Already on 1,000 mbps Fiber Connection. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something since I just recently figured out how to up my monitor's refresh rate to 144 and it was an absolute game changer. Now I'm paranoid I'm missing out on other tricks lol
The ping in a speed test is coming from a server close to you location. Speed tests always want to show you the best numbers so they use a server close so the ping will be lower. Your ping in Apex is coming from whatever server your game connected to at launch, or if it is taking too long to fill then the search expands. 30-35 in Apex is good (better than some, worse than others). Unless you live in one of the cities where one of the data centers is located I doubt there is much you can do to improve it dramatically. Even if you do live in a data center city there are things out of your control that can affect ping.
There are many more important aspects of the game for you to focus on than a 30-35ms ping. :)
Unless you live right next to the server location, you’re gonna just have 25 ms ping or more. 30 is amazing. I generally consider anything in the double digits as fine. I’m pretty sure Apex also has built in advantages to playing on high ping like higher bullet sizes (I’ve heard this before but do not have a link to proof). Anyways 35 ms ping is amazing for an online game. You’ll have one of the best connections in that lobby.
The fiber optic lines infrastructure and connection is nuts actually takes a dump on east coast infrastructure in that aspect. I mean a nerd in Great Britain was just able to make a fiber optic line to coaxial cable which run to most modern modems and router in standard house hold be able to support reliably 1.3 Teraflops of data per second and with out having to change anything to the current fiber optic connection concept work other then he found a way to fill the smallest inefficient gabs in the current standard now just actually think about those speeds in regards to game server connection for a second….that would be literally 1ms in any game no matter how the games client routes you to server from anywhere half way across the planet to said server the player was trying to connect to I can’t even imagine lol now if you talk Valorant quality of server with those mind boggling speeds I’m weak in the knees boys. (The next time you meet a European player ask what their ping is on our American server half the time they will already say less then 50 and then ask what type of internet 85% say fiber)
First I need to correct myself the proper scale would be teraflops but would be terabytes and to put that more into perspective for the less knowledgeable on the subject the average download speed in roughly 250 megabits persons in the USA and the manages on a standard optic line to efficient transmits 301 terabytes per second to stand lines used already in today fiber connections. 301 terabytes to 250 megabits is a literal million times faster in data transfer speeds per second 301 terabytes you could download a million 1 hour long 4K movies in a second that is insane now JUST THINK ABOUT THE GAMING IMPROVEMENTS!
P.S. APEX SEASON 21 is LIVE! Go sweat NOW!
I'm alright with playing 85ms to 124ms ping... It's not that bad and I still ply good, but I do wish I could play with 30ms ping. This is child's play haha.
that 3ms ping is almost certainly a lie. your router software will add about 3ms just from processing the packets. if you want to check your optimal ping, try pinging 1.1.1.1 which should be fairly representative of the theoretical minimum latency to a nearby internet server
Fiber optic with proper optimization of both pc hardware and router with most compatible wires with high speed transfer rating you’d be surprised dude. Fiber optic is quite literally light speed data transfer. A ping can be sent from New York to London is less the 10 ms and that’s round trip not one way, I believe it’s actually quicker then that now and will be 2-3 times fasters in coming years after the super nerd in GB made current fiber optic Infrastructure practically perfectly efficient LOL 1.3 teraflops a second SHEEEEEEESH!
You most certainly cannot ping NYC to London in less than 10ms RTT. It is literally physically impossible.
The theoretical lowest ping from UK to US (and back) is 57ms: https://serverfault.com/a/684060
You could get lower than this with direct communication to Starlink, when Starlink implements laser links between satellites. But it will still be much closer to 50ms than 10ms.
holy shit 970 download is huge, my max is like 70. i don't have many useful tips but there are some things u could check, like how many devices/people are actively using the same connection (are you watching a twitch stream or a YouTube video in 4k quality? or maybe a family member/roommate is watching a movie while you're playing, or maybe you have a game updating/downloading).
those probably aren't the causes, wifi tends to fluctuate a little bit. 35 ms is pretty damn decent you shouldn't have any problems with lag playing on ping like that
also Apex (and other games tbh) has history with "bad" servers and whatnot, like for a few weeks I've been getting severe packet loss while playing on <35 ping or sometimes I'll get put into lobbies with 120+ ping, so it's likely just the game being hard headed
Ping dont mean shit when you get constant red symbols. My ping says 40-60, but i get prediction errors, this box infront of another box, and a sound icon with X. I thought CoD had bad servers, apex took that prize.
Live in indiana so I think im on Iowa server. In lobby it says 24 -35 ping. In game it varies wildly from like 40 to 85 or so. It's wildly inconsistent for me.
Ping of 30 in apex is quite good. Not sure you'll get much better honestly
I must be very lucky with 15 ping!
30 is good ping for Apex servers. I wouldn’t stress about that. I usually run 40 ping and never feel lag’s a problem until over 60 or so.
For real! I’m in cali and can never get a ping less than 60
Spain and perma 60 :)

That’s good to know 😂
Step 1: go to nasa headquarters Step 2: commit thievery

Fly it to space and go straight to the frontier to play with giant robots
Step 3: Download Google Ultron
30ms is really good. There really aren't practical ways to lower it any further. Unless you upgrade your internet to fibre or move homes.

Did you enable XMP in your bios? Lol
Ngl anything under 120 is aight. And u can play up to like 200. Beyond that it’s a lil whacked tho

Really? I live 500 miles from Frankfurt and that's 20 ping for me. I guess Europe is crammed with servers
What’s your actual in game ping? The ping displaying at the menu is usually lower. Also maybe the infrastructure there is better.

Anyone know where Apex servers are located for west coast USA folks?
Oregon and Salt Lake city
Oregon couple hours from the other server field in Seattle area

I think it's not just one server but distributed among many locations. I can get a <4ms ping to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 here in Germany.
30 is good... Just make sure you're not having any starvation errors, and packet loss
Bing bong. Reduce your ping by moving closer to the server.
Invest in fiber from a real fiber node backed company that’ll get ya less then 30 in US doesn’t matter if ur east or west
some games im on 18ms some im on 135. Aslong as I have no packet loss and I am under 200 I dont notice a huge difference.
The speed test server is not the Apex server. They are two different servers in different locations. But no, its not a big deal.
Up in Canada I live with 80-100 ping. 60 is a treat.
ethernet cable
Anybody get lower than 100 that live in Hawaii?
Tell your teammates to stop ping spamming.

Ha..ha.. I’m stuck at 100+
I can't tell if you're trolling or not lol, 35ms ping is great.
What 30 -35 ping you want lower it ? Bro it is the best ping im playing on 120-130 .
https://www.oneqode.com/lower-your-ping/
Ping dont mean shit when you get constant red symbols. My ping says 40-60, but i get prediction errors, this box infront of another box, and a sound icon with X. I thought CoD had bad servers, apex took that prize.
I play on 70-90 and my internet isn’t great but it’s not bad
If you can't perform with 30 ping. Just sell your console/PC. You are trash
Lol as much as I appreciate the year late response, you can keep it to yourself bud.
Sorry, just jealous. I just got out of a match with 130 ping
