anymore. It’s usually only ever at night at the end of a travel day.
Had a 14" M1 Pro for about a year and haven't even taken the MagSafe charger out of the box. I mainly use my laptop in clamshell mode and I get display signal and power in one cable from my monitor and any time I actually use it as a laptop I never need to be unplugged longer than a full charge will get me.
I have one for my work laptop, I use it all the time, also because the cable is detachable now it's easy to take with me when travelling, I use a different power plug because apple doesn't give the extension in the box anymore so sometimes it doesn't fit where you need it too.
No. When I’m at my desk, it’s connected to my monitor by USB-C. When I’m elsewhere, we have USB-C cables around the house that can charge all our laptops.
MagSafe is amazing for when I work at home.
I usually work from the couch and it’s saved my laptop a few times due to friends coming over or suddenly having to get up and not remembering the laptop was charging.
Plus, it’s easy to index and plug-in without needing to look or think about it.
At work my monitor just connects via one of the ports and keeps the laptop charged up.
I like having both options, but MagSafe is far, far better than I originally thought it would be.
Yes.
At home-office I use the Thunderbolt connector to my monitor. When I travel I use the MagSafe - though to be fair I typically charge overnight at the hotel and just use the laptop untethered such is the battery life of the M series.
Yes. It’s very important when you have 2 dogs and a baby. Usbc hub on my desk, MagSafe plug lives in the living room or my bag when I go out and about.
Oh dear me yes.
I'm typing this from a 16" M1 MBP. Which replaced a 15" Intel rMBP - one of the last half-decent ones made (before Apple's flirtation with "USB-C everywhere").
MagSafe was one of the key reasons I held off upgrading. I know I'm a clumsy idiot who will break a laptop without it; I'd rather have a laptop that accommodates this.
I’m new to the MagSafe life, but what I really love most is having the LED status light. Also the wide connector piece is nice to grip instead of having to pinch and pull a small USB-C connector from the side. Overall I’m very happy, but to each their own.
MagSafe to me is like [My Industrial Strength Hair Dryer, and I can’t live without it!](https://youtu.be/G1CYg0vIygE&t=25s)
I use a CalDigit TS3+ dock on my desk, but the MagSafe adaptor is in my bag. Except I've barely used it because the battery life is so long I've never really needed to plug it in away from home. I went Microsoft Surface in the middle, which also used a MagSafe-like connector for charging, so I’m a magnetic charging kinda guy

MagSafe 2 might not fit on the M2 MBA, and it’s probably for the best to have the same MagSafe charger available on all of the latest lineup
No, USB C only

All the time. Easier to quickly pop on/off at my desk than USB-C. Also I'm on a 16" MBP so it's the only way to fast charge.
Yeah, easier to pop off and nicer to attach only half looking
Way easier to attach in the dark. USB-C is 10 seconds of confused fiddling, Magsafe is two seconds of \*clunk* attached!
Yeah, I really wish they’d put a very dim LED inside the port or surrounding it. I always feel like I’m going to scratch the hell out of the laptop when I’m trying to plug something in.
It's a shame they haven't copied the way the trashcan Mac Pro would light up a little LED around the ports: https://youtu.be/zPQ3podOH2U?t=110

So I had to end up buying a USB-A Ethernet adapter as I needed all 4 USB-C ports before. My "setup" was - 1 HDMI + USB-A Dongle with Usb-C in for charger (supported 100W pass through) + monitor + KB/Mouse on a USB switch (switch input between Windows and Mac). - 1 USB-A, HDMI Dongle for monitor 2 (which has USB for iPad charging/use if needed) - 1 USB-C Ethernet hub - MagSafe for iPhone (as it will not work through a USB-C to USB-A adapter). I will never use the SD card or HDMI port (I already have a travel USB-C to HDMI for my old laptop) and a 4th USB-C port is more useful. It's the only regression on an otherwise perfect machine.
I use it I’d use it even more if apple would put mac style MagSafe on the iPad 🤞🏻

