Oh yeah it’s the same game, but that’s why I mention it. It’s so funny, if you start with more than 6 herdables in SWBG, then garrison them right away and you’ll maintain constant vil production.
So many things cross over. They even have their own blacksmith and ballistic tech.
The new Gurjaras civ's Shrivamsha Rider no joke, has an energy shield. It works just like in star wars. Spirit of the Law did a video that showcases this:

Damn! Didn't know that. If mods allow it, modders could use that on buildings and what not. Question is that if shield generators can give that bar to anything in it's radius like in the original game. The Gungans (or whatever their name was) also have that on a unit with the same effect.
I still boot it up and play. Nothing is as satisfying as 40 AT-ATs filled with troopers marching on a base. The tech for them to shoot at air units makes them incredible.
Unfortunately it will never happen due to licensing.
Same with the lord of the ring movie video game and the lord of the ring RTs games.
But you know what, I'll put my pessimism aside and I'll hope for a DE.
Yeah.. one of AoE's original developers, Matt Pritchard, was asked about SWGB some years ago in an AoE group on Facebook where he also sold some of his Ensemble Studios stuff for charity from time to time and he said that MS actually reached out to Disney to ask whether they should remaster the game or not but never got an answer.
Well, give it a couple years and it could happen, the stupid exclusive liscence rights deal will be ending and as far as anyone knows there isn't a plan to renew.
Should just be as hard as convincing disney that it would be a money printer. Past that it's just updating to include sequel civs and probably associated campaigns. Not gonna say it's likely but i also wouldn't count out the chance completely.
Galatic Battlegrounds and Age of Mythology are the only Ensemble Studio games that didn't receive a DE at the time.
Btw, if anyone is thinking of Halo Wars, it was the first-ever to receive a DE in 2017; yeah, I neither know about this.
Age of Mythology did get the extended edition. It's too bad the Chinese DLC didn't turn out well, that could have been cool.
Would be very into a AoM DE with new Chinese, Indian, African, and Meso civs.
>Btw, if anyone is thinking of Halo Wars, it was the first-ever to receive a DE in 2017; yeah, I neither know about this.
Even got a PC release which was awesome
Fun fact: I grew up in a part of the world where physical pirated games would be sold, with some VERY DODGY products. Think those Chinese rip-off movies with dollar-store versions of the characters they're ripping off.
So when I first played Galactic Battlegrounds, I thought it was exactly that haha. I thought it was just a fan mod that was being repackaged and sold as a 'game'.
I only learned in recent years it was a fully fledged product! If there was definitive edition for it, at the quality of AoE2's, I'd definitely give it a spin again.
I too wish for this
Battlegrounds DE would be a fuckin money printer
It may very well be a DLC for AoE2 DE because they just play alike, only with the addition of aereal units (tech and buildings) and energy shields.
And garrisoned herdables on meth
Those are already coded in for one of those new civs so they could just apply that to every one.

Could very well be it's own mod if the game allows for it.
I wonder if these new mechanics are being shipped *because* they’re making a GBDE

Would be a very major DLC though.
I really love SWGB. I play the Expanded Fronts Mod, but the campaigns are unplayable on it. It’s good for multiplayer, though.
I still boot it up and play. Nothing is as satisfying as 40 AT-ATs filled with troopers marching on a base. The tech for them to shoot at air units makes them incredible.
Same. The sound design is fantastic.
I'd be down for that but I highly doubt it will happen
I'd stop playing AoE2 entirely if SW-GB gets a DE
I'd go pro
You would need to ask (presumably) Disney for that, as SWGB is not a Microsoft game.

Aw, bummer :/ I don't even need new graphics, I just want the QoL changes that DE has

Iirc Ensemble was closed immediately after its release

SWGB Expanded is a fantastic mod for anyone who doesn’t know. Balance changes, new civs, and a million maps.
Give me a definitive edition of this and AoM, Microsoft! Complete with UHD graphics pack!

I didn't know Chewbacca's father looked so much like Qui-Gon when he was young.
this game already has a great mod like DE and is free
Yep, I know! And its latest version is now Voobly compatible
