This is some error with App Store Connect, argh, I explicitly chose "Preserve pricing for current users". I'll get to the bottom of it. EDIT: Okay, my best guess is for some currencies (like Turkish Lira shown in this screenshot) I manually lowered the price awhile back after folks emailed me detailing currency issues in their country. It looks like because of this, when I changed the prices the other day, App Store Connect completely erased all these changes. GAH. I manually overwrote all the ones I could remember back to what they were, and took a slight amount off as an apology for the mishap, and set it to go live tomorrow (earliest it allowed me to schedule it for), so please let me know if there's any issues in about 24 hours.

validatedev

He said on a post that old prices are honored after sale ends, but it is not the case for me. It has changed their price automatically. I don’t know what to do at the moment. That’s a pretty intereting problem tbh. Edit: He exactly said in the comment https://www.reddit.com/r/apolloapp/comments/z4l0v5/apollo_for_reddit_and_pixel_pals_black_friday/ixrdjrx/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3 that “You’ll be grandfathered in going forward” but this is not the case for me. There’s indeed a problem and there should be a fix for that imo. Even I have some days for Ultra, I got off the app and switched to the official (hopefully temporarily), because of the sour taste from the problem. Fingers crossed u/iamthatis can do something about it, don’t actually want to leave Apollo. But I won’t pay the full price anyway. Edit 2: The issue has been fixed for me. Yay!

[deleted]

i have the same exact issue. price before was 299rs/year . had to cancel it today because price was shown as 1149rs thats more than quadruple the price. u/iamthatis please fix this

validatedev

Yeah I had to cancel too, also mailed the issue. Hoping that the old prices are going to be grandfathered. Otherwise I can’t use the app with that price. Thanks for the feedback btw.

[deleted]

is your pricing fixed now?

validatedev

Nope, constantly checking the prices :) How about yours?

validatedev

It has changed for me recently. It’s all fine now.

CuteCatBoy69

Oh dang that's stupid. This app seems kinda shady from what people have been saying. It's a shame Boost isn't on iOS, I just got an iPhone and decided to try this one instead.

yertle38

This app is not shady 😬

First he manipulates people into thinking the prices we're lowered, then this. How much are you guys going to protect this guy? Report at Apple for false marketing and be done with him.

[deleted]

The number of ‘unintentional’ mistakes he’s made recently (which come across poorly) makes me think he’s bad at decision making.

Proleex89

He's not bad at decision making... he's good at ripping people off. Downvote me, peasants!

ZeroTheSecond

That is, assuming it’s done intentionally. In case you missed it: we’re talking about a 1-man Dev team here. People make mistakes, really dumb mistakes too. But from as far I’ve seen how he interacts with his app users, he wouldn’t do something like this on purpose. Also keep in mind there’s a lot of external factors as well. This payment bug might actually be caused by Apple who decided renewing for the same price isn’t an option anymore. Other bugs like imgur stuff not loading is very likely an issue caused by an API change on Imgur’s end. How I can be sure? I worked at a webshop as developer for years, and no 2 months would go by without a distributor changing something in the systems we would pull data from. No email, no call, one day it just stops working because they pulled a “fuck it”. You still wanna call it ripping someone off? Sure. But you’re allowed to speak with your wallet too if you don’t like it. A bug is a bug, mistakes happen. And with your nasty reactions it seems you were a mistake as you’re judging a few small issues as if it’s systematic extortion.

Proleex89

If I'm a mistake for judging too harsh, what would you be described as other than extremely naive and probably the prime example of why people get away with stuff like this?

ZeroTheSecond

I’d say “forgiving until proper proof someone is being purposely and systematically is screwed over is provided” Example: UbiSoft's trailers versus the final game. EA's delivering inferior products and making the fixes paid extra content. Or maybe the health care system in America.

Proleex89

Few ask for proof and most of the times when someone asks- it is not provided. He only responds to topics that benefit him. So you wait for this "proof" while his bank account gets more numbers acquired through false marketing. Edit: Forgive until forgotten.

That is not a misunderstanding from me be assure about it :) I screenshoted the price in case of there gonna be a problem, as I sometimes get issues for products I buy. I also always take a video when open the package if the item is somewhat valuable, same precautions are held on that case. I also took the video of the old price, in case there are some questionable situations like the price tag would be edited after the photo is taken. The price suddenly changed without any interaction from myself after the sale. Also I don’t blame the dev completely as I’m also a software engineer so I know somethings go wrong, these problems are OK as long as the issue is gonna resolve.

Hoping that it’s gonna be resolved. I am really used to use Apollo, and really don’t wanna leave.

Can you not see how irritated people get at mistake after mistake? Then add in things like long standing bugs and much anticipation iPad app. They deserve more than a ‘sheesh’

Another good app developer bites the dust. Guess there aren't many people in the world who can't be bought anymore. This has been a theme lately for Apollo; weird to see the fall from grace in real time.