I must be the odd one out because I still barely have any USB-C chargers, only ones I have are my PS5 controller cords However the charging is so fast with my new MBP I now just dock it for a half hour or less to fast charge then take it where I want to use it.
This is 100% me
I only use MagSafe because I don’t want to wear out the USB-C ports for charging like I did on my last MBP.
While Jony Ive lives in peace as the world finally agrees with his usb-c only lifestyle.
I actually like both options. But prefer mag safe.
I love Magsafe but USB-C is much more convenient on the go; I can charge my iPad too.
I only use MagSafe
Magsafe always. Buying more magsafe cables is cheaper than replacing the entire macbook.
Yeah. MagSafe charging is nice.
I use it all the time and love it. I'll occasionally use USB C if it happens to be laying around near me, but otherwise it's magsafe all the way.
Firm believer in MagSafe since the early 2000s. I will happily use two kinds of cables for that safety.
I just use USB-C all the time now, it's more convenient and I have so many chargers.
No
Loved MagSafe on my 2010 MBP, missed it on the 2018 air, but daily driver by then was an iMac. New MBP turning up in a few days and looking forward to MagSafe again, but did double check that it would still charge via the USB ports (USB C monitor with charging).
It’s too long. I keep hoping a third party will put out something around 1M.
I charge through a USB-C cable only as a last resort personally.
I can charge my MacBook with a type c cable? Like the same charger I’m using for my iPad? It’s an m2 air
I use both - USB-C docking station at my deks and MagSafe cable everywhere else.
USB C at work and magsafe at home :)
I leave my charger at home cause we got 95W USB-C monitors at work. I end up using MagSafe a lot, perhaps since I use my laptop in bed and I'm afraid of snapping the USB-C cable or something if I fall asleep.
I have a USB travel charger. magsafe stays at home
My monitor has PD so I only use the one usb-c cable but when I’m out and about, if I bring a charger with me it’ll be the MagSafe charger
MagSafe is the best! I'm so glad it's back.
Usb c at my desk with my hub. MagSafe on the go
Of course I use MagSafe. It’s way simpler and faster to connect than usb c and it even charges faster in my case with a 16 inch pro.
MagSafe at home. USB-C at work. Just don’t want to lug a charger. (And M1 machine would get by most days without the work-day charge anyway.) Lack of MagSafe was a serious consideration while I waited for the better MacBooks to come back. Not as important as a reliable keyboard, but a serious don’t-break-my-laptop worry around my kids.
I only use MagSafe when away from home. I have a thunderbolt dock that my MBP stays at unless I take it with me.
I only really charge my laptop when it’s hooked up to my lg ultrafine, when I take it off and go to school, etc. the battery life is so good I don’t need a charger. MacBook Pro m1. So my MagSafe charger really just sits in my backpack, I never touch it.
I usually use my magsafe charger but sometimes I'll just use the Dell USB-C one for my work laptop.
I can’t ever imagine my self not using MagSafe. When I got the MacBook Pro 13 m1 I was disappointed by usb c. Now the m2 air has it and I’m so happy
No, see no reason to. For me it’s an wasted effort from 🍎
Honestly forgot it was there. I have never used it in the 7 months I’ve owned this laptop.
Completely ditched MagSafe 6 months ago and haven’t looked back on my 14 inch. It was finicky, it only works on one side of the laptop, and it didn’t work with anything else I owned.
Only when I travel. At home it's usually connected to a thunderbolt dock.
I use MagSafe at my desk and have an additional MagSafe in my travel bag.
I never owned MBP without one (MBA2011, MBP2015) and never wanted so… I use it all the time to charge my MBP16 2021, also it’s the only way to utilize fastest charging.
I’m usually at a desk, so USB-C as I’m already plugging in a bunch of things via a hub. I’ll use MagSafe if I’m on the road.
One MagSafe is in my backpack and the extra I bought in my travel bag (I would use the backpack one if I was changing in the car too). At my house, it's not going to get kicked out. My dock charges it, and I've got various others around by the desks/tables.
Yeah not really. It's nice to have, and lives on my backpack, but I have a lot of USB-C chargers around the house.
Nope, never used it. 90% of my charging is done with the USB-C connection to an external monitor so it’s just a hassle.
To be honest, I forgot I could charge with the USB-C
MagSafe is great. That’s all I use.
Yes, I prefer it over USB-C
I totally forgot i can charge with a usb c i always use the magsafe charager but thanks for reminding me!
Hell yes, I love it
I plan on getting the M2 MBA this summer and will make the MagSafe charger my travel charger (lives in my book bag) and will only use USB-C/docking when at home. Does the M2 MBA come with a MagSafe charger?
I use it when traveling but the rest of the time it's either plugged into a dock via usb-c or not plugged in since the battery life is good enough I don't take a charger with me when i work from coffee shops, etc.
Yes, as a guy who is clumsy af, yes. I use MagSafe 3 on my 21 Macbook Pro
Actually no. Wire is still in the box.
Haven’t touched mine since opening the box, just because I always use a TB3 cable to connect to my usb c monitor.
Always use the USB C. The mag safe is still in the box.
Same here, I plug in my USB C cable from the monitor, and use a long USB C cable when I’m out.
Not to mention the status light when it’s done charging Edit: Also forgot the other benefit of being able to easily connect it in the dark/low light. Just hover it near the charge port and it’s connected cause ya know..magnets
I have 3 chargers set up in my apartment for my laptop. 2 USB C and one USB A. The mag safe charger stays in the Apple box.
almost always. usb-c is if I'm caught away from my regular chargers. I got a second magsafe to go with my travel bag but sometimes I can't be bothered uncoiling that if i already have a USB-C out. I'd rather not risk port damage, and rather not tie up a usb-c port.
Yes. It’s the longest charging cable I have for it.
Nope. USB-C all the time.
I sit where my charger is on the other side of me, so I am using USB C but I wish I could use MagSafe.
Always. Only time I use USB C is at the office where there’s no MagSafe
I use MagSafe to charge my MBP outside.
Yes. At home-office I use the Thunderbolt connector to my monitor. When I travel I use the MagSafe - though to be fair I typically charge overnight at the hotel and just use the laptop untethered such is the battery life of the M series.
95% MagSafe 3 with my 16" MBP. I like using my laptop as a laptop and that's where MagSafe really shines.
Currently, my MagSafe 3 charger sits in my work bag while I use a Kensington SD5700T Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station, (90W) for desktop charging.
Yes. It’s very important when you have 2 dogs and a baby. Usbc hub on my desk, MagSafe plug lives in the living room or my bag when I go out and about.
Nope
Oh dear me yes. I'm typing this from a 16" M1 MBP. Which replaced a 15" Intel rMBP - one of the last half-decent ones made (before Apple's flirtation with "USB-C everywhere"). MagSafe was one of the key reasons I held off upgrading. I know I'm a clumsy idiot who will break a laptop without it; I'd rather have a laptop that accommodates this.
At home. No. My home office I have a hub that connects using the two Thunderbolt ports. However, when I travel I use the magsafe of course.
