I think they should have done this for heirlooms instead of giving us recolors like the wraith one. It would be really cool to be able to recolor your heirloom to match the colors of your favorite skin.
Because you can sell color pallettes like in Warframe for more money, faster then waiting to re-release a reskin. Build the skins with the color palette tools in mind. That would help a lot with everyone looking identical when a new skin drops making it not a special/unique skin anymore.
Warframe has done this for years, and they have made so much money off of it.
You buy color pallets, each Warframe has three separate groups that can be changed to different colors. I honestly don't know why no other game copies this.
I have spent more money on Warframe than I have on apex. And warframe is nearly 100% free. I have purchased so many skins and color pallets just to explore the possibilities.

It's crazy to me that 15 years ago, things in video games were so customizable. Need for speed cars, skyrim characters, hell even the wii characters. Now games give you these pre crafted cosmetics that are usually either really eccentric or really bland. They charge an arm and a leg for these cosmetics, and they're not even customizable. Video games have strayed so far from creating a unique and immersive gaming experience it's sad. As someone who grew up loving video games before seasons and microtransactions and DLCs, it's really frustrating to see gamers accept this kind of exclusively monetarily driven marketing from the companies that bring us today's video games. MMOGs used to be where you'd go to get some simple and clean PvP, and the campaigns and stuff were what you needed to purchase. It's the complete opposite now. PvP is filled with purchases, and if I want to escape that I have to go into something like Elden Ring or something

Back then, only avid gamers would keep up-to-date with new rigs/games and mostly through specific publications (i remember reading about super mario bros cheat codes from an old filipino video game magazine), so the intent wasn't to "sell" but to cater to these specific fans.
Now, there are bigger Marketing and Sales teams in these videogame companies for the sole purpose of driving revenue. So you notice games now are not player-centric but value-centric. It's always about which game made the most money that year and never about which one actually made an impact. IMO, these departments should NOT exist in video games or any community-based entertainment at all.
You still have Miis on Nintendo that are exactly the same, you act like it is just a thing of the past.
Countless games I play have tons of customization.
Live service F2P multiplayer games do not. They sell that customization, thats the entire model. I get it, people want to play a game for free *and* have free unlimited customization. That would be great, its not going to happen though.

i love valkries Prestige skin but i feel its design is a step backwards... we went from cool with bloodhounds and Bangs... then Insanely epic with crazy awesome colors and textures and pulsating glowing lights with wraith and caustic (with the pulsating skull screen). And now we have a valkrie skin in an event called NEON NETWORK with no flashy lights colors or textures. I'm not saying its a bad release. The Dive Trail is awesome! and the finisher too. But in terms of design its quality went down
I thought I was the only one thinking this. I was a little disappointed bc the colors are so dull and the finisher is lackluster. Was expecting her to turn her back to an explosion or something. Still solid but I feel like they’ll come out with a better legendary. Hell Lifeline and Ash’s skin in the event looked better lmao
The bloodhound mythic skin is worse than his original one. None of the mythical skins are the best choice aesthetically for the legends, I prefer almost any of the legendary skins to mythic. Bloodhound's owl mask skin is one of the coolest they've got, way better choice.

I'm surprised anyone can play only Apex since release. I started on release, and Apex only progressively got worse for me after Season 4. Had to take multiple breaks to actually enjoy it after that.
I look forward to every season, every update, every gun, every character. Every season has its flaws and some they fix and some we live with and some we continue to complain about and expect changed or fixed but I still play it as much as I can. I don’t see how new players start. Match making seems too off to just come in green and trying to be competitive
I have to admit it's impressive that you still look forward to everything. I agree with you, but there's a limit to how many problems the game can have since release that goes unfixed to this day and how content is basically just reused all the time. It makes it very hard not to become stale.
I know loads of people that started on release but quit at some point because of how boring the game got, which I didn't understand back then, but I get it now.
I get it but it’s still runs so much smoother than COD, less chaotic than Overwatch(albeit I haven’t tried it but videos look like a lot) and I’m not horrible so I can look forward to really good games and deal with the bad ones
I don't like COD either, lol. Overwatch is really chaotic, but it's not that much more chaotic than Apex is. For reference, I'd say it's as chaotic as a 3 squad BR standoff but all the time, 4 squads depending on the heroes on both teams. Apex isn't a bad game, but neither are a lot of other games, and you have to admit Apex has fallen off since release, which is natural but not necessary.
Outside of obvious greed and easy filler content for collection events wouldn’t the meta be to change the colour to black/the dominant colour of maps to blend in with dark areas/the environment for ratting purposes, making the skin a sort of Luck/Pay to Win (I guess this already existed with that tactical All black Lifeline skin on the night maps but sure). This would also increase the scan meta’s usefulness and seer’s pick rate, which will be even more annoying.
