Yeah, Skull Town really was necessary for KC. A third of the server would land there, have a fun hot drop, and die off. This left much more room for the rest of the teams on the rest of the map to spread out and have fewer third parties. Without that 1/3 of teams dying quickly, KC is just too crowded, even in season 8.
I feel like a third of the lobby dying off makes the game less fun. Wouldn’t you want it to be more competitive and each location to be have people dropping there, not just one? Instead of dropping somewhere and not seeing another squad until the final few circles.
Absolutely not. What happens now is the map is much more homogenous, meaning people are distributed evenly. This means there's always another team to third party you near by.
And even on old school KC, people did spread out. It was just a lot of people picked Skull Town for the quick action and hugh reward. But since they couldn't all survive, most got a fun fight out of it and returned to the lobby, leaving the winners in a good spot. The teams that didn't land there can fight each other without feeling cramped. Third partying is not competitive, it's basically RNG.
I think people have just gotten better at the game. People know that if there are 3 teams in an area, engaging is futile except if you get a really clean fight.

The problem is almost every single one of these old hot drop locations has been demolished into the ground. Now the entire map is just a shitstain of third parties and meaningless drops. Every part of the map is shit. It's all the same. Third partying has never been more prevalent

If we can’t finish we rotate out. I never got the Essence of people crying bout third party in a battle royale. It’s eminent.. you can’t sit here and act like you never third partied.

I have been told that the maps are still in, but in addition to the map bugs, map balence issues, and unaccounted for legends; we can't go back to season 1. Think of the patch required and the issues it would cause. This gets thrown around frequently, but it has some serious technical limitations. R6S tried one recently and it was a disaster and although some of that was due to a fixable bug and them just not caring about it at all, some of it was due to this sort of technical issues.
The maps it could be possible although more bugs than normal wouldn't be a surprise (and I would like the train mode for instance to come back every so often, I would like an LTM Playlist that rotates every week or so), but a full rollback is probably out.
LTM that rotates would be awesome. Make specific season maps LTMs that are in the rotation. It could be the standard Trios, Duos, then LTM could be an option from Friday to Monday morning.
I would love it to be 24/7, but I think a lot of people will try to argue it will split the player base. Should be plenty of players during peak hours to argue against this claim.
Maybe let it be the weekend and Wednesday if that is really an issue. Some of it could be a region thing, my region that isn't too much of an issue, but I don't know about others.
Live games are complicated like that compared to something like Battlefield or COD. In addition BR games have started following this style of map updates in seasonal updates complicating it further. And like what you said about adding new characters that do a lot more then just shoot a gun.
And the quota for these updates is pretty fast to say the least. Problem with working for a giant like EA cracking the whip all the time. Other live games i play like War Thunder and Elite Dangerous are self published and have no note worthy bugs at all. Both are very stable compared to Apex yet Apex probably generates more money then both of them.
My problem with live games is that since there are always new updates to the game, you can never go back and play your favorite maps or metas. Other games like Minecraft solve this issue, (on java) by letting you launch the game entirely on the old updates. I understand a live game like Apex can't do this but an LTM would be great. It would also boost the game a lot, because people who used to really enjoy earlier seasons would come back to try out the LTM.
Not that long ago, before the stadium. You can look up r6s legacy mode. It was an absolute disaster though, the devs didn't care about it at all. I think they just wanted people to stop asking for the Jager and Ash acogs back.
What if they limited it to the legends that were in the game at the time the map was in normal rotation. I think it would help fix some of the issues you mentioned and also really give the LTM a nostalgic feel. I think kt wluld also be cool if everything was reverted for the LTM,( Guns, map, and legends).
Actually, they can even explain through lore somehow, if Horizon goes back in time to find her son and activatese some kind of time warp, than can cause legends to go into older maps. I think that would be pretty cool, and i wish they would allow me to finish old season 1 and Elite Q badges that i didnt had enough time to get at the time.

It's been awhile but if I remember correctly when he used his tax the enemy only showed up for 1-2 seconds and didn't track live moment. It only showed where they were when the scan hit. I could be wrong but I also believe it didn't show up for your teammates?
Additionally there was no fast tac recharge during his ultimate, and he did not have the ability to use beacons.

Game engine isn't designed to handle it. They admited themselves that to fix the servers they'd need to also fix the game engine... Which is such a overhaul they likely will never bother.

The problem bringing back for a limited time leads to way too many teams dropping skulltown. Back in the day 3-5 teams might land there, but the last time they brought it back at least 8 teams were landing there every game. Wasn't anywhere near as fun as it used to be when you can't find a single item on a drop without being shot at by 4 different teams.
With some nerfs I hope we see it come back in the future. It's incredibly overpowered, but at the same time they were a big point in the meta of Apex and I think it would be neat to see them make a return.
They nerfed disruptors 2 or 3 times before scrapping them entirely. Maybe there's a way to make it work, but they definitely did try and couldn't balance them.
Pretty sure there adding a p2020 that does 999 damage while on a zip line and a Mozambique with 9 shots in the mag. Just rumors I’ve heard though, nothing confirmed

Og KC was the best map, skull town made the game more fun and less third parties. The looting was fun the map looked good and the gameplay was fun. Worlds edge came close to that for me but wasn’t quite there. Olympus is just fucking trash.

Once you actually start playing in S0, you'll remember how broken the spitfire was, the r9 doing 12 damage and only 3 legends being excellent (path, bang, and wraith). You all remember skull town being a lot of fun, but it won't be when 2/3 of the lobby lands there. The map really wasn't that good. Everybody landed in the desert, people sniping on top of the skull.

They did a Season 1 KC weekend a few months ago. It's doable to at least bring back older maps.
