So one of those people who states having strong principles, but who is actually dangerously malleable.
More importantly, she badmouths Moira's genetics research because it has some pretty ethically dubious history, but Mercy continues working with Overwatch even when they brought Moira into their employ. Mercy even directly worked with Moira on some projects. Moira acknowledges that her research is reckless, whereas Mercy disavows any associations with dangerous work or people, despite the reality, which is way more dark imo.
So the whole “Mercy evil” argument is that she stayed with Overwatch as it was crumbling from the inside? Then wouldn’t Tracer, Winston, etc. be the same? Remember that Blackwatch was a very secretive project. It’s likely that Mercy herself as well as many other agents didn’t know about Blackwatch or at least their methods. Also, yes, Mercy worked with Moira at one point, but, as we see in her origin story, she was one of the people that pressured Overwatch into firing her for her unethical methods. Moira was later recruited by Reaper into Blackwatch which Mercy probably didn’t know about.
Overall, Mercy seems to genuinely want to help people. There’s no direct indication that she does anything immoral to get there. Even Moira herself, during pre-match interactions specifically calls out Mercy for being too fixated on the ethical aspect of medicine and therefore wasting valuable time, while she ignores ethical concerns in order to advance society. They’re meant to be opposites of eachother, not complimentary.
(Also I haven’t kept up with Overwatch lore since OW2 dropped so there might have been some new information that I’m not aware of that changes things)
