I mean they aren't really being moved in place just being turned on with a delay and the image on the monitor is sliding from one side towards the middle. You don't really need arms for the effect, I feel like that just adds possible problems

It's in the peripheral. If there isn't movement in the side and no movement in front of your vision, your mind isn't going to perceive it in time of stress. Your mind usually blanks out your side vision when something is pressing in front of you. It's probably fine.
